Pretty self-explanatory. Sometimes, chemistry just hits you and you see that special someone for the first time and . . . it's so intense, there's no reasoning behind it other than it has to be love.

It wasn't like Max Evans took road trips all that often. Hell, he didn't take them at all, but this one time he found himself needing to get away. He found himself needing to take a break from everything in his head, so he jumped in his truck and started driving. Night after night, hotel after hotel-- it didn't matter to the cowboy where he ended up. He just drove and watched as the world passed him by. He saw things, famous rocks, canyons, towns, landmarks. You name it, Max Evans checked it off his list. It was that road trip he'd always planned to make.

He'd even reached the east coast by way of Massachusetts. Max found himself a tiny little bed and breakfast to stay in and booked himself there for at least a week. He'd planned to start a book, and what setting could be better than the rocky shores just outside of the college town of Cambridge, home to both famous institutions of higher learning.

Waking up early the second day of his stay, Max drove down to an infamous lighthouse and cliff that was supposedly haunted. It was completely deserted except for one person. That was the day he met Caleb Danvers. The day his whole life changed. He watched the young male as he walked down and over the rocks to the shoreline. He seemed to do something, or say something and then he dove into the water. It had to have been absolutely freezing in that water. Max knew that he had to act fast. He ran from where he was, leaping and hurdling over rocks in a manner he'd never known he was able before. He called out in his mind for the other to stop, turn around-- somehow praying that he could suddenly develop Isobel's power for telepathy. She'd grown her powers, why couldn't he?

Falling into the water, he streaks out in the fridgid temperatures after the younger male. Upon reaching him, he jerks at him and tries to turn him around, feeling the cold moving through his normally super-heated system. He tries to pull at his own powers, but finds concentration more difficult than normal the minute Caleb turns to look at him. There's just something in those eyes, and in the way he moves so flawlessly in the water that Max can't get over.

"You're going to drown." He manages through chattering teeth. He should be the one drowning, and any normal human would by now, which is why he sits there wondering why they're both treading water staring at each other.
