THE ALPHA/BETA/OMEGA MEME


In our world, sexual roles are commonly defined by genders -- male or female or other, by sexualities -- gay or straight, bi or asexual or in-between. But what if they were defined by something else entirely?

Alpha/Beta/Omegaverse is a fusion of fanfiction tropes and animalistic behavior. In this world, sexual roles are divided into three categories: the Alphas (the dominant, the protective and the aggressive), the Betas (ordinary humans) and the Omegas (submissive, fertile and able to carry children).

ROLES:
1 - The Alpha.
* Stereotypically type A personalities.
* Anatomically: Males have a penis; females may have a penis in addition to a vagina.
* Alphas knot their mates, meaning that the base of the penis swells and locks them inside their mate while they produce copious amounts of semen in an effort to breed.
* Strong sense of smell.
* Near an Omega in heat, they experience a compulsion to mate that is almost impossible to overcome.
* Alphas may go into rut, which is their equivalent of Omega heat, and drives them to mate.

2 - The Beta.
* Ordinary human being.
* Lack of altered genitalia.
* Can mate to anyone.
* Might be able to smell hormones of Omegas and Alphas, but will not be overwhelmingly affected by them.

3 - The Omega.
* Stereotypically submissive, quiet, intelligent and less physically able.
* Female anatomy is similar to Betas; males are self-lubricating and may have either an external or internal vaginal setup.
* Regularly go into heat, which involves being overcome by the urge to mate. They are unable to consent while in heat.
* May be made compliant by a bite to the neck. However, that may also induce a mating bond.
* Often regarded as second-class citizens or prizes to be won.

SITUATIONS:
1 - Bonding - Love at first sight. You've spotted your soulmate. You can smell them, you can feel them, you know that they'll be with you until the end of your days. Unless there's something between the two of you. It could be age - maybe one of you has to wait until the other has reached maturity. It could be that the bond is one-sided, and the other has yet to fall in love. It could be an unwanted bond, or society could have divided you into different places. Is your love strong enough to conquer?

2 - Heat/Rut - The need is coming on you strong. Everyone for a half-mile around can smell it. Better find someone to ride it out with, or hole yourself up in a room with a few bottles of water and a durable sex toy. And you'd better hope that there isn't someone out there who will take advantage of your pliable state. Best case scenario, there might be a Beta who can take care of you, or fend off anyone too predatory.

3 - Pregnancy - Whether through a heat or not, you're pregnant. Congratulations - or condolences. Is it time to start a family, or time to start panicking?

4 - Suppressants - You're using suppressants to keep yourself on an even hormone cycle, skipping heats, or maybe pretending to pass as a different class of society. After all, Omegas might want to be in the military, where they're not usually allowed - or an Alpha might want to take a job in a university or as a nurse. Shouldn't they be allowed to, if their hormones are suppressed? Just hope that you don't miss a dose.

5 - Mistaken Identity - That friend that you always thought was an Alpha, or an Omega, or a neutral Beta, turns out to be something entirely different, and your world is turned absolutely upside down. Does it challenge your preconceptions? Or does it just ruin the balance between you two?

6 - Unlikely Pairs - After all, there's no actual reason that Alphas have to mate with Omegas. Maybe two Omegas can satisfy each other. Or two Alphas. Or your intended mate could easily be a Beta. Maybe this is just about breaking out of your pre-established role and becoming something new.

7 - Manifestation - In some cases, an individual may not know they are Omega, Beta or Alpha until their first heat/rut/manifestation, usually happening in early teen years. It may take you by surprise; it may be a blessing, or may be a deep disappointment.

8 - Other - Adventures in getting jobs, making families, fighting bad guys, and anything else you can come up with!

[ Precanon Lucifer is best, all things considering. Lol. Which means Marcus could be either working as a lieutenant in Chicago still, or thought it was time to move to another city if you want him in Matt's backyard instead.

I think he'd be an interesting person for Matt to come into contact to, pretty sure the immortal physiology would have some difference on his senses. I'm pretty sure Marcus has been putting off his Alpha needs for some time as well, so someone with Matt's abilities would be able to sense that too. ]

Maybe we can assume DD met Sinnerman first to bust up a deal of some sort, then Matt met up with the new lieutenant at the courthouse or something, and instantly picks him out from how different he is.

I think 4 is definite for Marcus, and 2 is likely for either of them. And despite being A/A, which position do you prefer them to be in if they get that far? Marcus exudes controlling alpha, but when he gets into his depressive funk, he totally gives up control. ]

[With someone he's close to, I could see him being in the more vulnerable position, but I'd say he might be more of a top with someone there's animosity/uncertainty with. Fight-rut-sex could always have there be switches. I'd be fine with Matt taking the lead.]

And yes, I'm fine with fighty/rough moments. Outside of actual non-con, I'm open to resistance before compliance. And just general butt kickery from both parties.]

Got a call for a meeting with Fisk's lackeys that he needs to meet up with, and Matt, of course, overhears that phone convo and starts tailing him. ]

[I'm comfortable with dub-con, particularly in this scenario. I know Marcus isn't going to lean towards rape, but I figured I'd just lay out what my personal boundaries are in terms of allowances. I'm generally cool with most things, but outright non-con is a no for me.

Anything bringing up Fisk's name is definitely going to get Matt's attention. And probably put him in an already aggressive/not-happy state of mind to begin with, so he might be less inclined to try to talk it out first, hence the beating and slipping into rut.]

Edelgard canonically has experimentation in her past so willing to work with presenting as Alpha (or Beta) but in reality started life as Omega (of which I can work with multiple different societal structures if you're curious about a non-standard set up).

Relocating was always a chore, but a necessity when he worked too long in one location. People started to know him, get attached, and things become messy if he stayed more than a few years. At least nowadays, with the whole Sinnerman enterprise set up, moving between cities became easier.

Unless there was already a shadow criminal mastermind in place in his new home, and Marcus found out about it too late after his station transfer papers went through. So he had to play nice with them instead, which was what brought him to answering calls directly, and setting up meetings with the local boss, a job that was normally beneath him.

The call came right after his visit to the courthouse to drop off some documents for the precinct, and since it was the end of the day, Marcus agreed to Fisk's last minute meetup. He told the patrolman who dropped him off to go, and he would make his way back later.

The meeting location was close by, he could walk.

If anything at any time could catch Matt's attention, no matter what the circumstance, it was the mention of Fisk's name. That it was being said by a new transfer in from out of state, a new Lieutenant for one of the station houses... Matt's radar pinged hard enough to physically hurt him.

He didn't have time to go and grab his outfit, and it was still a few hours from dark, but as he trailed after the Lieutenant, he darted into an army surplus store, buying black combat trousers, a long-sleeved black shirt, and a cotton t-shirt he tore up into strips to tie around the top of his head. It was quick and messy, but it did the job- which he did in an alley as he changed and tucked his suit and cane away before climbing up the fire escape to the roof to continue following Marcus. There was something off about the man that had been niggling at the back of his head since he'd met him in court a few weeks ago, but he hadn't been able to put his finger on it. It wasn't just the reek of a dirty cop- that was rampant in his city and a stench he was used to. But this... this was different. He was different.

He took a running leap to jump from one roof to another, bypassing the six foot gap and rolling to his feet to keep track of the man below him.

Very few people could get a jump on the immortal, but Marcus kept a watch on only his backside, not from above. So he presumed he wasn't followed as he wended his way from the main street into a side alleyways, then slipping through the lesser roads of Hell's Kitchen.

Being new to the city, he could only rely on his phone's map and GPS to tell him where to go, but followed them only sparsely, deciding to stay off the main streets. After all he was heading to a clandestine meeting, even though the target was supposedly a respectable man of society as well. Not that it meant much these days, the best criminals were also the best dressed citizens of any city.

It was a convoluted path, and at more than one point he had to pause to reorient himself with his phone's map to see where he should go.

For now, all Matt knew about Marcus was that he was a new Lieutenant and that Fisk's name had come up. As much as he wanted to jump down and beat the information out of him, he needed something more solid. Something to sink his teeth into. His hands curled into fists as he stopped at the edge of a building, tuning in to street level to find Marcus apparently checking his phone again. He couldn't pick up what was on a screen; there was only so much his abilities extended in terms of what he could pick up. Movies or shows on tv and anything on a computer or phone screen was still blank to him. Other than the fact the phone was on and Marcus' heart rate seemed steady the whole time, Matt could only follow and hope that maybe- maybe he'd catch Fisk in something compromising he could use against him.

A quiet plea upward to a God he hoped was paying attention, and Matt moved to the next building to continue following.
