Timey wimey shenanigans? What could possibly go wrong? Everything.

If Ben Solo had five credits for every time he tried to do something good, only to have it blow up in his face, he’d have enough to win the Millennium Falcon three times over. This time, he’d seen his past self, somehow, and he’d encouraged him to take steps down a better path. At least, he thought it was a better path.

Kylo Ren hadn’t exactly received this Force visitor in good spirits. Then again, the death of Han Solo was an open, raw, festering wound. In fact, some of the physical wounds he sustained in Starkiller were still raw and open as well. He felt like he was losing what was left of his mind, and a vision of himself from the future didn’t help.

But somehow, the long conversation started to make sense. If this was a hallucination or a feverish delusion, so be it. He wanted this sense of belonging that his future self spoke of. He wanted someone who would never leave or send him away. He wanted so badly not to be constantly torn apart.

Unfortunately, those wants betrayed him the moment he set foot in the Supreme Leader’s throne room.

The Supreme Leader knew that someone had influenced his apprentice, though not exactly who or how. And Kylo, stripped of his mask, berated and ridiculed, wounded and desperate, took that vision of the future and struck back - hard. He was swarmed by Praetorian Guards within moments, and while a few died at his hands, Kylo couldn’t fight them all alone. Nor could he stop the mental assault of his master.

All of the interrogation techniques he’d implemented on the Resistance members paled in comparison to what Snoke was truly capable of. His blood felt like it was on fire. His bones felt like they were going to shatter. His scream could be felt through the Force star systems away. His father’s words echoed in his throbbing head - ‘When he gets what he wants, he’ll crush you.’

And for a moment, those words were about to ring true.

Then came the explosion. The unstable lightsaber had been shaking in his grip, but he’d refused to let go. The cracked crystal finally fractured completely, and the resulting surge overwhelmed both the vents and the activator. It blew with enough Force to burn through armor and flesh alike, throwing everyone in the scuffle clear across the room. The damage was extensive. The Supreme Leader was unconscious, maybe even dead, as were the remaining guards. Kylo was fading fast, and about to join them.

A quick hand through the fur on its head while it investigated the denim of his jeans, Thor was convinced the canine was the real McCoy, as Tony would have said.

Gripping the animal's collar gently, Thor managed to force the gentle beast back far enough to get the nose out of his nethers. The god's face broke into a smile, the dog seemed happy to see him! He'd never been one much for animals, but sitting on the bench in the park, Thor realized a canine companion would be perfect for the moment.

"Hello again," he said, his full attention now on the animal, both hands scruffing at the short fur on the canine's neck. "Have you lost your family?" Thor asked the dog, his tone soft, quiet. He hadn't expected the sting of his own words. Instead, he quickly followed it up with another:

"Can I help you find them?"
