You're about to go off the rails. No, no "about," actually. You've left that train track far behind, and you're crazy. Rage fills every inch of you, and there's no doubt you're about to do something dangerous, stupid, or reckless. Or all three. There's only one person who can calm you down: your partner. Now, they're using closeness, reassurance, or physical intimacy to remind you what really matters, which is the two of you. Surely, this will bring you back, letting the anger ebb out and you'll be able to think straight again, even if your lover was the actual cause of all this mess. Won't it? Surely you won't direct your wrath towards them, no matter what. Booted feet pounded down the corridor toward the bridge. "Talyn, calm yourself, this is not your emotion, this is Crais. Help me to help him." Her voice was loud but not harsh, an effort to calm the leviathan who was spooked by the feedback from his Sebacaen pilot.

[The Phoenix Mountain hunt had been a surefire disaster in many, many ways. Most of these were the fault of others—Actually most of it could be linked back to Wei Wuxian’s showing off and Zixun’s need to start a fight at even teh slightest threat to his over-inflicted ego. But that didn’t matter.

Guangyao, in his first act of trying to prove himself a valuable member of the Jin family, had worked tirelessly to make the banquet perfect in every way and to make sure it pleased his father’s more sadistic tendencies to boot. And what had he gotten for his troubles? No sleep, being yelled at by everyone from Madam Jin, to Zixun, to his father’s anger.

It’s not as though he was unused to this treatment, but it burned. His flawless smile strained, the mask beginning to crack. He sees everyone settled in their rooms and turns from his own rooms to the gardens, walking stiffly through them. The restless feeling claws at his chest and his throat, fingers clenched so tightly he’s half-afraid he’ll break them himself. He reaches up instead to remove his hat, clenching it tightly in his hands as he shakes his hair free a little. The fabric bends and creases.

Had this been worth it? He had to do better. More. He couldn’t fall here, he had done too much and fallen too far to let it end here. A scream bubbles, catches in his throat, audible only by the frustrated noise he makes as he drops into a crouch, pressing his face against the hat and trying to breathe. It smells of peonies and honey like his hair, which is a welcome change to the scent of wine that still clings to his robes from Zixun’s throwing his drink on him earlier.]
