If you were a kid during the 80s or 90s, I don't have to explain. Everyone remembers those meccas of fun that were awesome, yet somehow still smelled vaguely of stale pizza and shame. Whether you're hanging out in the tubes, jumping in the moon bounce, or shooting some hoops, you're sure to have a blast.

Well, even if you don't, it's not like you can leave. As big as this place is, there seems to be no door. So you might as well just sit back and win some tickets.

HOW TO PLAY:

[ Iida wonders how he got himself in this situation. He remembers Kaminari asking, of course, but in hindsight he wonders how he agreed to it. Because now that he's here, surrounded by screaming children, bright colors, and the smell of cheap pizza... he would like to leave as soon as possible, thank you.

But that would involve dragging Kaminari out of the ballpit, and Iida is hesitant to even dip a finger in there. ]

Are you sure this all is sanitary? [ Some of the children in there couldn't be any older than three, after all. ]

[Operation: Chill Out Class Prez is a go. Kaminari's been designated as the main operative, though other members of the so-called "Bakusquad" are involved, roaming around other parts of the arcade to coax Iida to play and have fun.

Right now, Kaminari's having a blast rolling around in the ball pit, reliving the best parts of his youth. When he looks over and sees Iida hesitate by the edge, it makes him laugh.]

Yeah, totally! They clean it every night!

[Which is to say, it's definitely covered in all the grimy kid germs of the day.]

But you're not supposed to be worrying about sanitation at a ball pit, dude. Just come in!

[ Iida narrows his eyes at the offending ballpit, recoiling a little bit as he watches Kaminari sink deeper into it. Those words don't exactly fill him with confidence. ]

It's three o'clock.

[ Meaning it hasn't been cleaned in over 15 hours, at the least! And the children running amok certainly don't seem like they practice proper hygiene - being children, after all. Iida can only imagine what kind of dark secrets lie between those colorful plastic balls... ]

And are you asking me to disregard my very health and safety? That sounds completely counter-intuitive! As future heroes, part of our job is to protect our bodies and train them for a better tomorrow!

[Kaminari does not miss the way Iida seems to wince at the sight of him being sucked down in the vortex of balls. He has to fight not to laugh.]

Yeah, and what's gonna make your immune system stronger than exposure therapy? It's basically training for your white blood cells!!

[He's smarter than he looks, Kaminari. Usually when that intelligence is useful for a greater good than just school.]

Come on, Class Rep, cut loose a little. I won't let'cha get hurt!

[ He makes a solid point, Iida thinks. Perhaps he pays more attention during class than he had assumed. ...Even if it doesn't quite reflect in his grades. ]

Well... as long as you can assure you will keep watch over me!

[ As far as he's concerned, his life is in Kaminari's hands. A precarious place to be. ]

Do you promise that?

[Kaminari is smart... when it doesn't count for anything. When it comes to academics, his intelligence flounders. It's a good thing he doesn't have Yaomomo's quirk.

His charm comes into full effect as he smiles up at Iida and nods.]

Of course, dude! [Kaminari promises over the squeals of the little kids playing.] You'll be fine!

[ Iida's expression softens, and it looks like he might finally give in... but still, he hesitates at the edge of the pit, as if it's full of spikes instead of plastic balls. He squeezes his eyes shut tight, only opening one after he's dipped one socked toe in. ]

I... I did it! [ He declares, like this alone is some sort of accomplishment. ] I really did it!

[charge_bolt]

[Kaminari laughs brightly, which has the benefit of not sounding mean at all.]

Good job! [He praises, voice sing-songy.] And see, nothing back happened! Come on now, a little more!

[runtherisk]

[ He raises his eyebrows. ] More? [ He laughs loudly, as if this is some sort of clever joke. ] I think this is quite enough, don't you?

[ And so he just stands there with his hands on his hips, laughing loudly, one toe in the ballpit. ]

[There are small children around them staring at Iida, befuddled at the fully grown man who has half his foot in the ball pit and seems content with it. But none of these children are more befuddled than Kaminari, who can't quite believe Iida's holding that awkward pose with such pride.]

Hah? Is it enough?? Iida, that's not very Plus Ultra of you, man!

[ Iida shrinks a little at that accusation, but he quickly puffs out his chest and stands up straight again. ...Or tries his best, anyways. Because ouch, Kaminari. You really didn't have to do him like that. ]

What's really Plus Ultra is practicing proper hygiene and following safety guidelines! [ Everyone knows this, surely. ]

[Listen, he hates to be mean, but this is for Iida's own good.]

If this wasn't safe, would small children be allowed to play here? [Kaminari poses, lips pursed in a little frown.] If nothing else that proves how safe it really is!

Just because something is stated to be safe doesn't mean it truly is! [ Predictably, he isn't lowering his voice at all. They're starting to get stares. ...More than they already were, anyways. At this rate, Iida may wind up getting them kicked out. ] Can you imagine the amount of bacteria residing in there?!

[charge_bolt]

[Kaminari isn't too worried about the stares, until he notices that Iida's drawing attention of some of the arcade's teenaged employees. Aw, shit, a manager's probably going to come over soon and kick them both out. Kaminari's got to get Iida in here fast.]

Don't worry about that- [He starts moving towards Iida, then jerks in place with an exaggerated wince.] Ah, cramp, cramp!

[ Thankfully, that's enough to distract Iida. He draws his foot out of the ballpit so he can lean down closer to Kaminari. This increased closeness unfortunately does not come with a decrease in volume. ]

Relax your body! Tensing will only prolong it. I am free to help you out if need be!

[charge_bolt]

[Rather than relax, Kaminari clenches his muscles and squirms stiffly.]

Dude, I can't-! You've gotta get me out of here!

[ That, of course, only makes Iida panic more. They really are just a disaster duo. ]

To pull you out now could cause further damage! We need to wait until the cramp passes!

[charge_bolt]

[SERIOUSLY?!?!]

Oh look it's gone now! [Kaminari proclaims, of course never having had a leg cramp in the first place.] Just get in here already, dude!!

[runtherisk]

[ He truly had underestimated Iida's penchant for safety. And now he has only further convinced Iida of the dangers of the ballpit. ]

Are you sure you don't want to take a break? If the pain has passed, it really could be best for us to extract you immediately!

[charge_bolt]

[He sighs, pretending to be defeated.] Yeah, okay... do you think you can help me out?

[Kaminari holds out his arms.]

[runtherisk]

[ A friendly grin overtakes his face. ]

I would be glad to!

[ He reaches his arms out for Kaminari, like a fool. Surely there's no way this could go wrong! ]

[charge_bolt]

[Once Kaminari has Iida's hands in his own, he does the possibly-unthinkable (but probably actually very predictable) and tugs his classmate into the ball pit with him.

Sorry, Iida. At least Kaminari's thoughtful enough to break your fall with his body?]

[ At the very least, poor Iida didn't predict it. He shrieks as Kaminari pulls him into the ballpit with him, his vision temporarily obscured by all the colorful plastic balls that fly into the air all around them.

And then he's clinging onto Kaminari's limbs, putting all his weight on him like he doesn't know how to swim. Like he might drown in this ballpit. ]

Denki Kaminari! [ Still, he sounds pretty indignant. ]

[Mission accomplished! Though it might have come at the cost of Kaminari's hearing, what with the uncharacteristically high pitched shriek that comes out of Iida.

And then their class rep is clinging to him like his life depends on it, and Kaminari has to fight the impulse to laugh. He awkwardly pats Iida's arm.]

You're alright, dude, it's fine. Nothing's gonna hurt you. Look, you did it!

[runtherisk]

Only because of your meddling!

[ Now who knows what kind of diseases he could contract! He makes a reach for the edge of the ballpit to hoist himself out, but he's too far away to do that without letting go of Kaminari.

Which he's not willing to do. Yet. ]

[charge_bolt]

[Kaminari opts to ignore that accusation. And, because he's not heartless, he moves with Iida so that they can get to the edge, and even allows his classmate to make his escape.]

But you did it! Plus, it's great hero training. What if someday you have to save some kids who were playing in a ball pit when a villain attacked? Now you're ready for it!

[ He quickly hoists himself up over the edge and back to safety. He stays on his knees for a moment, giving a shudder before rising back to his feet. ]

The likelihood of that scenario is extraordinarily low! Surely we both know that!

[charge_bolt]

[Kaminari follows Iida out of the ball pit, and fights back a few more giggles.]

Maybe, but it can't hurt to be prepared. Plus, look, you did it! You survived the ball pit, Class Rep! You should be proud of yourself!

[Or something.]

[ He thinks over this for a moment. ]

...I suppose so. [ The fear seems a little silly, now that he can think about it with a clear head. After a moment, he offers Denki a smile. ] Thank you, Kaminari. Despite your... forceful methods, this has helped me. In a roundabout sense!

[charge_bolt]

[He grins brightly up at Iida and nods.]

You're welcome, dude, happy to help!

But if you perform an act of that nature again, I will not hesitate to report you to the proper authorities at once!

[ Is he... talking about the arcade staff? It seems so. ]

[Report him to the authorities? Somehow, Kaminari doesn't think that reminding Iida 'Snitches get stitches,' will go over well. So he just sheepishly scrubs at his neck, and goes for a friendly, embarrassed smile.]

I won't, I promise. Come on, let's go play some Skeeball!

[ His expression softens considerably. A little friendly competition sounds far better than the ballpit. ]

...Well, alright. I'll give it a try. Lead the way!

[Aww. In light of Iida's kinder smile, Kaminari's face lights up.]
