Everyone knows to stay away from the large empty house on the hill. It’s haunted. But maybe you’re seeking a thrill, or maybe you’re searching for something lost or locked away. Maybe you are the ghost haunting the old building. Maybe your car has stalled, and the house on the hill is the only building for miles. But is it empty, or is there something waiting?

The Haunting
A. Ghosts. Creepy, tragic, and possibly violent, they’ve got unfinished business in this world and you’re the unsuspecting victims who have just become the targets for their wrath.
B. Creatures. Unearthly monsters summoned from a hell-dimension or mutations created by a mad scientist, this is their house now, and they are fascinated and hungry.
C. The People in the Walls. Someone—or several someones—have been living in this house. They’re no longer human anymore, and their sanity has been frayed to the very edge. They’ve been surviving on mice and bats until now. But now you're here, and don't you look delicious?
D. The House Itself. Maybe it was built evil, or maybe it became evil after the horrible deeds that were committed in it. The very walls of the house are soaked with blood, and the house is angry, and hungry. It has you now, and it doesn’t plan to let you out.
E. The Cabin in the Woods Experiment. None of this is natural phenomena. You don’t know it yet, but you’re part of a larger experiment. You’re the rats in the maze, and the scientists are observing—and toying with—your every move.

[ The flashlight beam cuts across the room, and Abbacchio could technically avoid it indefinitely but that takes energy and focus and honestly, he's been watching this guy for long enough that it's time to cut in. ]

[ A low growl that carries easily in an empty space. What appears before this stranger is a man that isn't quite a man anymore. Abbacchio's still occasionally startled by his own appearance, which is sometimes as it was in death, sometimes as it was back when his torso was whole, before he was killed.

Tonight it's a gaping wound, brackets of his ribs visible through the gore. The beam from the flashlight exits his back and flares on the wall behind him.

But that's the thing. He's very nearly solid. The haziness of his edges, along with his impossible wound, are what give him away. ]

Second, you're being followed. By someone a lot less human than me. Don't tell me you didn't notice that this area's not safe.

“The farm is a ways outside of town, and the ambulance seems to take absolutely forever to arrive.” Xander pops another M&M into his mouth, and offers the bag again to Willow. A proper shaggy dog joke has to be delivered slowly, with plenty of build-up. Plenty of detail, so that the inevitably awful punchline gets maximum groanage from the audience. Plus, it gives him something to focus on that isn’t the impending doom of the almost certainly haunted house up ahead.

“But finally, Ms Carrot sees the lights flashing in the distance, and she flags the EMTs down.” None of the research said that the house was haunted, but come on. This is Sunnydale. There’s no such thing as ‘abandoned’ here. If there aren’t people, human people, living someplace, then it’s a sure bet that something else has moved in. And this place, up ahead? This place screams ghosts. “Mr Carrot’s not doing so good, you know. There’s a lot of blood, and as the paramedics start working on him, he slips into unconsciousness.”

Hmm. Maybe this wasn’t the best story to be telling right now.

Jasper can sense it the way you can always sense other stand users. He feels his other half, himself, the part of him that can touch the untouchable, stirring under his skin. Like wings that want to unfurl from his back.

Jasper rolls his shoulders and adjusts his shirt. It's stuck to him with sweat, tacky across his upper back. When he rubs a hand across his forehead, dried blood flakes away against his fingers. He opens the door with his hand wrapped in the fabric of his sleeve to avoid the handle burning him-- it was this handle that was hot, right? He's almost certain he remembers correctly by now.

How long has he been here? He's searching for the front door, where he hears footsteps. Someone calling out with blunt determination.

Jasper turns a corridor and it must be either his lucky day or the house's terrible sense of humor, because it doesn't restructure at the last second this time. Jasper stares over at the man who's just entered and... ]

I recognize you from the photo. [ He sniffs. His nose is bloody and purpled; it looks like it was broken some time ago and his first aid attempts were either minimal, or actively sabotaged by something else. ] Kind of a shit angle they picked, though. You look nicer in person.

[ He scoffs. It's a joke - Dearborn, the user of the [???] Archangel stand, looks like shit as much as Jasper does. Whatever this house is capable of, it clearly had caught this guy at least a few hours ago, too.

Despite knowing who he's facing, nothing in Jasper's stance suggests he's looking for a fight, but surely this man recognizes him - their two groups have always known about each other, loose and secretive as they are. It's not like Jasper has ever been the best at hiding from people who know what to look for, since like most of the other Archdemon users...he's left quite a trail of bodies. ]

It said it had grabbed another one. Gotta say, it's got some fucking sense of humor, pulling this. [ He swallows, tight, and waits for the first move to be made in return before he decides which pocket he's about to reach into. ]

I'm kind of interested in playing him as Guy Who Notices You Sneaking Into A Supposedly Haunted Place And You Hit It Off And Explore Together But He Turns Out To Have Been The Ghost All Along And Just Forgot, WooOOoOooO. Or like, a variation on that. He'll appear to be contemporary to your character in this case (something about unconscious expectation influencing his form, idk). ]

[ Okuyasu wasn't supposed to be exploring this rickety old house alone, but his best friend is an enormous baby and backed out at the last second and his other close friend has too many responsibilities even during a visit to Canada and also backed out at the last second and— listen. Okuyasu's itch to explore didn't disappear just because his friends are kill-joys.

So he grabbed a flashlight and a few secret ghost-hunting-weapons (it's an omamori he bought last week because it was gaudily-colored enough to catch his attention, and a candy bar in case ghosts are capable of accepting sugary bribes) and walked on over to the most haunted supposed spot in the immediate area.

Even at night, Okuyasu is far more curious than afraid. What could mess with him and his stand, anyway? Definitely not a ghost! The Hand could easily send them right back to ghost-town. He just wants to see if the rumors are real—

Except Okuyasu definitely yelps and jumps half a foot in the air when he turns a corner and someone else is already there. ] Man! Don't just stand around in these buildings, you're gonna give someone a fucking heart attack! [ As if he isn't also skulking around. ] What the hell are you even doing here?

[So LP and DW have found themselves investigating a mysterious, abandoned, spooky mansion in St. Canard. Does this place belong to the Macawber family? Possibly. The sign on the front gate is a little too faded to read. Either way, something iffy and possibly illegal is afoot, warranting a closer look. The musty halls and dark rooms seem empty. For now.

After that whole Halloween debacle, Launchpad is extra determined to be a brave hero who won't get fooled by kids in costumes.]

[It'd be more like "ruins" in this case, maybe with some magical/spooky rebuilding until out of the influence, but have some possible thoughts, blending A and D for various flavours.
If in/around Troy, there's always Polyxena's ghost, if she was only sacrificed to Achilles and not buried or given any other rites. Troy itself on the night it fell.
Further away, there's the ruins of Apollo's temple at Thymbra, where Troilus was murdered by Achilles. if any of those entice, I can toss up a starter for meeting before the spooky stuff starts happening.]
