[He's a high school sophomore doling out justice and ready for romancing.

This is a new muse so I'm up for anything to try him out]

Emily had moved to Tokyo with her parents, who were in Japan for work. Transferring to a new school had been strange, at first, but she'd quickly realized she had it easy compared to the other transfer student, whom everyone in class seemed to gossip about because he'd supposedly been arrested. No really seemed to know the details, though, and he always seemed to be helping people out, so she didn't give the rumors any credence. Once Emi had a chance to get to know him, he'd turned out to be a pretty decent guy.

It didn't hurt that he was pretty cute, too. So naturally, she jumped at the chance to spend a little time with him, one-on-one.

People talked about the new girl plenty. She had green hair for one that had a lot of the teachers on Emily's case. She had a non Japanese name too and clearly she was a foreigner. That was enough to make some students ostracize her. Others saw her as a good study buddy for their English exams.

Ren on the other hand... Well he was on his way to being the top of their class despite his reputation. He routinely got questions right in class and he was unflappable on exams. Most kids left him alone and he preferred that. Today though, he was paired up with Emily. They had a group project to work on which he could bang out in no time.

"Do you want to work in the library today or go to the diner in Shibuya? Or... My room has more space."

Emily didn't mind helping with English exams. And she didn't mind if people thought she was a little...strange. They weren't wrong. Most of the time, when she wasn't at school, she was fiddling with computers, watching YouTube tutorials to teach herself new skills, and fixing things around the apartment. Taking things apart and putting them back together again might be an unusual hobby, but at least it kept her out of trouble. Mostly.

Maybe that was why she admired Ren. He never let what others thought of him bring him down, and his excellence in all their classes inspired her to study even harder. Not that she was especially competitive...but it was nice not to be the only one who stood out.

"I don't mind studying at your place," she said, shrugging her shoulders. "My parents' apartment is kind of small."

Since this is a sex meme, let's say Emily is an arcana confidant Ren is working on and maybe she's close to maxing it out, or if you want we can say sex is part of her progression through maxing out her confidant. Since the major arcana are all spoken for in the game, I thought to use a minor arcana. This is where I welcome your input. If you like this idea I thought you might help me choose which suit fits Emily/Five best. I haven't seen Dark Matter but I looked it up and I think the suit of Cups, the suit of Wands, or the suit of Swords fits her. Cups represents emotions, relationships, and creativity. Wands represents energy, passion, and life purpose. Swords represents action, asserting your power, and making decisions.

If you like this idea then let me know which arcana you think fits Emily, I think it would be a really neat tie-in for this thread!]}

Emily had single-handedly saved several classmates' grades. She was a hero to them from then on and the rumors about her quieted down. She'd even been propositioned to be roommates with several girls on their class trip. It was what stopped him from hitting her up sooner honestly. He had noticed she was unbothered by the students who judged her. She was confident, creative, and smart. It wasn't hard to fall into an infatuation with her.

His lips curled into a very subtle smile as she suggested his place. "I can make us coffee if it gets late." and it would be just nearly cafe-level. She ought to appreciate it. "Once Boss leaves we'll have the place to ourselves." and he will lead her to Leblanc and upstairs to his now cleaned out attic loft. Morgana will make himself comfortable and watch the two get to work.

[ooc: I do like that idea, and those are all good options for her! In the context of this meme, I think I might be leaning toward Cups? Maybe she's learning to connect with people and follow her heart, instead of just being completely absorbed with her studies.]

"That sounds nice," Emily agreed, following Ren inside. She had to admit, she had a weakness for mocha. Not that she was only interested in Ren for his coffee-making skills. That was just a bonus. He was an interesting person, all around.

Besides that, it would be fun to study with someone who could challenge her in ways that tutoring did not.

"How late does the cafe usually stay open?"

If she only liked the coffee he could live with that. She could certainly be one of Leblanc's regulars. Sojiro could certainly use the business... He hoped he could get to know her more once they were alone. The class project was one thing, they could square that away in no time. He hoped they could spend one on one time after they were finished.

"No real set hours. It's whenever Boss calls it a night. He gets bored some nights and leaves earlier." especially when he brings someone over for school work, in fact he can hear Sojiro begin the dishes downstairs. "It's pretty quiet here. We should have the place to ourselves soon. But we can get started up here, we've got more room to spread out. I made a poster for our project already." it's propped against the wall, all decked out with nice lettering and pictures.

"I suppose that's one of the perks of running your own business," Emily mused, "Though I'm sure it must have taken a lot of hard work to get to that point."

She smiled as she glanced around the room. It seemed like a nice space, homey but not too cramped. She already knew Ren was a smart, resourceful kind of person, and it showed in the way he kept his room. And of course he'd already gotten a head start on the class project.

"That's great! Let me show you what I've got so far." She sat down, pulling her notes out of her backpack. "Between the two of us, we'll have this done in no time." And then they could just hang out and get to know each other.

"Boss has been through a lot to get here." just to sit and do crosswords half the time.

He was smart and resourceful enough to get himself on probation and relocated here. He was brilliant, truly. But his test scores spoke for themselves. He looked over Emily's notes and made some of his own.

"If we take this and this... we can add it to the poster. These parts we can present orally in class, you can tell this half and I can tell the other half. We can write our parts out separately." and that would be enough to get a passing grade.

"To finish it off we can talk about some of the history behind this. I can look it up and you write it down." and they'd have an A+ just like that.

Emily watched Ren laying out their materials and adding to what they'd compiled, and her smile broadened. She could see where he was going with it, and she felt confident it would get them the grade they wanted. He really was a genius.

"See?" she said, "This is why I was so excited work with you. We're going to make a great team!"

Meh, he was decent at school, he would admit. It's part of why he was the leader of the Phantom Thieves, not that Emily was allowed to know that.

"I'm flattered. But I think this leaves us with a finished project and an easy A and a lot of time on our hands." they could go to the movie theater down the street or go downstairs and eat some leftover curry or... something else.

"That's true..." Emily glanced around, then back at Ren, studying his expression. Her parents would be working late, and all that waited for her at home was an empty apartment. If he didn't mind the company, she certainly didn't mind staying. "I don't have to be home for a while yet. What do you like to do for fun?"

"You can stay here then, it's safer." safer than walking her to the train station... not really but he wanted her here. "Lots of things, I read, I watch movies, play games. I've got an old console over there if you want to play or there's a theater down the street if you want to go." or they could just sit close together and watch tv for a little bit. He's been sitting close with her this whole time, she's nice and warm, he doesn't really want to move.

Emily nodded, instinctively leaning a little closer. When her parents had been planning their move, she'd heard that crime in Japan was low compared to a lot of places in the United States, but there had been some disturbing things on the news lately. Having already let them know she was studying with a classmate, she didn't really feel like going home alone just yet. She liked playing video games almost as much as she liked fixing old consoles, but she knew she could be competitive, and she didn't want to spoil the mood.

"Let's see if there's anything good on tv."

She could be competitive all she wanted, he was quite used to Futaba doing the same. She was welcome to tinker with his old console if she wanted. For now he turned on the television to see some horror film on. Maybe Emily likes horror, maybe it will get her to scoot closer...

Lucky for them it was close to the scary part, he'd seen this movie before. The scene was quiet, soothing even, but there was about to be a jump scare as the main heroine was accosted by the killer.

Emily knew it was coming. She knew the tropes. The soft music and the seemingly serene atmosphere were just the calm before the storm. But she got so caught up in trying to anticipate the jump scare that it still crept up on her, drawing a gasp from her throat as she grabbed for Ren's arm.

He smirked in the darkened room but left his arm open for her to lean into him. This seemed snugger, maybe she'd prefer sitting like this. He did, it was softer this way. Don't look now, the killer was about to pull another jump scare on the boyfriend coming to help.

Emily could feel herself blush hotly, glancing sheepishly from the screen to her classmate as she realized she was invading his space. He didn't seem to react in any negative way, so she relaxed, and turned back to the television...just in time to see the killer jump out again. This time, when Emily turned and hid her face against Ren's shoulder, she told herself she was just pretending to be scared.

Adrenaline rush or no, it did feel nice to be close to him like that.

Pretending or no, he curled his arm around her, both in fact. She was scared it was the gentlemanly thing to do! He patted her back.

"It's alright, he's gone now." this was working out well. Maybe she'd just stay like this all curled up against him.

Emily sighed softly as Ren put his arms around her. She looked up again when he said it was safe, but stayed nestled at his side with her head on his shoulder. Leaning on him was nice, but being held was even better.

Her pulse was still racing a bit, but not entirely in a bad way. Now it was more like butterflies in her stomach. "I'm glad I'm not watching this at home, alone."

He held her a bit tighter, snuggling with her. She didn't seem to mind this arrangement either. A warm smile grew on his face.

"I am too, I get scared when I'm alone in a dark room with a scary movie on." a smirk. "Better to have you with me. We don't have to finish it you know." it was nice holding her. Maybe she'd be into just... staying this close. Maybe even a touch closer but he didn't want to push her and offend her.

"Do you?" She didn't think most guys would admit that. Maybe he was just trying to make her feel better. If so, it was working. She smiled, slipping her arms around him and returning the squeeze. "I don't mind either way. But this is nice."

Whether they finished the movie or not, she didn't really want to let go.

"Oh yeah, sleeping alone is the worst afterward." it was half true, he didn't like being creeped out and alone in the dark just like any person. Her hug was nice though, he was making progress. "Here, my back's getting stiff twisting like that." he pulled her into his lap. That might be too bold but she could lay her head on his shoulder like this. He could just... let his hands wander too if he felt it might work. Maybe his hand moves down to her hip. Maaaaybe a bit closer to her ass. If she doesn't protest of course.

With this position their faces were closer. Cheek to cheek practically. It wasn't anything to turn his head and kiss her. Who wanted to watch this cheesy movie anyway?

Emily let him pull her into his lap, murmuring in affirmation as she settled in again. The feeling of his hands on her body made her spine tingle with anticipation, and she snuggled closer, turning her face toward his. His lips brushed hers, and she let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding, lips parting to welcome the kiss.
