[ In her youth, anyway. There had been plenty of gatherings but not like this, and obviously with only Amazons. ]

I haven’t introduced myself. [ how rude, Diana. ]

My name is Diana Prince.

[agetes]

[ and at last, there's a bit of emotion on his face, a sort of amused half-smile. ] Forgive me. But you hardly seem old enough to be reminiscing, Miss Prince.

[ he splays his hand on his chest in lieu of reaching out for a shake, offering a formal bow. ] Henry Night.

[dianayes]

You would be surprised. [ She smiles in return, but it looks like she's almost ready to laugh at some untold joke. ]

It is a pleasure to meet you, Mister Night.

[agetes]

Perhaps. [ though his smile falters. nothing has surprised him in a long, long while.

and yet, there's something about diana prince. ] Do you work for the museum?

[dianayes]

I do.

[ She carefully pushes a tiny piece of hair that has fallen back behind her ear. ]

I am the Curator for the Department of Antiquities. I specialize in ancient weapons.

[agetes]

Weapons?

[ the pang comes back, but hades recovers a little more quickly this time. he smiles again, rueful. ]

Nothing that I can donate, I'm afraid.

[ Diana smiles. ]

That's alright. I don't think many people have a collection of ancient weapons. [ She does, but it's a special interest of hers. ]

Where do your interests reside?

Art. [ it's all he has left of the family, now: tapestries, decorative shields, statues. ]

And coinage, I suppose. Much of what's in there - [ he inclines his head towards the door into the exhibit ] - is mine.

[ Her brows lift in mild surprise, eyes flicking over his shoulder back towards the party proper, and thus the exhibition. ]

You donated the drachma? That is quite a donation.

[agetes]

[ he shrugs, a light movement that still makes his bones creak. ]

I had no use for them.

[dianayes]

I can't imagine you would. But sometimes things hold...sentimental value.

[ Like her blade, or even just...seeing similar weapons to those that she grew up around. ]

[agetes]

[ here, hades glances away. blinks a few times, to get the tears away. ]

Yes. They do. And sometimes - [ he flexes his hand. ] - You can hardly bear to see them anymore.

[dianayes]

[ she’s lost for a moment worlds away. Then she blinks back to the present. She’d ask if he was alright but...]

Did you keep a few, for yourself?

[agetes]

A few.

[ some things that he couldn't imagine parting with. a few aren't even much, but gifts from persephone, and -

[ She smiles a little, glancing over at him. ]

[ She thinks about the photograph Bruce located and sent her, and she thinks about the watch Steve had pressed into her hand. ]

[agetes]

I see.

[ it's not dismissive, or belittling, just a statement of fact. almost something approaching empathy.

after a moment, hades looks at her again. ]

It is strange. You seem almost familiar to me.

[dianayes]

I was thinking the same.

[ She faces him properly, champagne completely forgotten. ]

Have we met before?

[agetes]

[ he shakes his head. ]

No. I do not forget those whom I've met. And I have met many people.

[dianayes]

[ In all the years she's been alive, she's met the most people during her time in the world of men. She knew everyone on Themyscira, and he certainly was not among them. No man had been. ]

In another life, perhaps.

[agetes]

There are none.

[ She folds her arms lightly, hip checking the railing. ]

Another lifetime. [ Longer than the average lifespan, she means. It's a gamble to say such a thing, but there's just... something going on here, she thinks. ]
