Your character has either been injured/sick and had to be taken in (possibly against their will) or has been the one to help somebody like the former. Through the mending process, the two characters in a thread have fallen in love - or at least grown closer and more affectionate.
[ooc: Either the one being nursed or the nurse. If the nurse he'd be very awkward about telling anyone that it was alright when it wasn't (especially because the injury or disease would likely be enough to put someone off their feet for awhile so it's serious). However, he'd be good about fetching things and making sure patient was fed. I'd prefer gen if possible.]
He heard Lithuania desperately pleading for him to get up. One eyelid sluggishly opened. The other eventually followed. His cheek scratched against the frozen snow beneath him and he struggled to raise his head. Poland's breath hitched in his lungs. It was painful and it was cold. His eyes blinked blearily to regain a sense of his surroundings.
He writhed a bit. Dug his knee into the ground for traction. Poland pushed himself up with his arms. They trembled, but he couldn't pull himself up. He tried again, grabbed at the snow beneath him with stinging, aching hands. Pain seared through him and he couldn't get up.
Russia smiled, Lithuania begged and Poland laid in the snow. It was absurd. It was laughable. This wasn't actually happening, right?
Lithuania was pulled away. His face screwed up with tears, reaching out helplessly for him. Poland forcibly propped his head up, kicked his legs back and forth trying to pump the blood into them and forced a laugh out of his aching chest. He forced himself to say something, Lithuania's pained expression staring back at him--
--Lithuania receded from view and he couldn't get up. His body was heavy, it hurt to move and his lungs ached with each breath.
He was so cold.
Poland shivered as he starred up at the ceiling of the room. He grimaced, shifting his head against a pillow to peel mussed up hair from the back of his neck. The nightgown he was wearing was rumpled, the white fabric practically blending into the paleness of his own complexion. He grabbed for the sheets and blankets he had kicked off some time ago, pulling them up around him with a labored huff.
It was hard to tell how many days he'd been languishing in this bed. Sunlight would filter through the crack in the closed curtains and his eyes would briefly close. Once open again the room was engulfed in the dark. Time easily blurred together in impromptu naps brought on by fever. Poland's fingers twisted in the sheets.
A room, a pillow, a night gown, a set of sheets and a set of blankets -- not a single one his own. His entire body ached at the realization.
Austria hadn't wanted any of this. It was, perhaps, one of the only things he and his Empress saw eye to eye on -- close as they were, as much as she felt like family, they'd disagreed on so much over the years. Not wanting a hand in the tearing apart of a partnership was not one of those things. Perhaps better than anyone, Austria knew the value of a partnership between two nations. It was not even a century ago that he'd been split up from Spain. And while painful, the toll it took on him was not anywhere near what he'd known it would take on Poland and Lithuania.
Still, he considered the alternative. Prussia and Russia were set on it, and letting that land go to either of them seemed... unwise. Both for his own safety, and for Poland's well-being.
And he had Galicia. That was something. For a moment, he wondered if his Empress had been hesitant to take the territory because of that. And for that moment, he was spitefully content with this outcome. It had been the result of several heated arguments between himself and Prussia that Poland stayed with him for his initial recovery. After all, Austria had been the one to acquire the largest portion of Poland's population. For their kind, that factored the most into the healing process. Those people were now his responsibility.
It gave him a sense of importance, and he chose not to think of what may become of Lithuania. It was out of his control. All of this was, if he were honest, but he preferred to stay fixed on what he could have a say in.
Like getting this man fed.
The echoed clack of footsteps from expensive footwear and the rumble of a rolling cart approached the door, and Austria knocked.
"It's Austria. I had the chefs prepare two soups, beef and hen. Whichever you don't have, I will take."
His voice was flat. He debated asking permission to enter, but if there was anything Austria felt secure in with this newfound 'authority' over Poland, it was that he wasn't willing to let something as necessary as eating be among the things Poland might brush off or refuse about being here. He wouldn't risk food being turned away. And with any luck the aroma might lift his spirits. The weighty door swung open slowly.
"You need nourishment," he added quietly, once he was fully in the room, and he closed the door behind him.
[Her wheelhouse! Very inclined toward and equipped for (Weird Holistic Magical) caretaking, but that only makes the reverse more fun so I'm down for either. Issues for either party could range from anything mundane to straight up death, she's got it covered. Crosscanon/aus/assumed previous cr all welcome.]
[ injured party, 99.9% likely from a ridiculous fight since he's always getting into scraps. realistically looking at more of a gen angle tbh unless 1. you're min woojin or 2. it's one-sided, which is fine w me if it's fine w you — technically m/m but since it's one-sided it doesn't matter as much i guess. ]
[very likely the injured party, but he can patch up a wound if needs be. i'm pretty sure he could have a leg cut off and still insist he's fine, so have fun with that.]
