I'm just worried that he may expect too much out of life. Happy endings don't always work out the way you want them to.

Real life does tend to be more complicated of that. [It's hard not think of Scott, how determined he had been that they would get back together. There's no such thing as fate. There's no such thing as werewolves.]

It does. And the stories that are told aren't always true.

Nope. Just ones made up to scare children. [Some are true though.]

Or less? [She asks, quirking a brow. Allison doesn't take much at face value, anymore.]

[she glances back over her shoulder with a shrug.]

Some fairy tales don't always tell the true story, I've found.

Well, they're fairy tales. They aren't really true at all, right? Maybe inspired by real things, but still. [Big bad wolves, werewolves, things like that.]

You'd be surprised. I think the truth of something really depends on who you ask.

And what do you think is the truth of those stories, then?

[lostcount]

People make mistakes. Sometimes they get what's coming to them.

[transferee]

But does anybody else really have the right to decide what someone else deserves? [Allison used to think she did -- she hunted Derek and his pack down thinking that. Now, she's not so sure.]

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. But everyone's actions, however well-intentioned, have consequences. It's simply a matter of determining if you can live with them.

And if you can't?

Then you've earned whatever suffering you get.

That's a pretty harsh way of looking at things.

Especially when you think you might have the power to change it.
