((OOC: I rolled a 4. So scaredy mechanic with a metal arm trying to hold hands with his gf for the first time? See what hilarity and adorableness ensued?))
[Daria sat down on the bench outside of the convenience store, holding her cold soda in her hand. She didn't know how long she was going to be out tonight, but being away from her family tonight proved to be some kind of therapy. It was always like that when the relatives came over. But at least she had someone to be with. She felt bad, using a date as an excuse to avoid her stress instead of being directly passive aggressive to show her disdain for her family's behavior.
But she didn't have the energy tonight.
And it felt good, aside from her guilt.
Arthur had to be feeling kind of weird, she was sure. Daria was so oddly silent.]
[Arthur sits down on Daria's right. He knows something's up. Daria isn't usually this quiet. Sure, she speaks softly but never just silent. Something's wrong and he isn't sure what to do. Usually it's him whose got a problem. Didn't help he was always so frazzled, having sleeping problems, or is scared of something. Daria is his rock when he needs her.
But how is he supposed to help? He looks down at the bag between them then at Daria's hand. Slowly he reaches out. Just take her hand, stupid. Just gently wrap your fingers around hers. As soon as cold metal touched her fingers, a jolt of static electricity discharged from him to Daria's hand.]
[Daria should've not left in her own world for that moment, because...well, she felt that. She made a jolt of energetic exclamation in her voice and she jumped in her seat.]
Eep-!
[Daria's fingers curled as he reached for them, and there went her soda in her free hand.
[Arthur pulls his hand back and stares in shock. Then down he does to scramble and grab her soda before it completely spilled on the ground. Nope. Too late. It's prett much all gone and the ground is sticky. He looks up at Daria.]
S-Sorry! I didn't mean to- Oh dang. [He hangs his head for a second. He couldn't even hold hands right.]
...I can get you another soda? [He peeks up at her, hoping she isn't too mad.]
[A little got on her jacket but she didn't pay much mind. It was like an alarm clock, in a way.
But it caused him to panic, a lot more than she did, obviously.
Like, did he expect her to be mad about it? It sucked and her mood was already down but this was nothing to blame him for. Daria turned and slightly frowned at Arthur's reaction. It was the kind of frank emotion she gave to those select few when she felt seriously sincere.]
It's fine. It was an accident.
[She placed her empty bottle in the recycling bin.]
[Arthur nods and stands. He rubs his left arm before he sits on her other side. Her voice helps calm him down. Arthur swallows and tries to not say anything more about the soda. Don't push it. She said it was fine so it was fine. He chuckles to himself as a thought crosses his mind.
He can't even hold hands right.
Arthur looks at his right hand. It's still flesh. But the moment was ruined. He leans back and thinks for a moment.]
Wanna...go to a bookstore next? Or the movies? [He could try again there. When the mood was better.]
Um, I don't think I should be out that late tonight.
[In honesty, she should get back home to awkward hell soon. But no, she wasn't upset. She really wasn't. Her eyes darted to him making awkward motions with his metal fingers. They stayed there for a moment before she turned her head completely to look at him.
Daria's monotone was what she was so known for. People don't always easily pick up her inflections of emotion, but it might be easier for people who knew her better. There was a softness in her voice, a sincerity.]
It's nice to stay here for now. You know...less crowds of people. Quiet. Snacks.
[Arthur looks back at Daria. Her voice makes his heart flutter. The sincerity in her voice helps to cull the constant doubts in his mind. He nods and looks around them. It is nice and quiet here. Without anyone around to interrupt their conversation or date. Just them.]
You're right. This is nice. Speaking of snacks...
[The blond reaches into the bag to pull out a package of sour gummy bears. He holds it out to Daria.]
[He was cute. Whatever she felt before was temporarily soothed as she reached in to grab a few of the bears.
Weirdly, remembering what Jane said she liked to do with some bears.
Maybe, then...this could be a good time to feel like herself all over again. A time of healing? What a weird thing to even think of for her. She took one more look at the somewhat nervous, Arthur, and offered the smallest of smiles.]
Ever stick these things in the microwave? You can apparently make mosaic out of them.
[Arthur smiled. Daria was so cool. She just deals with things and never seems to react like he does. She isn't afraid to be herself. He took a few bears himself out of the bag and popped them into his mouth.
He looked down at the bears then at Daria.]
No, I haven't. But we should do that sometime. I think it would be fun.
[His smile grew when she smiled at him. It made his heart flutter. Now. Do it now! Slowly he reached out with his human hand. Arthur's fingers brushed Daria's as he tried to gently take her hand in his.]
[Arthur nods with a smile. Her sass is nice, actually. It's fun and doesn't poke at any of his insecurities. His fingers wrap back around Daria's, lacing them together.]
[There was no need to make fun of anyone for something like that. After all, Daria was about as functional in a different direction as any. It was easier to use words when they came to her in any situation. But in the face of emotional trauma, it was a mixed bag.
Of course, in those moments, it was nice like this.
She looked to her feet before looking at him again.]
I like how we didn't have to say a word to figure out we're both a royal mess.
( Hmm, we can take advantage they are both royalty here. As for ideas, hmm, we can play as we go depending on the prompt we want to go with? I am particularly drawn to 3, 4, 7 ( no shame ), 9, 13 and 14. )
[Sidon offering presents to guests was a formality he had to learn. It meant a lot to try to be kind and diplomatic to other members of royalty. For as much as Sidon put out about how friendly he was, he was still a prince, and he took it seriously.
But because it was Sidon, there was always a twist to that method.
People were important, the people and happiness. Making genuine connections was something Sidon treasured. Now that Sidon was meeting so many people outside of the Domain, he was very careful into playing the role of soon-to-be-king but also a man willing to give all to be a friend. A support beam for all of the world, he could be.
A present, a sincere one from the heart, was a showcase. And the offering of said present was always momentous.
To the meeting spot they had, Sidon arrived in his large but sunny splendor. In his clawed hands was a small pink box with a bow.]
( Getting used to certain royalties customs had been a bit trying for the young queen, she had people that helped her to walk through those fine lines and she still had the deep, deep fear of taking a misstep somehow, it was something else over her shoulders.
The growth and safety of her people depended on her performance and being able to maintain good and amicable bonds with other kingdoms. The Zora Domain was beautiful and a chance from her own, the people were amicable and the Royal family was the same, especially the crown Prince.
Prince Sidon was so bright, it momentarily made her forget the cloud of sadness that had apparently settled over her after the Count died. When she had been asked to meet, Haydee hadn't found anything odd about it or out of protocol, so she had accepted -even though meeting without a chaperone was frowned upon, but it didn't seem to be the case in the domain.
The young woman arrived at their meeting place, standing out with her colorful and fitting dress and oddly colored hair ( it always seemed to draw attention ) and couldn't help the soft smile that appeared on her face when she saw he was already there. )
[Being of royal blood was difficult. In ways maybe many don't understand. Sidon was aware of his privileges, sure, but all of the more reason to work around and allow a moment of escape to maybe someone who needed it.
A new young queen, a prince soon to be king, it was a weight he understood. A weight of responsibility for the people they loved. A pressure to be their best self at all times...
Sidon...really understood that. Maybe he wasn't a genius, but he knew someone working hard to be something they were thrust into doing. Looking at his best friend was an experience in that too. Maybe he was that way himself.
So, let them be less formal, let them be themselves, be calm. Enjoy the moment.
He turned to greet his guest to their location, a small room surrounded by shining waterfalls. A small table with a tea set rested in the center.]
Queen Haydee, hello. Of course not, I had just arrived here.

Feeling better then?
