HOLLYWOOD AMNESIA MEME



You know the cliched plotline where someone loses their memory in some way, be it a bump on the head, being hit by a laser, enacting your evil plan to throw the good guys off your trail, or just randomly forgetting everything you ever knew one day just for the hell of it? Well, now you've gone and done it. You've lost your memory, Hollywood-style, and you can't remember who or what you are. Good going!

Not to be confused with an Amnesia: The Dark Descent meme. Sorry folks.

HOW IT WORKS:
- Tag the meme, leaving your character name, fandom, and any preferences in the subject line.
- Other character tags you.
- You tag back, and use the random number generator to select from the following options, either for you or the person tagging you. Or don't, and do whatever strikes your fancy. If you roll something your character already is, either roll again, go for human, or pick something that otherwise suits your fancy.
- Other character reacts, or is free to also roll on the table
- Play out the results.
- Have fun, but respect the preferences of others.
- And, of course, there may be triggers in this meme. So be warned.

1. Wake Up Time!: They've woken up. Maybe in a hospital, maybe on the street, maybe in a scientist's lair, but their first reaction is the same - they can't recall how they got there. Or where they were before. Or their name. Or...perhaps they don't remember anything from before waking up...and there's no identification on hand to help them out!

2. Try To Blend In...: Your character's decided to try and make the best of it, and embark on a new life, and new identity. Of course they can't escape the nagging feeling that they should be doing something entirely different with their life, but maybe they ignore it in favor of some normalcy. Or they stay forever curious about their forgotten life...

3. This Feels Familiar: Maybe its a place, or a person, or just a general feeling, but your character feels an incredibly strong sense of deja-vu about...whatever it is. It is strong enough to think that maybe - just maybe - this could be a clue to who your character really is! Now the question is - is it really?

4. How Could You Have Forgotten Me?: Oh boy. It was bound to happen. Someone runs up to your character to give you a giant hug, and they are just so happy to see your character is ok! Looks like your character's going to have to break the bad news to them - your character's never met them before now and don't remember ever meeting them. Your character can only hope they take it well as they try to explain this all to them...

5. You're On My Side, Remember?: Oh, hey, there's someone who seems to not only know who your character really is, but can explain that your character and he/she were the best of friends and did everything together and maybe there were these jerks that were responsible for their memory loss! There's just one problem - this person was actually your character's enemy pre-memory loss. Not that they remember this...which suits this enemy just fine.

6. Through Different Eyes: Maybe your character was rich pre-amnesia, and they're poor. Or evil, and they're good. Two things are for certain, however. Before your character lost their memory, your character and this other person have never met before - or if they have, they don't know they have. And they're both in the same bind somehow - kidnapped, about to be laid off, it could be anything - or just have something in common. Slowly, the two characters bond, becoming the best and unlikeliest of friends as they both go through life and its trials.

7. Lock and Load!: No memory loss plot is complete without some kind of battle! It can be an insanely epic superhero battle where your character's friends must fight your character - as an amnesiac enemy! Or it can be as normal as your amnesiac character arguing in front of the school board to prevent the under-funded program from being closed - by the company they ran before they lost their memory, ironically. Basically, a battle where your character's on a different side due to their amnesia.

8. Hulk Smash Your Head: The endgame. Someone has decided your character's been amnesiac long enough and is taking action! And thus, your character is about to get their memory - or have gotten it - back. How? How will they react when you remember everything and try to reconcile it with what they did (if they remember what they did while amnesiac, of course)? And...can someone get your character an aspirin!?

9. Joker's Wild. Mix, match, or make up your own!

[Her tail wags at the scratch and then wags even harder when Tooth manages to fly. Oh good, her wings weren't injured.]

[Tooth? She nods and woofs. Call her Ammy. The little 'bug' she has on her head calls her that much most of the time.]

[Nodding to Ammy and the 'bug', she tilts her head, folds her hands together and takes a look around.]

Nice to meet you, both of you. [A pause.] You said this was the.. 'City Checkpoint', right?

[She woofs. Pleasure to meet her as well!]

[Again, a nod. Sei-an City was back up the cliff and across the bridge on Ryoshima Coast.]

[Trying to take the information in, Tooth nods.]

Any idea where we should go? [A pause.] I.. don't remember much past my name, to be honest. Would if be alright if I stayed with you in the meantime?

[motherofthesun]

[She tilted her head and looked Tooth over again. There would be no problem with her coming along, but could she fight? It can get rough on the roads what with the occasional demon or so.]

[bloodandgum]

[A nod as she spins for a second, shows the other her wings better.] Don't have to worry about me - I can take care of myself in that department.

[motherofthesun]

Ruf!

[Alright! Someone in the city might jog her memories and if not there, they could still visit Kusa Village, Sasa Sanctuary, Kamiki Village... ah ha, there were just various places to go.]

[bloodandgum]

[Nodding as the places get listed, Tooth thinks on it, shakes her head slowly when none of them ring a bell. Instead she makes a motion for Ammy to lead the way.]

I'm in your hands, Ammy.

[motherofthesun]

[She'll do what she can. For now, the wolf leads the way up the cliff, going up the pathway built that comes out right besides the bridge and its two ever-burning phoenix sculptures.]

[bloodandgum]

[And close behind her is Tooth, wings buzzing as she goes along. Marveling at the sight, she takes it in, eyes wide before she speaks, still keeping the pace.]

This is incredible... Has this always been here?

[motherofthesun]

[Amaterasu looks at Tooth and nods. Yes. It's been here for years now.]

[bloodandgum]

Any idea where it all came from? [She moves herself over to one of the statues, reaching out to touch just out of sheer wonder.]

I've never seen anything like it, myself.

[motherofthesun]

[She barks several times in alarm. When the statue is on fire, the whole thing is literally on fire except the pedestal. It does burn to touch.]

[It was placed here to commemorate her son and serve as a semblance of guardianship to travelers.]

[bloodandgum]

[She'll be fine...! No really though, Tooth does pull back her hand when it kicks in that right - she can touch physical objects still. .. Not that she's sure why she wouldn't be able too.

Eyes to Ammy, she smiles sheepishly.]

You have a son? What's he like?

[motherofthesun]

[Several sons, but this one's big, covered in feathers, and constantly smoking. Nothing can be done about those fire gods really when they decide to do that.]

[She takes several steps onto the bridge, but waits for Tooth.]

[bloodandgum]

[Keeping her laugh small, Tooth raises a brow, looks wry at that while continuing after her.]

What can you do, really? He must be nice, when he isn't all flame and feathers though, right?

[Oh, he is. A little bit of a trickster though.]

[She can do quite a bit. A little short of actually flying and some other things though.]

[Eyes wide at that, Tooth spins around from sheer excitement, presses her hands together.]

Yeah? I'd love to see that, sometime. It could be fun!

[motherofthesun]

[Hehe, she'll show Tooth. Still, first things first. Cutting through the forest and mountains, there's the coast.]

[bloodandgum]

[After they make it past that, Tooth whistles at the sight, wings downright shimmering in the change of lighting.]

Do you come here often, Ammy? You seem to know the place really well.

[motherofthesun]

[She huffs and nods. When humans can't protect themselves, she comes to protect them. From the very South up to the chilling North.]

[bloodandgum]

[Smiling at that, there's something about the answer that scratches at the back of Tooth's head. Unsure why, she hesitates in her answer for a second, but continues on.] That's a very admirable thing to do. You're kind of like a guardian to people, aren't you?

Ruf.

[Yes, that's correct. She's not alone doing this; there are other spirits who protect in their own way.]

[bloodandgum]

[Other spirits is another bell in Tooth's head - enough that she doesn't have an immediate answer, but with a longer pause. Opening her mouth, she nods.]

Who are the others?

[Well, there are her kids and then there's the spirit of the Konohana and her saplings. The Dragonians in the sea... there was Himiko, but she's moved on by now.]
