madeline chadwick | original character
MADELINE "MADDIE" CHADWICK
everybody comes to hollywood
Officially, Maddie has made her way up the Hollywood ladder by way of hard work, raw talent and good looks. She was born to a lower middle-class family in Oxford and only got into Guildhall by way of several scholarships and a good portion of debt. No one in her family had pursued the arts before and only a few, always men, had gone the academic route at all. In many ways, Maddie was a curiosity. A singular. A loner.
Starting in theatre like many a British actor, she quickly began landing leading roles, named one to watch from the get-go. Her first big break-through was as Juliet in a modern production of Romeo and Juliet, the role earning her a Laurence Olivier award and getting her quite a lot of publicity.
Spiraled forward by this success, Maddie auditioned for and got the leading role of Mary Knight in a new, high-profile military drama that became an instant success. On this show, she first met her fellow actor and co-star, Simon Ainsworth, whom she'd years later reconnect with and end up marrying.
British TV then began to see a lot of her face and she appeared on a handful of high-profile productions, however it wasn't until she appeared as Irene Adler on the long-running The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes that she got foot inside with the American market.
Invited to read for the lead in a new film adaption of The Lady of the Camellias, she was handpicked for the part and this production should become the accelerator for her Hollywood career. The role got her nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards and launched a long row of big projects in America.
All this sudden success was very good on her finances and very bad for her marriage, so buying herself a penthouse in Belgravia, she eventually left her husband and started a single life that entailed a lot of short-term dating and a lot of long-term drinking. She has been a notorious bachelorette in the Hollywood circles since.
Unofficially, Madeline Chadwick has kissed a lot of arse, sucked a lot of beep and slept with a lot of the right people, producers and directors and some fellow actors, to place her exactly where she intended to go from the beginning. Even more unofficially, she actually prefers women and has had short-lived relationships to a fair few of them throughout her years. They never last, though. The only thing that's lasting in her life is the fame and the glory.

TASHA BENEDICT
CELEBRITY CHEF
Competitive and innovative, Tasha runs her hugely successful Las Vegas restaurant with the help of her best friend and a blank check from her billionaire boss, who happens to be almost a decade younger than her. She's worked for and alongside some of the best chefs in the world, and is determined to add her name to that list, when she's not feeding her ego with her hit TV show or the next public appearance.
Tasha loves the glitz, glamour and recklessness of the big city and is known to over-indulge in all three. But underneath her celebrity facade is a woman who's fiercely loyal, passionate both in and out of the kitchen, and looking for love. She just has to find someone who can keep up with her hectic schedule, her intense lifestyle, and the fact that she always has to be on the top.
maggie colton (vampire oc)
Maggie Colton
"how do you become a vampire?" "thinking of singing up?"
In 1611 a vampire hunter caught up with Delphine and, though he was taken care of, Maggie was gravely injured. Delphine offered her a choice, and Maggie chose eternal life.
They separated after a while - although they meet up occasionally ("When did you last see her?" "Winston Churchill had just been made Prime Minister, I believe.") - and Maggie spent the years travelling, spending a few years in one city before moving on to the next.
A constant love of hers through the years has always been art, and somewhere along the line she returned to London and obtained a degree in art history.
Since 2019 she has lived in the United States, running the Colton Art Gallery in New Orleans, LA.

benedict dearborn — academic, exorcist, expert interior organizer
benedict dearborn
demons hate him, people tolerate him.
while not a priest, he primarily assists Tobias in exorcisms and general banishings of demons and malevolent spirits, but...not all the time does the diocese approve of the measure. that's when Ben goes in solo. mum's the word. when he isn't banishing these awful creatures out of your grandmother or your basement, Ben is trying to use his doctorate in religious studies for good, or at least putting people into some solid naps. it's okay — he keeps mostly to himself, prickly and neurotic as he is at worst, nerdy and protective at best. but please, don't call him an exorcist; he prefers 'demonologist.'
also, his guardian angel has been his friend since he was a child. that's normal, right?
Alessandra "Les" Gianni | OC
Alessandra "Les" Gianni
Female Street Racer & 100% Done with Bullshit
Les lives in the San Francisco area with a tight group of friends that she’s known since childhood. During the week, she works at a garage and detailing shop her friends own as their primary autobody repair and painting technician. On the weekends she can mostly be found at street races, concerts or at the beach.
She has a mountain of trust issues stemming from her childhood but once she trusts someone, she’s fiercely loyal and essentially ride or die. Basically you're kind of stuck with her as a friend.

I should mention that I did a ton of research on IndyCar so that she was accurate - so her tags can often mention things and people that you might not have heard of. Please let me know if you need any explanations! Sometimes I get super-nerdy and forget that other people don't know what she means.
no subject
That's really cool that you've done that! I've been starting to do things like that with Les too but there's still so much I DON'T know. :) So yes! I will definitely need explanations!

Definitely more canon-adjacent. Originally in her world, it was a film franchise much like our own but now I've had her interact with F&F muses now and it's a bit more fun that way.
no subject
You're also welcome to hit up any of her posts in the jamjar comms too. I usually have her post in either sixwordstories or wayswithwords after every race just to get off her chest however it went!
no subject
Oh yes! I think I've seen Shelby on wayswithwords and will definitely hit up a post. I need to post there sometime but I've been nervous. :)

In my head she's like mowing the lawn at her house in Indianapolis, LOL.

Piper Allison / Alessandra De Luca | Non-fandom Supernatural OC
Piper Allison | Alessandra De Luca
½ of a Former Prophesied Duo
She had known at an early age, thanks in part to her grandmother, that she wasn't like all the other kids her age. She wasn't sure what that was truly about until her senior year when the things out of nightmares came calling for her and Jordan as the prophesied Enchanted ("the strongest two witches the world would ever see blah blah blah"). After that, Piper wanted to find and learn everything she could. Somewhere between settling in London after graduating college and their 21st birthday, all hell broke loose. At the age of twenty one, Piper watched her best friend (and sister prophecy witch) and her lover killed by demons and realized one valuable lesson: be careful what you wish for.
After their deaths, Piper Allison disappeared off the radar (barely recognizing how selfish it was to leave her boyfriend's childe to his own devices afterward) and Alessandra De Luca was born out of her ashes. She traveled to places she'd heard through the grape vine that would benefit her training - physically, mentally and magically - and sought to learn all that she could, skill sets that may or may not hurt along the way. Wanting to give up too many times to count, Alessandra kept on with one motivation: revenge. She would find those responsible for her friends’ deaths and see to their end. No, she doesn't play fair and no, she doesn't always play for the good side, but she does see to it that justice is served with whatever means possible. She is far from perfect and she is not above playing dirty. Les has of course met up time and time again with her old friend (although she would insist they weren't quite friends, frankly he's the closet thing she's had to a friend in years) - teaming up against those that have wrong them.
Those who knew her in high school would hardly recognize this woman as the same Piper Allison. Her life has been completely rewritten as Alessandra De Luca moves from place to place, battling human and supernatural forces alike and tries hard to not let the guilt overwhelm her.

caelan trevino | mutant oc
CAELAN TREVINO
"I DON'T WANNA DIE BUT I AIN'T KEEN ON LIVING EITHER."
Not long after she turned 18 they realized they were losing control over her. And either they put a chip in her brain to block her powers or they somehow became dormant. The government disposed of her like she was garbage.
While she can't use her powers she can still feel everything on a cosmic level. That added with the guilt and shame of all the things she has done has made her miserable. While she often wishes she was dead she also thinks she deserves to suffer. Caelan suffers from depression and anxiety and PTSD. While she's often rude and sarcastic and acts like she doesn't care, she does deeply. And when someone finally manages to get through to her Caelan will do anything for them. She is often self-deprecating and views herself as a monster.
She has no interest in regaining her powers. Or any interest in the issues in the world around her (particularly ones with mutants if she's in a mutant based world). She just wants to get high and will chase whatever it is she can get that feeling from.

This character does not...even remotely...look like it, but they're actually closer in age than it appears (he's ~19 or 20) although he'd probably still gravitate more heavily towards a fatherly/big brother type of relationship than a strictly 'friends' one, if you're ever interested in trying out CR via a meme or something! I'm all for adventures with characters who are very different classes as far as powers go (this guy is very overpowered, although not at all invincible) especially if there's that, like. Self-aware humor of "what the hell is going on" from both ends.
Anyway, just some drive-by love, and an offer for a thread if you're interested!

and omg i would absolutely love too! i keep meaning to watch castlevania too lol. but i am totally here for a fatherly/big brother type relationship. let's do the thing!

Alucard is from a history setting (the late 1400s) but i can happily AU him into present day for this.

ambrose sinclair — vampire, singer, existentialism on two legs
ambrose sinclair
a life worth dying twice for
he wasn't told about...everything else involved in this gracious gift.
the immortal nightmare was a brief trial for the fledgling vampire — soon made a target by his sire's enemies, he and a select few others made by their sire were interred into the earth as the dead they were, kidnapped and trapped in coffins. unable to escape, there they laid. as the most gruesome and unexpected time capsules ever, only one in the group, discovered two centuries later, was able to be roused.
by now, Ambrose is living a forward-driven life in New York city, singer and actor at a theatre devoted to the wide variety of supernaturals, immortals, cryptids...whatever you choose to call them. he isn't alone in this artful venture alongside others just as beyond human as himself, however — this is a hard-won victory for a fledgling without his still-missing sire (and probably better for it) while still learning what he is, and about the world that grew exponentially around him. he doesn't know how a rotary has anything to do with an iPhone, but he's adept at the hashtag, and unabashedly loves Moulin Rouge (Lady of the Camellias was one of his favorite books, so he was doomed from the start.)
there are still challenges concerning his blood lust, a desire to kill that isn't his, missing sunlight, learning his own worth, and the looming uncertainty of what an immortal life will lead him to, but... Ambrose is still learning how to show up to dress rehearsals on time. all in good time.
Isolde, Lilith, Rosalie | OC
isolde (lilith, rosalie, there's a lot of names)
WITCH, DEMON, ACTUAL AWFUL PERSON
She, along with other women of her village were tried and killed for their involvement in witchcraft. She spent at least a hundred years in hell before she got the opportunity to leave as deal-maker. Eventually, she left Scotland for the US and has been staying there since in various forms and names.
Her relationship with Hell is rather in a bad shape right now, as she refuses to make deals based in the various covens and communities she sets herself in. (As well as a few other things that can't be forgiven. Stealing beasts for her own personal use, killing the various higher ranking demons they send after her, etc...)
Despite this, her relationship with humans (and humanity) is regulated as either a thing that keeps her amused or a horrible race that deserves every indignity done to them. She has killed and disrupted many human lives and will mostly continue doing it.

Jamie | OC based on Changeling: the Lost
JAMIE
prince of spring
Jamie is a Changeling: he was once human and was captured by the fae, and kept in Arcadia for an unknown period of time as a servant. His time in Arcadia fundamentally changed him, and when he manages to get back to the human world, he is no longer human himself. Capable of performing magic and seeming otherworldly without his mein in place, Jamie is now and forever will be somewhere between human and fae.
His real history is something like this: alone and unloved, he caught the eye of one of the True Fae, called Muirgheas, and was swept away one night while he slept. He woke in luxury, but the illusion quickly faded. Every human that enters Arcadia must have some of their humanity taken from them, one way or another. None of the changelings know why - they assume it's to avoid going mad, but none of them know if it actually works. Sometimes the process is agony; sometimes it's just forgetting. For Jamie, it became both. He was a favored companion, talented enough to keep the Old Man entertained and clever enough to remember little pieces of his past life. After time untold, Jamie took part in a plot to escape. He'd become a favorite of their master and he was the one that helped to slit his throat. It might not kill the Old Man, but it gave them time to run. Along with several other changelings, he escaped in a mad, wild dash through the Hedge and back into the mortal world - the real world.
Returning to the world years after he left it was a shock at first, his only chance at survival was to join a changeling freehold: a safe place for people like him to avoid the True Fae. Changelings have power, after all, especially in groups. Cadeus, Quick, and Sam - changelings that escaped with him - convince him to stay in the freehold for safety and for familiarity. Jamie's shining and warm personality led him to the Spring Court. He has spent the last several years just trying to get by with all the drama of his new world while also avoiding the attention of the Fae.

Marshall | Original
MARSHALL
COWBOY OUT OF HIS HABITAT| EYE OF THE SUN
Somewhere beyond their reach, the Old Gods started to stir... craving for anything that would create a spark of intrigue from within the monotony of eternity.
Marshall-- a down on his luck farmhand just trying to get his ailing mother back East for appropriate medical care-- had the dubious fortune of stumbling upon the grand game that was brewing in parts unknown to humanity. The dawn of 1889 began with an eclipse, and Marshall caught a glimpse of the eldritch creature made of void and light that existed beyond the sun. Ever since he's had a series of troubles befall him, ranging from the visual disturbances wrought by literally staring at the sun, to knowing details that were not his to know, to having to join hands with a child-like vampire to stop a feral werewolf from slaughtering the passengers aboard the very train he booked tickets for his family to take cross country in their journey. A deal was struck with the young-looking Vampire: help her with her task across the Atlantic as her 'bodyguard', and she will see that his family has enough funds to afford appropriate medical care and survive life in New York.
Naturally, Marshall took the deal. For better or for worse.

I... drafted things in college focusing on the baby Vampire, since my friends were deep into the Old World of Darkness games and we were preparing for a campaign. Marshall here was a comedy relief of a side character-- a Mage type, even if he didn't act it. I recently found those drafts and realized my folly, because it's actually more hilarious to focus on this man here.
As a fair warning, this man is DUMB. In DnD terms, he has a bad habit of rolling crit fails on fairly ordinary knowledge and understanding checks. It took him months to realize his Boss was a Vampire... he just thought she was a consumptive noble child that was orphanned and allowed to run amok!
no subject
She's a Rogue, mostly because I play waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many mages.
Dumb is fine, she's got a lot of that in her party. She's like... a passive voice of reason? The "You're going to fall" and then lets you continue doing the thing till you fall, type, if that makes sense? She hides her Fae-ness most of the time anyway, so it works out with his obliviousness anyway. Even in her campaign which is more than a year on now, everyone thinks she's just a "very promiscuous elf" rather than an actual Fae (they're super rare in our campaign).
I've set this up with some art, but if you prefer LA PBs I don't mind photoshopping a few things to make everything flow better. I just got inspired and figured I'd make a journal! So, hi, it's me still!
But I'd love to hit up some PSLs and Memes (I'm a sucker for Memes, ngl) after some plotting if you like!
no subject
That said, I can fit this dork into a lot of different settings as long as they're at least somewhat industrialized. So, again, no pressure.
I'm not pushy about PBs either. TBH, as much as I like my current one I'm not comfortable with how well known Westworld is (Thanks HBO) and I'm looking to change as soon as I find a good one. Unfortunately, Rodrigo Santoro works so well!
That said, thanks. I'm glad to have inspired you to roll with this, and I've been wanting to find a way to RP and develope this dumb guy anyway. Having something active that I'm doing helps me flesh things out a lot.
no subject
It is popular, but also great. I figure so long as they fit, they fit. I figure it's hard enough to find a great PB in themed settings, never mind a less popular one.
I develop things through RP much better myself, so I understand. Any setting things or ideas you want to discuss? Anywhere you want to start?
no subject
I don't have anything truly hard and fast besides the fact that he's a cowboy that's been given powers he doesn't understand and, for a variety of reasons, is taken from his habitat. It's 1889 in his setting, and he ends up everywhere from across North American and into Europe. His mother is a Greek immigrant who was fleeing the continued chaos of her country gaining independence from the Ottoman Empire and having growing pains, as it were... so hilariously he can speak Greek, not that he reveals this fact often. May or may not eventually have a form of immortality thanks to being an eldritch entity's 'pet'-- or he may currently have it, I'm not sure.
He's not sure.
He has a horse-- a gorgeous Paint he calls Paloma-- and uses his father's Civil War era revolver... but thank's to literally staring at a solar eclipse, his perception is off and he's a terrible shot.
Besides all of that, and that there are multiple other eldritch entities around who are now jealous that one of them has a human pet, we can roll with whatever.
Is there anything in particular you want to work with?
no subject
I think that's at least a good base for things. Though I haven't quite figured out how she got plucked up, but I could imagine Fae magic going wrong or something.
My historical knowledge is light, but I think playing her a little ignorant will let me fill the gaps as it is.
no subject
Also, I don't expect others to follow suit with the history research. I'm not that great at world building for someone essentially working in 'genre fiction', but I am really good at research. It's easier for me to extrapolate when I already have something concrete to work with, and when I had that galaxy brain moment in college of realizing that the Old West, the Victorian Era, and the latter stages of Feudal Japan overlapped, I knew that I had found a goldmine. I incorporated the world travelling aspect because, down the line I hope for an excuse to have involvement of a very traditional Japanese person disgruntled by the Meiji Restoration (which happened right around the Civil War), but that involves more research of data that I do not currently have on hand.
To keep this easy we can stick with North America or the UK. He's London bound anyway, so that makes an excellent excuse for overlap with a Leanan Sidhe.
By the way, I have an open post here, so feel free to drop in any time unless you have a different place you prefer.

inFamous fandom OC!
Miles Greyson Hardy
Not a Bioterrorist.
Miles was born in Philadelphia, PA to Evelyn and Richard Hardy in the year 1994 (well before conduits started making appearances). His mother was a stay at home mom, and his father worked as a doctor at the local childrens hospital. Due to a heart defect, Miles spent a lot of time in and out of the Childrens Hospital until his transplant at age thirteen.
While this helped a lot with some of his health issues, he was still a fairly weak child, but that never once stopped him from taking risks, now that he knew his new heart was far stronger than his old one. And it was one of these risks during a family camping trip on the two year anniversary of the transplant that was responsible for activating his Conduit abilities.
While out walking a trail with his eldest sister, they happened upon a mother bear and her cub. The mother bear immediately went on the defensive and charged the pair and in a panic, Miles tapped into an ability he didn't know he had. While trying to run from the bear (an idiot move, he realized later) Miles tripped and fell down a hill, leaving his sister defenseless.
His panic and fear was so great, as were his anxiety and stress levels at the situation, that his Conduit abilities kicked in. This was painful, a part of his brain going haywire and sending what felt like electricity through him, causing him to shout and lash out with his newfound powers. A deep crack split the ground from where he knelt to right under the bear, the bear falling into the deep crevice in the ground.
This was at a time when Conduits were starting to emerge and gain the wrong kind of interest due to the behaviors of people like Bertrand and The Beast, roughly two months after the detonation of the Ray Sphere. While Miles parents weren't ones to fear Conduits, nor did they believe being a Conduit immediately made them a bad person, they couldn't help worrying this would bring their son trouble or worse. So they did what any semi-sane parent would do and decided to homeschool Miles, trying to work with him in secret with his abilities.
Surprisingly this was effective for a while. They lived on a large piece of land just outside of Philadelphia, so keeping his abilities a secret wasn't too difficult.
Unfortunately, Miles' luck would run out.
After moving to California to live with his eldest sister and attend school, Miles started getting a little reckless and bold with his abilities. He had friends who thought Conduits were cool, so he started feeling a little too comfortable with himself. One night, shortly after his 22nd birthday, Miles was walking to his sisters house from the bus station when he spotted two people trying to break into a car.
Using his abilities to throw an exploding ball of coarse dirt at the would-be-thieves, he managed to subdue and contain them. Unfortunately, someone saw. They got a hold of Brooke Augustine's DUP and within a couple days, Miles was locked away in Curdun Cay station.
The once happy-go-lucky and friendly nursing student was cut off from his family and trapped in a concrete prison he couldn't manipulate because it wasn't his powers that created it. And the woman responsible was cruel. Constantly asking conduits to demonstrate and work on their abilities until they were exhausted, Miles found himself growing more and more upset with the situation and the treatment of the people in Curdun Cay and while he would love to have been the Big Damn Hero in this situation...he was only there for four months. Augustine was defeated by Delsin Rowe, Abigail Walker and Eugene Sims and Miles was reunited with his parents and four sisters the next day.
His specific ability set. It's a link to something relevant to a game he's in, but the abilities still stand.
