And he took her in his arms and kissed her under the sunlit sky
![]() ![]() ![]() Still, what is an adventure without an adventure of the heart? You are not alone, and you'll find that trying times can forge ironclad emotions. Of course, you'll find that the path of love is no easier here than anywhere else, be the person you admire an arranged fiancΓ© you're not too fond of at first, a forbidden object of desire, a traveling companion, an enemy, a lifelong friend, an ally...or another species from you entirely. Yet, in any case, this is no time for romance, is it? Only moments can be stolen, and you must set aside your feelings for the greater good. In this time, in this place, will you get your happy ending, or will this story prove to be a much darker fantasy? ![]()

The moonlight filtered into the empty room casting dark shadows where a lone figure moved stealthily across the empty kitchen floor.
Arrietty Clock stopped every few seconds when a sound reached her ears. The dripping of the water pump into the wooden tub the servants used to wash dishes.
Tiny feet pittered across the stone floor as Arrietty took off again, heading for the food stores, her empty bag flapping against her bag. When She'd learned which sacks held the grain and food, she went to check it out and had to fight off a few rats and other bugs. But in the few weeks since then, she had seen no signs of rodents.
Apparently the humans had noticed, due to the happy lilt in their voices each morning that cane through the gaps in the stone walls. And that had been her introduction to living on her own.
At eighteen, Arrietty had told her parents that she wanted to leave to make a life for herself. Plus she couldn't stand the cold of the north. So She'd packed a bag with some clothes and jumped on a ship heading for warmer climates.
And saw him. The humans on board called him Prince Oberyn. They treated him with the utmost respect, and the man treated his underlings not unkindly.
His aura reeked of power and nobility, the kind of man that drew women to him. And he used that to sate his loins. Which made Arrietty feel jealous of those women. The only thing she could do was stand in the shadows and watch from afar.
Which she did. When they docked, she stole away in the man's luggage and had became a resident in his large home, keeping a watch over him.
A sudden noise made the small woman freeze, her eyes going wide as she felt the floor tremble. Quickly she dashed behind a sack of flour.

He indulged in the company of many lovely women, and men, unaware of the curious pair of eyes watching him. But as he laid naked, embracing whoever had received his passion that night, he did feel like something mysterious was there with him.
The feeling followed him long after he arrived at his home and he decided to take a look around, to make sure no one dangerous had invaded his home.
"Anyone in here?" the prince called out while his dark brown eyes scanned the room.

She could feel The heat rising up to her face are the thought of his handsome face. But, also the cold fingers of fear tugging at her spine.
If he caught her in his home, there would be no telling what he would do. Would he think she was vermin and exterminate her? Or keep her as a pet, kept in a glass jar to be viewed by him and his court as a freak of nature?
She shook at that thought. She was in love with him, but she was more afraid of his size.
She felt him coming closer to where she was hiding. Seeing no other place to hide, she climbed up the side of the sack she hid behind. Suddenly, the cloth gave way and she tumbled with a yelp into the flour, the white powder surrounding her in a cloud, getting caught in her throat and nose.
She tried as much as she could to cover her coughing, but she couldn't stop the soul shattering sneeze that came next, sounding like a bomb in the silence of the room.
"HAA-CHOO!"

"Who are you?" he asked, but it wasn't a hostile tone. Only curious. "Come out, I won't hurt you. I swear on my throne."
He held his hands up slightly, showing his peaceful intentions. What he didn't expect was seeing Arrietty in the bag of flour. Small enough to fit on the palm of his hand.

His face in shadow, adding to the mystery of his aura. She saw his hands and started shaking. Did he mean to capture her? Then he spoke. His low timbre washed over her like a wave of silken steel, making her shiver slightly.
Arietty was finally pulled from her shock as he knelt down and she gasped, causing more flour to go up her nose and start another sneezing attack, this time with coughing attached.
She couldn't get her breath for a few seconds until she wiped the white dust from her face and cleared her nose. She took a few gasps as her body relaxed finally, but she still shook as she stared up at the man she had promised her heart to in secret. "Umm...I...I..."
She couldn't get her words out, but when he moved in closer. "Do...DO you mean it?" She asked lowly, cringing at the sound of her own voice. "You won't hurt me?" She'd heard tales of humans before and they're penchant for violence against her kind. In fact, that's how she had lost one of her uncles....and this man, though he was handsome, still scared her with his sheer strength and power.

He held his hands out for her to jump into, greatly intrigued by this tiny woman. There was something enticing about her and the admiring look she gave him did not go unnoticed.
"You can get cleaned up in that bowl of water."
Oberyn would help her into it, of course. He didn't want her falling into the water.

Her mother's words kept playing in her head. Humans were dangerous, stay away from them. They kill us.
But....Arietty stared up at the man who smiled kindly at her, his hands steady as he offered her a lift out of the white powder, not knowing her feelings were written on her face. Taking a deep breath, she silenced her mother's voice and stood, having to catch her balance before she trudged through the sand-like powder that made her sink to her ankles until she fell and caught herself on Oberyon's fingers. His flesh was warm, almost hot, and felt like a buttery leather against her skin. Callouses littered his hands, giving her the notion he handled swords a great deal.
Finally, she lifted herself up to the man's hand, amazed at how it felt. She could feel every heartbeat, and the muscles twitch as she climbed onto the springy surface. "Thank you," she finally said, her face getting hot.

Oberyn chuckled fondly as he watched her climb onto his hands. It felt a little ticklish as she settled against his calloused skin. He made sure to show her he was harmless, and had no intention of ever hurting her.
"It's my pleasure. How long have you been here, if I may ask?"
He was curious to know more about her and where she came from. He carried her to a small bowl of water and carefully set her down next to it.

The redhead knew she wasn't supposed to be seen by any what her family called 'beans'. They were dangerous even if they didn't mean to be. But, the way he held her like she was a precious jewel changed her mind.
Arrietty hopped off the man's hand and stood on her tiptoes to look into the bowl and saw the clear water reflecting light. "As long as you've been back," she answered. Dipping her hand into the water, she brought it to her mouth, noticing it was dry and slurped the cool, refreshing water and a slight hum of pleasure. It was much better than the stagnant water she had in her little burrow.
With a grunt, she pulled herself onto the lip of the bowl and dipped her hair in, swishing it around trying to get the flour out before it hardened. "Ugh, this is ridiculous," she growled.

And that's when he realized that she might've witnessed his intimate encounters. He hoped he hadn't embarrassed her in any way, or made her feel uncomfortable.
"Here, let me." The prince gently washed Arrietty's hair to help her get the flour out. He made a mental note to protect her from the others in his residence. Not everyone was quite so friendly as Oberyn and he didn't want to place her in any danger. "Would you like something to eat?"

"Umm....yeah...I guess." When her hair was clean of the flour, Arietty rinsed her face and stood from the bowl and squeezed out the excess water from her red locks. "Thank you.." She smiled shyly up at the man, her face going red. She grimaced as her stomach rumbled. "Umm... a little bit." She clasped her hands behind her back.
She had been on a food scavenge before he came into the kitchen and ruined it. She sat and crossed her legs on the stone, shivering a bit at the cool surface. "I left home right before I came on your ship," she started out slowly. "I wanted to get out of the bitter cold. I heard of other places that were warm and that's what I wanted." She smiled. "I wanted to see the sun...feel its warmth on my skin."
And be closer to Oberyn...but she wouldn't tell him that.
