The Thirst Trap Meme

Set a scene, get the right angle, reveal a little thigh, and snap! A thirst trap is a sexy photo posted on social media to attract attention. It can also refer to a person considered sexy—a social-media crush. Emerging from selfie culture, the well-staged thirst trap is a provocative photo, often with a coy or confident caption, that will trap (attract) thirst (attention, in the form of comments, likes, etc.).

Because, really, what’s the point of posting if no one is going to notice?

How it works:

- Post with your character name and fandom in the subject line. Include any prefs or no-no's.

- Comment with a link to an image of your character's very own thirst trap. To be safe, label them accordingly! (i.e., NSFW or not.)

- Tag around! Respond to others! Rate them, judge them, tell them what you wanna do to them.

[ Edelgard forgets that they never do seem agree on much of anything these days, doesn't she? ]

As a matter of fact, I do not. Your asking is but another whim; it will be gone before this conversation is finished, yet anything I might say would certainly not be forgotten with ease.

[ Perhaps for once she was the one too idealistic. It seems to her that he should consider her capable enough not to ask things she is unwilling to know. ]

You think this is a whim?

[ Oh, he does. He fully expects her to be willing to know; it's the truth of his feelings that would be unwanted, not to say immediately discarded. ]

It must be. My thoughts on this matter should be of no inherent worth to you, as far as I understand. Or do you wish me to simply sing your praises?

[ Has he considered laying down his arms? That could make an impression. ]

I think you may have forgotten that you started this conversation, Dimitri.

[ He would, if she did the same. If she would be willing to talk to him about more than scandalous feelings of lust over bare ankles. ]

I have not. I did so out of consideration for your modesty. We may cross blades now, but we were friends, once.

[ Not just at the Academy, either. ]

[ The only reason she talks to him about potentially scandalous feelings is because he spoke up in the first place. ]

We were classmates.

[ He so did not. ]

Be that as it may, I would have done the same for any other woman. It is only the right thing to do, nothing more.

So it is mere chivalry.

A bare calf would have no affect on you in similarly close quarters.

Not any bare calf, no. Chivalry aside, I am still a man, and certainly not immune to feminine attributes.

[ But, again, it all boils down to circumstances. And feelings. Sappy, gross feelings. ]

[ Feelings? She doesn't know them. ]

Is 'not yours' what you mean to say?

[ Whatever she says. ]

Must you always look for hidden meanings behind my words? I said what I meant to say. Or should I also explain the circumstances in which a regular bare calf would become special to me?

[ At this point, that might be more straightforward than a yes or no answer. That, he can't provide. ]

If you feel the whim, yes, indulge me.

[ Know your enemy, as they say. ]

[ Not sure what she's gonna do with this particular bit of information, but okay. ]

Very well. The only circumstance in which I would allow my thoughts to stray that far would be my connection to that person. They would have to be someone I care deeply about, enough to pursue a relationship with without the immediate fear of rejection. Someone who gave me strength, as I would lend them mine.

[ Yes, he's an old-fashioned dumb romantic, it runs in the family. ]

[ It contributes to a greater understanding! ]

[ Forgive her if she seems a bit surprised. ]

So your thoughts would only linger on how attractive a bare leg is if you had already entered into a relationship with that person?

Ah, I suppose you may call it that.

[ He can't blame her for being surprised, though; up until not long ago, he was just a murderous beast, after all. But he may be surprised she's not downright calling him a fool. ]

But yes, that is how I would ideally hope to behave. Although I cannot claim to be wholly in control of my feelings, either. I don't believe anyone ever could.

[ Meaning his thoughts may or may not stray to how attractive someone is, even when they're completely out of reach. ]

[ She would not have been surprised to hear something similar from the Dimitri she faced in mock battles at the Academy, but things are very different now. He is very different.

But perhaps not quite as different as she believed. ]

You are human, Dimitri. None of us can control our every passing thought.

[ Is he? There may be another side to him now, one that had always been there, lying dormant; yet, that old Dimitri is also there, still. ]

I know that well. I have certainly nurtured a fair share of most regrettable thoughts, before.

But what about you, Edelgard? Have you ever had such thoughts, as well?

[ Is she still human? He'd like to believe she is. ]

[ No one said he could make her cheeks flush. ]

I am no less human than you are. It may happen occasionally.

[ But she will usher him away from that train of thought! ]

What thoughts do you regret?

If I were to say them aloud, then I would only be inviting them back. That is not a risk I can afford.

[ Especially some of his more vicious thoughts. Of all people, he definitely must not tell Edelgard about them. ]

But, as for less dangerous thoughts... I suppose indulging in scenarios that cannot come true. Sometimes they beget quite the heartache.

[ Oh, she thinks she may have an idea of what some of them may deal with. She has witnessed his anger. ]

In truth, I have done that from time to time as well.

[ In this she assumes he thinks mostly of his family, though, and even if they can agree on little else that is an ache she knows well. ]

But it does no good to linger on what-ifs.

[ Well, she is not wrong in assuming he means his family. Although, sometimes, that may include a very technical stretch of the definition. ]

I know that, as well. That is what makes them so regrettable, to begin with.

[ Even though some of them are still in the realm of feasibility, yet so... unreachable, all the same. ]

But, I do try not to linger. I imagine you must be the same?

[ For a moment she fails to look at him. ]

Of course.

[ She could admit it to perhaps a handful of people, if that, without it feeling like a sign of weakness. ]

Do you think me any less human than you?

[ He gives her a sad smile at that. ]

In some ways, I think you might be more human than me.

[ Though she may have her own incomprehensible ideals for this world, Edelgard never fully lost herself. And Dimitri, well... even now, he was still half beast, after all. ]

[ Her eyes widen for a moment, her surprise evident before she can rein it back in. ]

For what it is worth, Dimitri, I don't believe that is true.

[ He casts his eyes downwards at his hands, his same smile still in place. Even now, they still can't seem to agree, huh... ]

If you could see what these hands have done, how stained with blood they are... Then surely, you would change your mind.
