"No we don't, not yet. This is a lead and we're going to follow it." How many times has she has to explain it? Too many.

"Look let's get the interview over with then you can go do," she gestures vaguely, "whatever shiny things catch your eye okay?"

"I'm just saying, most people wouldn't come to a carnival just for one thing and then leave again. Someone else may have seen her." Which is a question they can ask later.

"When's the last time you let something catch your eye?" He's genuinely curious. She might not think he takes anything seriously, but she seems to take everything seriously all the time.

"Yes, that's true but we still have to stay focused. This is a confirmed lead. You follow that first before you start canvassing." Something she'll probably wind up doing alone once he's distracted.

"What do you mean catch my eye? I don't get distracted, Lucifer. Especially not when I'm working."

She's expecting a lot from him if she expects him to be able to focus. It's something he's never been capable of, no matter what he was supposed to focus on. Even when he tries, it doesn't usually work. "Let's meet this fortune teller then." He can listen sometimes.

That hadn't been quite what he meant, but he files it away for later. "Really? I didn't know you noticed things like that."

Lucifer is never focused and Chloe is hyper-focused and somehow they still manage to solve cases. It's weird and frustrating and maddening but it somehow works.

A huff because she hadn't meant to tell him that, but when she's around Lucifer she finds herself blurting out stupid things like that. It was an answer that had to do with him so she thought it would be enough. "Yes. Yes, I noticed. You were wearing it with that grey suit."

It works because they both bring different things to the partnership, and...mostly it works because for some reason she continues to put up with him.

"That is a particularly nice combination." Maybe she'll see it again soon, now that he knows she likes it.
