( when kuroo initially approached the idea of getting together for a date, he figured it was going to be something hard-won. not just based on the fact he'd have to contend with tsukishima's shitty attitude about it (because kuroo isn't stupid enough to believe that just because tsukishima admitted to liking him that things would be easy), but also finding the time. between school and volleyball and various other life commitments, it's kind of difficult to pin down a time when they can get together.

and that's speaking nothing of the distance between them. who travels over two hours by train just to go on a first date?

as it turns out: kuroo tetsurou does.

instead of making tsukishima come all the way to tokyo, kuroo decides to go to him. he's being nice here because he thinks things might go better if tsukishima's surrounded by familiar things rather than getting overwhelmed by not only an unfamiliar place but also unfamiliar territory when it comes to this next step in their relationship where they're going from friends (of a sort) to something else.

at any rate, he gets there, dressed casually and heads off to their meeting place a little distance from the train station. he's early on purpose. he doesn't want to admit anything, but he is pretty nervous and he feels really stupid about it, but he is. he's going to pretend like hell that he's not, though. while he waits for tsukishima to get there, he whiles away the time texting bokuto who keeps asking for updates even though literally nothing's happened yet. he does keep an eye out for him though and when he spots him, kuroo lifts his hand and lets his lips curl up in a lopsided but still sharp sort of grin. )
