THE CRACK PAIRING MEME

An unusual relationship of any kind of fandom (i.e. books, television shows, movies, ect.) that is unlikely to happen.

Randomly take two characters… they don’t have to know each other, they don’t have to show ANY signs of a relationship, and hook them together. That is a crack pairing.

We all know them. Fandoms have fostered these little gems of shipping since the early days, and now, they can even be serious contenders in even the most hostile of shipping wars. Maybe they're absolutely ridiculous and only "for the lulz." Perhaps they make perfect sense...if you squint. Whatever the case may be, these so-called "crack" pairings are not canon and they're nowhere near as popular in fandom as the big fanon pairings.

Most of the time.

Of course, it's important to note that a lot of the time in RP, pairings are always crack pairings. Especially crossover ships, which canon purists would deride purely for being impossible. Still, in memes, that's less likely to happen because people either stick with canon ships, fanon ships, or close CR because of the lack of opportunities for development that games offer.

Not here. This meme is for ALL your ridiculousness, all your high school fangirl dreams, and just plain not being sorry for your ships. Think these characters would be cute together? Go for it. That character have adorable icons and that all you know about them? Ship it, by all means. Here, the reasons come after the desire.

[One Jedi who's either training, trained and out doing things, or trying to keep training himself on his own because his life both literally and metaphorically exploded. Pretty easy to have him meet someone if they're in danger or obvious distress and he's the closest person who can help. Otherwise, open to ideas.]

McCoy to Enterprise. Come in, Enterprise.

[McCoy's stomping around disconsolately at the top of a hill. At the bottom of said hill there's a big pool of some kind of lava/quicksand mix. There are also some bubbles erupting from it. As though something's sinking. Very slowly.]

[Tai isn't sure who this man is or what the problem is, but it's clear even from a distance that there is, in fact, a problem. He approaches from the less lava-filled side of the hill, in time to overhear the message.]

You lost contact with your ship?

[A guess, but he assumes that's what Enterprise must be.]

[Tai wasn't moving particularly quietly or sneakily or anything, but McCoy still jumps, because being in a colossal snit will do that to a man.]

What in tarnat-

Oh. Hey, kid. Yeah, the big one's not listening to me. The little one's in that thing!

[He hadn't expected to startle the other man that much, and gives an apologetic look. After the man speaks, his gaze trails down to the molten muck at the bottom of the hill, understanding registering as he spots the bubbles.]

I might be able to help with that.

[He's not quite certain when he raises an arm and focuses his attention toward the pool at the bottom of the hill, but quickly gains a more determined focus. He can sense where the ship is. The lava puts up enough resistance that it takes effort, and he can't guess at what condition the small transport will be in when he gets it free, but after a moment, an edge of it begins to breach the surface.]

You might be able to help? What do you mean?

[McCoy passes an exasperated hand across his face. Of all the bullshit luck... but then his hand pauses at his mouth and he watches with absolute consternation as his shuttle begins to rise]

I - How the hell are you- thank you!

[The surprise and confusion aren't unexpected, but Tai doesn't answer immediately. Whatever the liquid engulfing the ship is made of, it doesn't easily let it rise again, so his effort takes a good bit of concentration. Eventually he gets the small ship free of the muck, though, and set up the hill, between them and the pool. He breathes a sigh of relief.]

I can't say what condition it's in. Pulling it out of there won't have undone any damage.

[And he doubts that stuff will have been friendly to it, even if it was in there relatively briefly.]
