[ Rebuilding a relationship with her brother was... difficult, to say the least. There had been violent outbursts, kidnapping, questionable morals-- but Zuko kept giving her chances. The princess had abandoned her quest for the throne, that fact alone had enabled her to return to the capital without much question despite the lack of trust he and his friends had for her. Now, her desire to shape Zuko to be the Lord she wanted was out in the open. It wasn't as easy as she wanted to be, he fought her every step of the way.

Even now, he had sent her out on some mission she could barely remember to get her away from the castle. Azula had thrown a nasty fit, which only earned her a "chaperone" since she couldn't be trusted to handle anything without eyes on her the entire time. Another chance she was bound to screw up, was bound to have to start from scratch with Zuko when she couldn't get it together the way he wanted. Really, the loser in this scenario was Sokka and they both knew it, a punishment for the two of them.

For the most part, Azula had kept quiet. Almost. It was hard to not be scathing when most of the party proved to be mindless, her sharp wit almost as deadly as the electricity that sparked from her fingers when she threatened the others. Except Sokka, of course, who increasingly was impressing her with his commands and leadership. It was never the way she would do it, but he was successful and Azula thought better of it than to jeopardize it just to anger Zuko. For once.

It was late now, most everyone had disappeared to their tents to crash. Azula never slept much now, too haunted by nightmares to willingly go to bed. She found herself settling onto the ground beside Sokka in front of that night's fire, the flames burning higher, brighter, blue as she approaches before finally calming. ]
