She'd been finishing her drink so she could make her exit, when who else but her pretty sister and her date strode in, and she felt a pang on her chest that she knew she absolutely had no right to feel. Sansa, as always, had looked radiant and made Jane very self-conscious in her simple dress.

Setting down her glass on the tray of a passing waiter, she hurriedly weaves her way through the crowd to leave, not wanting to catch Jon's attention in any way as she knows that it will not be appreciated. Not by her sister, anyway. It's only once she's finally out the building that she slows, heading for the parking lot and into her car — a neat and well-maintained black Prius, but a shabby secondhand compared to Robb's Porsche, of course — and just taking a couple of minutes to brood in the driver's seat. What a shitty night. It's almost tempting to just drive off and spend the rest of the evening getting drunk under the stars. But she'll have to pick Ghost up first. And buy some snacks. ]

[They’re just starting out on the Great Cross-Country Post-Divorce Road Trip of 2016 when Eddie sees the gas station, somewhere near what used to be a town called Chamberlain. They’re running low and they both need to piss, so of course he pulls over and pays for a full tank, then wanders off to pick up some food and water for later.

The lights flicker while Eddie’s inside the store. He frowns up at the ceiling lights, then shakes his head. It’s a problem with the electricity, he’s sure, so he gets his items bagged with no real worry. The cashier barely looks up from the register as she scans and bags his items, not even when the lights flicker again.

Is it just him, or did the girl look oddly...charred, for a moment? Eddie blinks, and she’s normal again, handing him the plastic bag with barely a come again soon. Unsettled, Eddie very briskly walks out of the store and towards the bathroom. As soon as Richie comes out, he says:]

I think we have to leave. Like, right fucking now.

Reese doesn't know why he's driving this kid anywhere but back to HQ. He's not with the machines as far as Reese can tell but he pilots one, supposedly real big and shaped like a lion. That's cause enough to take him prisoner and take him back to base for interrogation, but instead he's driving Keith through enemy territory to retrieve it.

Maybe he's getting played, but there's something about Keith's die-hard conviction that reminds him of himself at that age.

Reese glances over to Keith in the seat beside him, sizing him up expressionlessly. "You do know that even if your lion mech is still where you think it is, we'll probably have to fight to take it back? Do you even know how to fight metal?"
