how?

01 induction. a comfortable place, a confident touch, and all the right words to take you under. deep breath in, deep breath out, just lie back for the plain flavor, no gimmicks or special powers involved.
02 the prop box. that's not enough? then how about a spinning spiral, or a swinging pocket watch, a coin or a candle, a flickering candle, that's right, just look at the flame, watch the flame closely, watch it dance in front of your eyes and relax, just relax...
03 simply powerful. deep and hypnotic eyes, a strong and commanding voice, their comforting and soothing touch; that person has more than talent - they have the power to bring you completely under their control, and there is no way to resist... at least not forever.
04 magic! a spell to control your body, a potion to command your mind, an artifact to destroy your will. you might have been enchanted, or even cursed. maybe it was an accident, a lesson gone wrong. whatever it was, it's time for a magical trance!
05 science! death rays are so last season, hypno rays are all the rage these days! and did you hear about that new drug that makes you 89% more suggestible to everything you're told? apparently they can even insert a chip into your brain and-- you know, why don't you see the miracle of science for yourself?

why?

01 therapy something you want to remember? something you'd like to forget? quit smoking, eat healthier, be the best you you can be. whatever your reason, whatever your method, your subconsciousness needs a spring cleaning to improve your life.
02 in good fun you're really looking forward to this! it's a show, it's a party, or maybe it's just the two of you trying something new. entertaining, relaxing, maybe even hot and steamy. kick back, and enjoy the experience.
03 part of the job the latest corporate drug, another monster preying on people's minds, the third alien artifact you dug up this week. you've run into this before, and you will run into it again. but maybe this time is different. maybe this time something went wrong...
04 part of a scheme you don't want this, but somebody else begs to differ. maybe it's as harmless as a prank to make you cluck like a chicken whenever they say your name. or maybe it's as bad as a plot to make you their obedient servant forever. only they know, but for better or worse, you're about to find out.
05 an accident a vacant stare into that magical mirror, blank faces after a gas leak, sparks flying in the wrong direction and suddenly you find yourself chanting 'yes, master' over and over again? looks like somebody was too careless. sure, nobody meant for this to happen, but it did, and now you have to deal with the side-effects.

what?

01 relaxation. all you want is to unwind, switch off, forget about your stress and worries for a while. close your eyes, you'll wake up feeling so refreshed. that is, unless somebody goes a little overboard with that happy and vacant smile...
02 transformation. bark like a dog. moo like a cow. put on this apron, you are the maid now. you're a robot, you're just a doll, you are the president of the world, an adorable baby, the perfect boyfriend- you are something or somebody you weren't before.
03 personality change. people don't change? we'll see about that! there must be some way to make you more assertive, less anxious, more honest, less unruly. maybe something could even change your evil ways! or your good ones, for that matter...
04 submission. this one is all about following commands. any commands. any commands. but do they just want to see you dance to their tune once, or will they wash, scrub and bleach your brain until it comes out blank and obedient forever?
05 seduction. maybe it's something sneaky to charm somebody you just met, maybe it's something sexy to spice up your relationship. whatever it is, whatever you do, it's trance time in the bedroom. and it would feel so amazing to take off your clothes for me, wouldn't it?

If Magato was more sane he would have actually retreated. He'd been traveling in the company of three other vampires and their livestock of monsters. In the night they were traveling and minding their own business when a pair of hunters assailed them. It was just his luck that one of them was a damned Belmont. The emblazoned on his back raised the awareness and the whip was a plain giveaway. Magato was a capable fighter but on his own severely outgunned. He had little confidence in the monsters that were little more than fodder, nor much compassion for his comrades. They were together only on business and Magato was not about to be slain fighting at their side. Their chances would have been better without the Belmont's mage friend. In the fevered pitch of battle and on his way out he nearly carved her back into two clean halves. His knife fell short. Instead of a mortal wound it leaves behind a thin red line diagonally across her back and between the shoulder blades. He got out after that. Magato moved blindingly fast when he wanted to. The Belmont's whip could only splinter wood and crack the air where he'd been a split second before. It was suicide to engage when they were covering for one another, and when he might just die instantaneously to that whip if it touched him. Bad news all around, really. So Magato ran, but he wasn't retreating. The Belmont was following him and Magato took him on a goose chase. Predictably of a Belmont it seemed to Magato like his very continued existence would not be permitted, could not be stomached. It tickled him to see the growing frustration with the Belmont's inability to catch his prey. Magato made a show of it, dancing a little, and sticking out his tongue at the hunter. By the time he realized, Magato was going to be back practically on top of her already.

Magato approached the battlefield from the east, having run away with Trevor to the south. Thankfully his incredibly useful and superior vampiric senses allowed him to sniff Sypha out. Somehow it was easier in the chaos, to find that human scent. He shuts his eyes briefly on the intake, breathing through his nose. A woman. And bleeding, from an injury more substantial than the one he'd given her. There wasn't a lot of it, but more than enough for him to find her. He peered at her from the cover of a treetop, a safe but easily traveled distance away.

[ Life since moving to Tokyo's been nothing if not - interesting is the word, Kisumi thinks. New, refreshing, a little out of comfort zone in the fun kind of way. You can find all sorts on those odd Tokyo streets, long-winding and strange. Nothing at all like sleepy seaside Iwatobi, where the most interesting thing all month might be a boy clambouring half-naked into a fish tank, and a sight never seen before is supposed to be rare. Only in the capital is there that city culture, the wild atmosphere, crazy fashion... or this. Kisumi trying to put Haru under in his apartment. ]

You're feeling more and more sleepy...

[ It's not a particular deep story, what they're doing here. Something to pass the time, mostly, while Makoto's busy with the kids and Asahi finally crams for a test the day before it's due. One of those rare moments where it's just the two of them, boundless entertainment for one and unending torture for the other. Kisumi's not entirely sure how he got to the point of claiming he could hypnotize Haru -- no, wait, yes he can. It all started with the pendant.

He can't describe what drew him to the crystal pendant he swings before Haru's eyes, what made him reach out when he'd found it in an old antique store, looking for all the world as if someone had just left it there. Something about the gleam to its surface was too much to resist, until it just seemed right for him to have it, until before he knew it the thing was in his hand, casually slipped into his pocket, where suddenly it seemed so heavy. As if some great and terrible weight had been thrust upon him, in fact. And now is no different, makes it seem so natural to let the crystal dangle from its string, let it hang before Haru.

Also he swore never to mention basketball in Haru's presence again if he can't get him under in five minutes. The pressure is real! ]

I swear it'll start working soon, just you wait. [ Unbidden words enter Kisumi's mind. The right words to say. ] Play along with me for a sec, 'kay? Just take a deep breath, and repeat after me: "I feel nice and relaxed. I feel calm. I feel completely at ease."
