Ok, background: I (52M) had a best friend who was murdered by something of a coworker (let's call him JK). He was the best man I ever knew, hands down. He was different, wasn't like the others from his school.

My brother (112M) came with me on my mission for vengeance, but when we found JK, he had a wife and 2 kids. So my brother made me listen to JK's side of things. He claimed to have found religion through his new wife, adopted her children, and turned over a new leaf, basically. Claimed he was a good man now.

That didn't sit well with me. I had proof that JK was still working in the slave trading business, and I owed it to my friend to get revenge. My brother said I could do what I wanted, but then seemed upset that I still chose to kill the bastard.

If your sibling had strong feelings either way about your course of action, he should have said so. JK's actions both present and past are terrible. If you didn't frame this whole thing as revenge but as interfering with slave trade I'd render a different judgement, but you didn't and you did destroy a family which is never a positive thing.

I'm going to need more information, because I don't understand what one thing has to do with the other.

Generally, environmental activism involves NOT destroying planets. If you were doing environmental activism, why would you want to do that?

Although the organisation I represent has historically been guilty of a few instances of planet destroying, we have since come to understand that organics can be sapient, even though they don't live very long, and as a result of this realisation, I would have to say that we were the assholes with regard to that matter (though not with so many others).

In general, YTA if you destroy a planet with sapient life on it. That's just something that we all need to accept, even if we have to be really embarrassed about it.

An old family friend murdered my brother and it's taken me years to expose all his crimes (there were a LOT). I told another friend (my brother's sworn brother) that the murderer was trying to kill him (he might have been). The friend reacted instantly and put a sword through the murderer's heart.

Now everyone treats me like I'm going to backstab them. I just wanted to avenge my brother! And that friend knew some of what the murderer was doing. He said in front of all of us that he'd assumed the murderer had a good reason for what he did. Maybe he could have saved my brother if he'd been less trusting. I don't know. I really don't know. Our island's knowledge was the most comprehensive on the planet, but it was deemed too dangerous by the world government and they bombarded the island until nothing would remain alive. My daughter was capable of uncovering the secrets of this forbidden knowledge that I had already uncovered. I had hoped that she would be able to escape since she was only a child and not one of the archeologists being targeted.

Our library was priceless, with books that dated throughout thousands of years of mankind's history. Even if we were to die, if we could just preserve those books for those that may follow our sacrifice might mean something so that the future could have hope.

I prayed with all my might that my daughter might make it out alive, but I fear that I brought doom upon her and all of our island's inhabitants by digging into secrets the world government wanted to keep hidden.
