FREAK LIKE ME meme You know you're a freak and that, sooner or later, everyone you've known will leave you. And why wouldn't they? You're a monster. Maybe you look like one, maybe it's just your abilities, but it's all the same, even if you're oppressed for your differences or if you slide under the radar. You're in a hell of your own design - loneliness. Until you meet another freak, someone else incredibly different...someone who also wants to stay with you. The circumstances, good or bad, under which you met don't matter, because you're not alone anymore. In fact, this person makes you want to look past any self-loathing or low self-esteem you may have and be better. At least they do on some level. Why they care, you don't entirely know. One thing is for certain, however: you'll do anything to keep them safe and by your side. Your situation may just come in handy, for once. Comment with your character, preferences, and any other information you'd like to include. This was designed as a sort of shipping meme, but you can absolutely play gen or otherwise, if you'd like. [*glances at info* A little friend indeed! I'm game, sure! How do you picture these two meeting?]

[Hmm... a small list (by no means exhaustive):

1.) Just wandering around in the woods. Rykan can take the form of a regular sized fox, there is a chance Matthew was looking for a meal and gets a surprise instead.
2.) Captured by someone for whatever reasons, they need to try and escape.
3.) We could assume some CR and have them up to working to steal some food together maybe.

I'm definitely open to other ideas, those are just the ones that instantly came to mind.]

[Yeah, we could definitely do that. Did you have a starter in mind?]

[Matthew was already in the van when they threw Rykan in the back of it, his hands bound behind his back with a length of silver wire, a rough gag made from a red bandana tied around his head. He's surprised to see that the hunters have found another victim before bringing him...wherever they're going, and looks on in fear as they use a rusty pair of iron manacles to shackle Rykan. Once the door closes and they're left in the dark of the van, Matthew moves a little bit closer.

After all, they're brothers in binds for the moment.]

[Rykan seethed in pain initially as the iron was wrapped around his arms. He couldn't believe he'd been so stupid. He wanted so much to learn about humans, their strange world - like the weird vehicle they were in for example - that he threw caution to the wind and allowed curiosity to carry him away.

Now here he was, in this van with...

His eyes widened a bit, looking up at the stranger scooting closer to him. Wary, considering that the last humans he encountered had just kidnapped him and all. But he of course notices Matthew is bound as well. Still, he limits an audible response to merely one word.]

Hello.

[Gagged, he can't exactly offer a polite greeting, but there's a bit of a nod and a grunt as Matthew looks Rykan over. He definitely doesn't seem to be aggressive, at least not toward the fae stuck in the same predicament as himself. If anything, he's confused. Rykan's clothing and size are not something he was expecting, when someone else was shoved in here with him.]

[Given his size, their captors did not bother chaining him to one spot; they knew the iron would make him effectively powerless. So, he could move around the back with relative ease.

A few moments go by, the two of them staring at each other; he has no way of actually knowing, but he feels as though they're going to be here for a long while.]

My name is Rykan. What's-... oh, right, you can't answer. Here, just, hold still.

[That's all the warning Matthew is going to get before Rykan begins climbing up one of this stranger's arms, pausing to regain his balance on a shoulder, before reaching up and starting to pull on the gag.]

This, would be a lot easier, if, you weren't, so big.

[With each pause he grunts a bit. Of course the iron doesn't help matters. His efforts seem to be paying off though, the gag is loosening.]

[Matthew jerks his head trying to get the gag off as the fae works on unknotting it, eventually working it off enough to speak.]

Sorry, I ate my Wheaties as a kid. I'm Matthew. What...why'd they capture you?

[He's sure it has something to do with how small this man is, but he's never seen a fae before, and the smell of campfires that lingers around him isn't helping with identification.]

[For a moment, Rykan is worried the stranger's head moving around as it was, was going to knock him back to the floor. But no, instead the two of them succeed - enough at least - to allow Matthew to speak.]

Matthew.

[He repeats the name, it's an unusual one to him, but he knows practically no humans, so most things are unusual here. The Wheaties reference thus is completely lost on him sadly.]

Well, considering that they know how to weaken and contain me, I'm going to guess it's because I'm a fae.

[The human world might be a mystery, but he does know about other supernatural creatures, like werewolves, and their weaknesses.]

And, you because you're a werewolf?

[He wasn't 100% on it, but pretty close, so it's a question instead of a statement.]

[ Even though he has to fly from New York to Seattle, it doesn't take Homelander very long to swoop in and whisk Andrew away into the sky, effectively putting an end to his rampage unless he fancied attacking the clouds. He's aware that this newly reported "supervillain" (though Homelander would hardly call an angsty teenager who could stand to learn some emotional control a bona fide supervillain) can fly, so he's got one arm slung around the kids waist tightly enough that he can't just wriggle his way out and fly off. ]

I'm not landing until you calm down and tell me what happened. We can stay up here all night if you want. [ That's the first thing Homelander has said since he picked Andrew up a few minutes ago. Emotional comfort has never been his strong point, but although he's stern he's careful not to yell.

He's gliding at a more leisurely pace than his top speed, though they're still going fast enough that they're nearing Idaho by now, judging from the scenery below. ] I'm not going to hurt you.

[ He says that less to calm Andrew down and more as a matter-of-fact: no matter what kind of enraged, reckless mood Andrew is in, no amount of flailing or yelling or trying to crush him with telekinesis is going to result in anything other than having to stay up in the sky even longer. On the off chance he wants to fight Homelander, he's not going to get it, so trying to calm down is really the only option left. ]
