Happy endings are what we crave, right? If we see a couple we like in movies or in real life, we root for them to make it. Why, then, is there such a desire to see love that's tragic, doomed, or bittersweet? People watch sad movies like Titanic, and they know what will happen, but somehow that makes it more poignant. This goes all the way back to tales like Romeo and Juliet. There's just something about a good cry that makes us feel that much more human and even more receptive of beauty.

This meme is equal parts tragedy and beauty, sweet and bitter. Some prompts may be triggering, so tread with caution.

Prompts

1. Romeo and Juliet: The classic starcrossed lovers. You can't be together because of warring factions, and you're at the end of your rope. You have to do something.
   
2. Not the Same: Angel and demon. Human and god. Whatever the combination, you're not of the same kind. This probably won't end well, especially if one of you is immortal and the other's not, or there's some kind of power difference.
3. Past Wounds: One of you was hurt in the past, and it was so bad that it's hurting your relationship. Can you be healed by love, or is this something that can't ever be fixed?
4. Bad Things: This bad thing isn't in the past. This happened when you were together, and now it's affecting how your lover behaves toward you.
5. Loss: Perhaps it's a loss only one of you suffered, like a family member. Or it's something the both of you share, like the loss of a child. Sometimes, together you can pull through. Other times, it's just too much to bare.
6. I Can't Live Without You: Whether it be through injury, curse, terminal illness, one of you is dying. There's only a limited time left. Will you spend your last days with the person you love, or will you end it for their own good, so they don't have to watch you die?
7. Unfaithful: One of you has been unfaithful, even if you still love your significant other. Can this wrong ever be forgiven?
8. Gone Away: You're being torn apart by location and distance.
9. A New Start: The sweet part of bitter. Where one relationship ends, another begins. But is your heart too hurt to accept new love?

Hmph, you just can't handle as much alcohol as I do.

[He twitched when Barnaby tapped him but relaxed. Soon enough his hand begun to meet his partners.]

( barnaby rolled his eyes faintly and let his hand grip onto kotetsu's hand gently. the taxi drove and soon enough they were there.

the car stopped and then barnaby got out, holding a hand out to his partner. )

I bought you to a buffet, eat as much as you like.

[Kotetsu grinned. He wasn't sure how much he was going to eat, but he was grateful Barnaby didn't try to take him to a super fancy fine dining establishment. That just wasn't his style.

He took Barnaby's hand, pausing briefly after he got up to examine Barnaby's pretty youthful face. He looks away once he realizes he took too much time doing that.]

Aah- ready to go?

Yeah.

( he remained still a moment, admiring his partner's immaturity, even if he was the older one. it was something he'd grown to adore. )

Just don't break anything.

( barnaby smiled gently and led him into the restaurant. once inside, he pulled out some cash and paid and walked off to their table. )

H-hey- wait just a minute!

[He looked back and stopped to walk back over to the counter.]

Bunny.. you don't need to pay for me.

Hey!

( barnaby turned and then gripped his shoulder gently. )

Just shut up and enjoy it. You can pay me back later.

[He rubs his temples, but complies and heads over to follow Barnaby to their table.]

Does it bother you that much that I paid?

( he sat down and leaned back, relaxing a bit. )

Like I said you can pay me back later.

I already dropped in with no notice. I could at least pick up the tab.

[He sighed, leaning back into the chair.]

But you know, it's good to be back.

If you don't cut that out, I'll keep you indoors for the rest of your vacation.

( he smirked and waved a finger. )

Maybe I should...don't want you getting hurt.

Tch you can't keep this tiger inside, little Bunny.

[He reached over to poke him with a fork playfully, after asking about his drink choice to the waiter.]

( barnaby ordered a ginger ale and stared down at kotetsu. )

We'll see about that. What are you going to order first?

I've got to check up what they have at the buffet table first.

Maybe some meat or fried r-shrimp!

Go ahead, I'll wait here.

( the waiter came back with the drinks and barnaby grabbed his, drinking out of it gingerly. )

[He comes back just a few minutes later, a steak, some fries, and a little bit of fried rice in the corner of his meal.]

So tell me what's been going on with you lately?

I'll tell you when I come back.

( he rises up and is off to get his meal. barnaby returns with a salad, fruit, and a slice of salmon on the side. he sits back down and relaxes. )

Nothing much really, been hanging out with the others more than before....I um...

( barnaby takes a deep breath and then picks up his fork, biting into some lettuce. )

It's nothing.

[Kotetsu's just working on cutting his beef when Barnaby tries to drop the subject suddenly.]

You can tell me. I want to hear everything that happened.

[sensuality]

I....

( he pauses and places his fork down. )

I missed you.

[kaburagis]

[After pausing just to parse what Barnaby admitted, he puts one hand on Barnaby's cheek and leans in closer.]

I missed you too, Bunny.

Kotetsu...

( he blushed faintly, waiting. )

[kaburagis]

[He almost was about to lean in closer, but they were in public and he had to snap away.]

Daa- Maybe we should continue this later.

[sensuality]

Yeah.

( he reminds still and then chuckles, finishing eating what he has on his plate. )

Something tells me you haven't had a vegetable in years. You should really eat healthier. Don't want anything happening to you.

[Kotetsu nibbles on his fries now.]

Eh? You know Bunny, I put plenty of vegetables on my fried rice you know.

[Not to mention he had to eat healthy to some degree up until recently to keep his physique.]

( of course barnaby is only teasing. he picks up his drink and drinks it slowly. he sets it back down and continues at his food. )

But that's the only thing you know how to make.

My fried rice is really good and filling, that's all that counts!
