[ it's not often that watanuki ends up going on errands alone these days, but today is one of those exceptions. he can't honestly decide if it's better or worse, considering the circumstances, or rather, the cited location he's been directed to go to: the girl's bathroom.

"Oh I'm sure no one uses it anymore, it's supposed to be 'haunted'. You most of all know how people feel about that." so yuuko had half drawled half sonorously teased the way she is wont to doing, and as always watanuki felt like the smoke that curled out of her crescent smile was as foretelling as he words, the there-not-there shapes in the distortion like some kind of fever dream.

the first thing he notices is that the bathroom is very very clean, which is highest praise coming from someone who can find dust just about anywhere. it has that new cleanness too, as if someone has just washed it recently, today even, and even though he's already inside, he scuttles towards the window -- where the light comes in very prettily, he didn't fail to notice -- and also the last stall, his head bent low and ears pink. embarrassed? certainly. going to still do his job? yes of course.

he just has to find out what that is. and isn't that always the kicker of these errands, how sometimes he's sent knowing what he needs to do and other times he's sent to do something that leads to another thing, and sometimes like now he has almost no clue whatsoever -- almost, except for this.

three times, he reminds himself, and knocks tentatively: once, twice, and thrice. then he clears his throat self consciously. ]

[ almost, watanuki apologizes for intruding, but he bites his tongue. he'll say he's sorry properly when hanako appears, if she appears. in fact, he'll apologize for even being there because he's got no idea what he's supposed to do; he can't fulfill the rumor after all. he hasn't got a wish that hasn't already been tied up in contract with yuuko. and yet stil he's been sent here. he sighs and waits. ]

Ian's typically an affable guy, he's typically in good spirits and good humor - at least in front of any kind of audience, but something about tonight...
