WHY
1. Consensual. You and your lover think it's time to start a family. 2. Risk. You don't necessarily want to get pregnant, but the risk is hot as hell. 3. Ownership. You want to get somebody pregnant up because you think that will make them yours. Or you're trying to get knocked up to keep them here. 4. Forced Breeding. Like the stables meme, or something involving the government. 5. Continuing the Line. You need an heir. Simple as that. 6. Accidental. It's either the heat of the moment or you're inexperienced, but this isn't planned through. 7. Humiliation.You're impregnating someone to humiliate them. 8. Interspecies. The two of you are making a child born from the union of two different species. 9. Lovesick. This pregnancy is an expression of your love. 10. Expected. Everyone expects you to have a baby, so you decide to do so. 11. As a Favor. Your friend wants a baby, so you'll act as a surrogate 12. Roleplay. You're just using the idea of pregnancy up as an exciting aide. There's no actual risk here, but you have all the trimmings. 13. WILDCARD.

As the Queen, Mary could have ordered Cor to come to her immediately but she wasn't going to act like that. She valued him because he could set his own limits and knew what was truly important. Without those qualities he wouldn't have become the man he was now, and why she had made her extraordinary proposition to him in the first place.
No, she had to wait until he was ready, physically and mentally, even if it tested her patience. And she truly was impatient, and anxious, and a whole array of other emotions. It was not a small matter to try to conceive a baby, an heir to the throne, in this way. She had to make sure all was done in secrecy, so that no harm would come to her, or him. It wasn't easy considering she was hardly ever left alone. There were always maids and guards hovering nearby.
Once she knows he is coming, she arranges her room to look its best: there's a fire going and pillows and furs thrown in front of it. Maybe a man of his status won't care about all of that but Mary does. Her big bed has a lush velvet cover over it.
She bites her thumb. This is the most ridiculous thing she's done so far - and she is guilty of plenty already.

Cor is a man of practical reasoning, and one who is very firm regarding his own limits. And yet, no one could fault him for being exceedingly loyal to those who have earned it. Who else to have earned it but the queen herself, she who he's willing to give life and body to?
Which is why he accepted her proposition in the first place. He is smart, but didn't have the patience for most court politics; hence, his appreciation for her need of secrecy. He just needed to make sure that his duties were finished for the day before slipping over to the royal quarters.
Making sure that no one followed him, he slips inside the room, taking great care to lock the door behind him. "My Queen," he greets her with one of his 'rare outside of private moments' smiles, bowing out of respect and love. And then he approaches her, arms open and ready to wrap around her body at the first given hint.
((ooc: Let's go with present tense, although I'm notorious for accidentally changing it, whatever style I start with.))
He certainly wasn't hired for his excellent smiling skills but on the rare occasions that he does smile (especially if it's because of her) Mary can't help but return the expression. She was worried about how they would greet each other, but when Cor opens his arms, that puts her at ease immediately. Now she trusts that no matter how strange this is, it is also going to be warm and loving.
"Cor..." Her voice is just a whisper as she closes the distance between them. "Thank you." Mary is fairly tall but with a willowy body that is in contrast with his broader frame. She presses her cheek over his chest, hands going around his middle, and just rests there for a moment, feeling safe.
"Would you like a drink?" she finally asks.
