Post with your character with name and canon.
List any preferences(roles, scenarios, time periods, etc.) you have.

ROLES

1) The General/Admiral: You're the head honcho, the guy in charge. You have hundreds, maybe thousands of lives resting on you. What decision will you make?

2) The Officer: Not the leader, but you've got responsibility for your crew. What's your specialty -- independent initiative? Insubordination? Or do you let the noncoms walk all over you?

3) The Soldier: Just an ordinary soldier with your pike, or rifle, or energy gun. Your job is to follow orders. But when it comes down to it, when you look the enemy in the eye -- what will you do?

4) Spy: Dressed in civilian clothes, disguised as an enemy officer. Your job is to get as much information as you can, and then get out. Or are you going to sow a little chaos and destruction along the way?

5) Civilian: This is your land that's being fought over. Do you support a side? Do you hide, or do you hold steady in the face of such violence?

6) Other.

SCENARIOS

1) Battle: In the middle of the fighting.

2) Downtime/R&R: A few peaceful moments, to spend as you will.

3) Sabotage: Something's gone terribly wrong. A factory blown up, a bridge destroyed, an assassination. What do you do about it?

4) Planning: How do you go about storming that beach?

5) Capture/Rescue: The enemy soldiers have you surrounded. Or maybe you're on a daring mission to break your buddies out of jail.

6) Other.

TIME PERIOD

1) Ancient times: Grab that centurion's helmet, form up into a phalanx, and let's go crush those Gauls and/or Persians!

2) Medieval times: Suit up in your armor, grab a lance and make sure to bring along your squire.

3) Revolutionary times: Basic guns and muskets, very little medical care, and very little tactics. Give the other army a few days to dig in, and they'll hold you off forever.

4) World War I/II: Technology is advancing, and warfare is more sophisticated than ever. Remember the trenches, the skirmishes in cities, the spies and the drama.

5) Modern times: Guerilla warfare, modern tactics, modern technology.

6) The future: Ray guns? Space battles? Let your imagination go wild.

7) Other.

[ Temperatures are nearing forty-five degrees and the sand in the air burns at every inhalation but soldiers at Bastion seem quite unperturbed by it, going about their business with the constant humming of moving vehicles and airfield activity in the background. Khan's currently outside the designated command center, hands folded behind his back, stance straight-backed but - by his standards - relatively casual. The meeting took two hours and basically consisted of officers across the board verbalising their own, respective humiliation. Apparently, they hadn't been briefed sufficiently with regards to the nature of Augment involvement on the battle field.

Either that, or they'd simply refused to believe.

Gaze swerving across sand-dusted tents and intermittent road systems, the base a veritable city in and of itself, he waits for news from the US regarding Atlas whose volatile nature got the better of him in the heat of the moment, leaving him partially disemboweled by a bullet - an accident, naturally, with a well-deserved consequence. Next time, he'll simply have to listen better. All the same, it angers him. It's not as if they wanted to be here, any of them. Rather than taking a bullet to the shoulder for some random little human boy who'd lost his senses and placed himself right in the firing range, Khan should have been there for Atlas. Rampant bursts of stupidity or not, the man is still his.

He frowns. And waits. ]

[ No one had informed them and for a system as reliant on intel being passed back and forth correctly as theirs is, you'll have to wonder what the hell that's all about. John's been sitting through the debriefing, nurturing a sneaking suspicion that one end of the room isn't talking about the same issues that the other end is rising, maybe even caught largely unaware of and that's not only disturbing, that's dangerous, because they'll be on the same bloody side, if things start to blow up around them for it. Like it did today, yeah.

He knows what he saw. Captain John Harrison doing a nice overhand throw with whoever got in his way. They're special operation, their commanding officer had dismissed him, when he'd raised the issue at the meeting, just because you couldn't do it, Captain Watson, doesn't mean it can't be done by the right people. Honestly, he'd been a hard look and a head shake on Major Turner's part from attacking that particular explanation head-on, but instead he'd taken his seat and watched Captain Harrison with a frown.

A bit like he's watching him now, exiting the command center and slipping on his beret. Licking his lips once and he needs to stop doing that, Christ, the heat's chapping them horribly, he walks over to Harrison and stops a respectful couple of feet away. ]

Bullet wounds something Spec Ops are uniquely prepared for, too?

[ Marley had been desperate to make John check up on Harrison, insisting that the man had taken a round to the shoulder for him out there, but before John had got the chance to look into it, they'd been called in for evaluations. Captain Harrison looking largely unaffected throughout the entire thing. Doesn't mean it can't be done by the right people, right? Shit. ]

[ The medic - Captain Watson - walks up to him and pauses at a semi-respectful distance. They're ranked the same, officially, so Khan wouldn't expect anything else, perhaps aside from simply being ignored. The man's an interesting embodiment of all human fallacies in the context of war. Human frailty necessitates medical assistance, frequently, you'd expect, from how vulnerable their bodies seem to be. Everything that tells you, logically, that they really have no place whatsoever on any battle field but there you have it. So long as there's someone to patch them up a bit, they get by. Such an ambitious enterprise.

At his question (spoken quite rudely), Khan gives him a blank look, borderline bored. ]

Uniquely prepared? In what way?

[ Watson was in a helicopter during the battle, overseeing the field. Khan had a ready eye on him all throughout and he knows for a fact that the man didn't see him get shot. He did see him throw that soldier, Simmons, out of the way somewhat roughly but that's hardly an impossible feat, albeit slightly unrealistic. Ah well. He's not the one who has to explain these things to the higher-ups, he doesn't actually care. Instead, he looks at John Watson, gaze steady and unwavering, whilst his phone remains stubbornly silent in his pocket. ]
presurgery: (crazy that some people still deny it)

[personal profile] presurgery 2020-06-06 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ The look Harrison gives him is blank, even less interested than what he'd managed to appear during debriefing. John cocks his head, raising one eyebrow. At his sides, his fingers flex a couple of times. Nervous energy. Lot of alpha in the air right about now, isn't there? ]

I don't know what they make you wear, do I? I'm obviously not an expert.

[ His statement results in a range of interesting mental images, the Spec Op guys folding a couple of tanks around themselves for extra armour or, what does John know, they sew magic capes out of rabbit skins. Under any circumstances, something others can't imitate, if you're to believe their commanding officer. John eases into a more formal attention, feet apart and chin raised as he looks the other man up and down. He's in good physical shape, obviously. There's definitely no indication of a damaged shoulder, seeing as the man doesn't show any signs of discomfort or pain, so it appears he hasn't been directly struck.

However, if he can juggle with men his own size, who knows what kind of pain tolerance they teach them. John's eyes narrow slightly. ]

[personal profile] insuperiorstrength 2020-06-06 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
[ Just the slightest, slightest curl of his lips. ]

I'm not at liberty to tell you, Captain.

[ There's really no way for him to explain away a gunshot injury by means of any protection gears the man would know of and trying to do so would only make him more suspicious. He looks the other man over slowly, expression carefully neutral. Watson's shorter than him (which, in a man, isn't actually a regular occurrence) but hard-looking, shoulders broad and his stance emitting strength. Solidity. Khan's seen his fair share of medical people in his life and they don't tend to look like that at all; then again, most of them are, first and foremost, scientists.

Where as this man is clearly a soldier and not just in a purely practical sense. Gaze narrowing a fraction, he looks away, catching sight of a dark mass of antennas lining the horizon near the airfield. Ought to take a closer look at those, later. Or perhaps... ]

Haven't had the grand tour, yet. [ He glances at Watson. ] If you have nothing better to do, you could show me around.
presurgery: (there must be something in the cool-aid)

[personal profile] presurgery 2020-06-06 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Not at liberty to tell you, Harrison answers and John scoffs once, cocking his head to one side slowly. The other captain's taller than him, which isn't in itself much of a feat, come on, but he's not even in the tall end of average height for a man and usually these Spec Op guys are skyscrapers on legs, right, with tree trunks for arms. Harrison is shorter than that, though, leaner as well. If you didn't know what he did for a living, if John hadn't bloody well seen him send that other soldier sailing through the air... Yeah, he wouldn't have picked him for Special Anything, would he?

Except, maybe, especially good-looking. He's got exemplary features, you have to give him that.

Blink, blink.

You could show me around - and although it's presented as a relatively polite proposition, the crackling of energy between them is saying differently. It's an order and John's having none of it, seriously, like he doesn't have anything better to do. He's keeping a whole camp on its feet, no thanks to Harrison's tossing people left and right, yes. His other eyebrow goes up, too before he turns on his heel and heads down the broad road, leading west. Leaving the other man to accept the invitation on these terms or not. ]

If you're expecting me to entertain you, you won't be seeing anything but the hospital, sorry to say.

[personal profile] insuperiorstrength 2020-06-06 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Hm. He watches passively for a moment as John walks off, heading down the road, west-bound. It's actually the opposite of what he was hoping for - he really does want to take a look at the airfield and the radar monitor systems at the base perimeters - but all in good time, supposedly. Feeling out the all-too-silent phone in his pocket, he cocks his head slightly, listening for sounds from inside the command center. In a few minutes at most, they'll join him out here, his travel companions, and they'll have a million boring questions for him that he won't be bothered with until he knows how Atlas is faring.

Thus, a waste of time.

After another split second he follows John down the road, jogging slightly to catch up with him, mostly because dallying about twenty feet behind him would be a pitiful alternative to simply exploring on his own. Falling into step next to him, he glances sideways. The man's profile is quite distinctive, isn't it. He's got a funny nose but it suits the rest of his face, somehow, his eyes sharp and bright. Intelligent. ]

The hospital isn't irrelevant. [ Well, it is to him but that's hardly here nor there. He smiles sharply. ] And we've kept you quite busy, haven't we. My entertainment value seems to be greater than yours.
presurgery: (when i watch the world burn)

[personal profile] presurgery 2020-06-06 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily, my value isn't entertainment - [ It takes only a couple of seconds before the thud of feet moves up the sandy road and joins him at a lazy jog, Harrison falling into step on his right. John glances up at him, meeting the man's eyes briefly while he makes himself funny at the expense of the medical team which is always a bad, bad idea, because you never know when you're going to need their good merits, right? The sharp smile doesn't mess with the rest of Harrison's face, still almost unbelievable in its symmetry, skin clear, all major cross-sections (bridge of nose, eyes, forehead, cheekbones) unspoiled and, well, beautiful. Attractive. You rarely look perfect when returning from battle, except this bloke is looking very fine indeed, five hours and possibly a round to the shoulder later. Another frown, then John finishes his sentence with a hard shrug. ] - my value is saving more people, hopefully, than you guys decide to toss about.

[ They pass by the garages as they continue up the road, the hospital a good five minute march out on the outskirts of the British barracks. Jeeps are milling in and out of the large parking lot, the buzz filling the air like a very insistent tinnitus. This time around, it took John only three days into his stay, before he stopped questioning whether he'd go mad from it. He didn't. He's fine. The times he's been back in London, he might actually have missed it a bit. Even the rush hour traffic can't replicate that noise. ]

Besides, I can fix you up with a twelve feet stack of paperwork, if you need something to occupy you. [ Small smile, just a tug at the corner of his mouth. ] Always in need of a secretary at the West Wing.

[ That's what they call the medical barracks at the camp, due to its position in the compound. John thinks it's fairly stupid, considering the uselessness of American politics in general and the fact that if there's one thing they're not, his colleagues and him, it's useless, but there you have it. People find it easier to remember. ]
insuperiorstrength: (15)

[personal profile] insuperiorstrength 2020-06-06 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He takes note of all tech in their immediate vicinity - jeeps, for the most part, and trucks. It's all fairly standard and expected, concurring nicely with the research they did before coming here. As they walk, he checks the layout of the place against the mental map he's constructed from the plans they were shown on the plane. It's not entirely the same, of course. Making any sort of factually accurate layout of a military base available for perusal wouldn't exactly be clever and people can be, he's found, even if they're rarely clever enough.

Like John Watson, now, trying to be funny. ]

In need of proper secretaries. [ Khan raises an eyebrow at him. ] I don't have the patience. Do you?

[ Certainly, if he has to create plans for his various engineering projects, it's a different story altogether as this work actually holds importance to him. He's fairly certain Watson isn't all too different on that account; he doesn't seem like the type to enjoy meaningless bureaucracy or anything related to it. It's odd, knowing that some people actually take joy in boring, repetitive activities. Even intelligent people. He's got Zaida back home, for instance, who loves filing almost as much as she loves putting her fist through human heads. A personality quirk, no doubt. ]
