let's go to the carnival!

the carnival meme |
WHAT TO DO: 1. Post with your character! 2. Pick a scenario and reply to people! 3. Have fun and try not to get sick on the roller coaster! OPTIONS: 1. Games: From classic ring toss to the shooting gallery, here's your chance to win a prize for yourself or for that special someone. Some say the games at a carnival are rigged, but maybe, just maybe, you'll get lucky! 2. Food and Drink: The sweet smell of funnel cake and the familiar briny aroma of popcorn draw you over to the food and drink tent. There's cotton candy, candied nuts, and cheep booze, all here for your enjoyment. 3. Classic Rides: The carousel, the ferris wheel. All carnivals need these classic rides for kids and adults who aren't looking for the excitement of the faster-paced rides. Snuggle close to your partner and see if you can see your house from the top of the wheel. 4. Something More Exciting: This is for thrill-seekers. Here you'll find the Tilt-a-Whirl, the Gravitron, the Screamin' Swing--all the rides designed to make you lose your lunch. Hope you didn't have too much cotton candy! 5. Freakshow: Do they really have a bearded lady in that tent? It's time to find out. Buy a ticket and see the greatest oddities the world has to offer. 6. Tunnel of Love: Or perhaps tunnel of mild boredom. The red-tinted lights and quasi-romantic music are meant to make this ride a great makeout spot, if the chemistry is there. 7. Hall of Mirrors: You and your partner entered, thinking it would be easy to get out again, but dead ends abound in this wacky mirror-maze, and each mirror seems to show a more and more distorted image of each of you. 8. Fortune Teller: Whether one of the creepy machines or the even creepier women dressed up in a culturally insensitive costume, you cross someone's palms with silver and get your future told. Will it be happiness forever with your partner, or will ill tidings be bound your way? (Feel free to use this online tarot spread for extra fun!) 9. Wildcard: Any situation of your choosing happens in a carnival today! Go with the flow. |

It's not exactly easy to aim with this thing, you know...
[ But he pops another coin in and tries to do as Dabi says, maneuvering the claw toward the toy he's indicating. Honestly, if this doesn't work, they might as well share the frustration. ]

[ he says as he moves in closer, sliding his hands on the other man's hips. ]
Yeah, right there. Just like that.

[ Nice of Dabi to come close, so Tomura can dig a sharp elbow into his ribs. He stops short of making it actually hurt, and after a moment just settles back against Dabi, focusing on guiding the machine again. He drops the mock-angry to something a little more playful. ]
You here to help or distract me?
no subject
[ despite the half assed complaint, an airy sort of laugh escapes him as well. ]
Here to help ya concentrate, of course. If ya get the figure in three more tries I'll blow ya in the Fun House with the mirrors.

[ He says it in the same, slightly distracted way, smirking a little bit. Most of his concentration remains on the toy, which he tries to tumble off its pile. It's a lot more difficult than Dabi gives him credit for, considering the limited range of options he's allowed on the controls.
After a small struggle, he knocks another box over before the claw automatically retracts. Tomura sighs and slumps back against Dabi. ]
Well, that is encouragement...
[ Pretty damn good as far as encouragement goes, but there's the matter of whether or not he can actually succeed. ]

[ he says, as if it's absolutely impossible for him not to be... which very well might be true.
incentive is always a good thing, especially for shigaraki, and especially when he starts getting so frustrated that he'll end up not getting what he wants either way. ]
Two prizes in one. You can do it.

[ He says aloud what Dabi's thinking, but it's funny more than anything. Sometimes he almost feels like he doesn't mind how much of an asshole the fire user is—maybe he even enjoys it, but he wouldn't be caught saying so anytime soon.
As it turns out, it takes only two more tries for him to knock his prize into the opening. With a quiet hiss of victory, he reaches into the slot to grab it, feeling for the cardboard box and touching something else slightly fluffy—mildly surprised, he pulls both out. One of them is the figurine he expected, a cloaked woman wielding a scepter, and the other...
A keychain attached to a small stuffed cat. He stares at it a moment before half-turning, dangling the toy at Dabi. ]
Here.

[ he won't even bother to try. it's not like anyone needs him to be less of a dick anyway. sure, it's probably annoying at times, but all of them are.
dabi isn't entirely surprised when shigaraki does get the box he wants in two more tries- he was rooting for him, after all- but he's definitely surprised when shigaraki hands him a stuffed cat keychain. it's silly, and fluffy, and so unlike anything he would ever own, but he takes it from shigaraki with a snort. ]
Thanks, just what I've always wanted.
[ he squishes it, then attaches it to one of his belt loops cause hey, why not.]
So what's this statue ya wanted to get so bad, huh?

[ He sort of snorts at Dabi's answer, but doesn't contradict him. He's damn lucky Tomura managed to adapt to his attitude (and maybe likes him just fine the way he is). That's one reason he's smirking as Dabi takes the toy. It had probably just fallen out with his prize, or with some previous win, but the stroke of luck couldn't have been better. ]
Suits you, [ he teases lightly. Sure, the cat could be a little angrier and scruffier, but otherwise it's a fitting animal version of Dabi, isn't it?
Tomura turns around fully to face him. A few months ago he would've been unnerved to be trapped between the machine and another body, but right now all there is is a soft, contented buzz in his chest. At the question, he holds out the box he finally got his hands on. ]
A character from Luna Campaign. Limited edition figurine, so... you know. Figured it was worth a shot.
[ Even with all the coins he spent, it ended up being cheaper than online bidding.
Explanation concluded (to his satisfaction), the box joins the rest of the junk they'd been picking up all night, in a plastic bag at Tomura's feet. He leans into Dabi then, nose brushing against the dark spikes of his hair while Tomura murmurs into his ear. ]
You gonna take me to the mirror maze now?
