[Whatever the hell Lucian is, it isn’t natural. They caught his scent as soon as he came within range. At least three miles off. By the time the man reached a mile past the border, they were there. Three of them, Jacob, Paul, and Quil. A vampire? No. Something else? Definitely. Going for the kill on the unknown wasn’t exactly approved of. They wanted to know first. But… Paul had an even worse temper problem than the others and—as they found out soon enough—Lucian liked a fight. How one non-vampire managed to stand up against three werewolves was surprising enough, but the fact he not only escaped their pack, but returned later to show off? Ugh…
What should’ve been a “just passing through” scenario turned into a “stick around for a while” period. The man wasn’t doing anything against the Quileute or threatening harm to people, and curiosity was a thing. Hence the invite for him to stay for a while. It wasn’t all bad though. The guy was arrogant and petulant, but his abilities were fascinating. Watching him shift his shape while they sat around the campfire led to plenty of laughter and teasing. Comparing Lucian’s enhanced abilities with their own was also fun. Obstacle courses in the woods, hunting animals (fresh > store bought), bouts of wrestling. Lucian also joined them in their pastimes when they weren’t patrolling. Cliff jumping into the cold ocean, racing vehicles on highways in the Washington wilderness, other things their parents wouldn’t be proud of if they ever found out. Even though Lucian had his own place in Forks, the pack enjoyed the thrill-seeking break from the normal when he came by for visits.
Only thing that bugs Jacob is when Lucian tries goading him into a rematch. Not some skirmish, but another full-blown fight. He doesn’t have a reason to, since Lucian isn’t a threat. But apparently that first run-in gave the man a taste he wants to sample again. Jacob had resisted, but today, Lucian pushed enough buttons. Apparently don’t make me angry is code for “let’s have fun” for Lucian. The man’s place isn’t too far from their current spot in the woods, but as Jacob looms over Lucian, he’s glad they’re out here. Not really convenient for anything but a throwdown between a horse-sized russet wolf and a man who can augment his shape. Dagger-like incisors gleam wet as the wolf’s lips quiver in a snarl, one large paw pressing down on Lucian’s chest. He just has to snap his jaws and the blonde’s throat won’t be around anymore.
But all Lucian has to do is close his hand and Jacob’s windpipe’s gone. He feels it even through his fur. Guess it’s a draw… But at least he turned the blonde’s fancy shirt into a trashy during the fight. Good consolation prize. And that linebacker’s body Lucian’s got isn’t anything to scoff at either, gleaming in the cool woodland air.]
