[ Yeah, Hades isn't a big fan of Apollo either-- all the more so now when he suspects he must have done something to upset and even scare Persephone. On the plus side, she will never have to worry about running into him anywhere around here. Hades makes it a point to keep him out of his domain. ]

My kitchen is at your disposal, whenever you feel like it. You can come by anytime you want.

( she glances down to her hands, smiling at the thought of being able to feely come here, but she's sure he doesn't mean it like that. )

I'll make sure to call ahead or text next time.

You can, if you want to make sure I'm around.

[ But he liked this so much-- coming home to find her here already, waiting for him. Is it selfish to want that again? All the time? Probably. He doesn't really care enough to stop the next words from coming out. ]

( suddenly there is a lump in her throat and she's having trouble swallowing it down. also, a terrible heat coming from her face and ears as she blushes heavily.

persephone is also thankful she's wearing a sweater since she can feel the itchiness of foliage starting to sprout on her arms.

the idea of being able to let herself in, unannounced, anytime she wants is more than she's allowed herself to think about. that also means he likely won't have any unexpected female visitors she might be interrupting his time with... right? )

S-sure! I'll have to get a cute keyring now... Since I just have the one key to Artemis's place.

[ His eyes go all the way up to the top of her head, eyebrows raising. He's gotten used to her powers often expressing however she might be feeling, but getting a read on them isn't always so easy.

This, however, is pretty self-explanatory. Or, well, he hopes it is. It has to be a good sign, in any case. His lips curl into a slow, wide smile, and he reaches up to rub one of the larger leaves between his fingertips. ]

I could see if I have any, but you probably wouldn't think they're cute or anything.

[ Well, maybe there is one or two with dogs. Because... well, dogs are great. Also he's not a complete idiot, of course he wouldn't tell her to come by unannounced if there was even a slight chance she'd walk in on him with someone else. ]

Anyway, we can look into that later. I'll finish our dinner, for now?

( persephone bites onto her bottom lip as she watches the grin spread across his lips as he reaches out to touch one of the leaves. an embarrassed laugh comes from her as she tries to play it cool.

she is all for dogs and dog-themed things. after all, she did buy that handkerchief with a dog print because it reminded her of him and his dogs.

plus she'll never turn down anything he gives her. )

Yeah ... I umm... I really appreciate all of this. You cooking dinner for me and trusting me enough to come over anytime I want. It means a lot.

[ He almost says it's nothing, but he'd be lying. It is something. And it does mean a lot, more than he cares to put to words right at this moment.

He turns his attention back to the food for now, though, working on the mix of tomato and basil to then mix it in with the pasta once that's cooked through. ]

( she happily watches as he prepares the meal, even stealing a pasta or two when he's not looking. )

[ He cooks the rest of the meal while they sit in a comfortable almost-silence, just exchanging a couple words every so often. Finally their meal is ready and he serves it into two plates, topping it with a bit of cheese and bringing them over to the island counter. ]

Do you want to eat here or move to the living room?

[ He doesn't mind either option, and they both sound equally cozy and intimate. Here they have the chairs, in the living room they have a low coffee table, so they can just sit on the floor. ]

( once he is finished cooking and brings the food to the island, persephone carefully hops off. ensuring she doesn't bump into him or knock the food over. she shoves her bottle of water into the pocket of her sweater.

covering her hands with her sleeves, she picks up the plate closest to her. )

To the living room!

( with that she makes her way there, finding a spot on the floor with her back against the couch as she waits for him. )

I forgot a fork!

[ He did remember to bring the wine for himself, but he also seems to have forgotten the fork. Whoops.

He calls out as she disappears into the kitchen, ] Bring one for me?

[ With that he sets his own plate down next to her, taking up a spot to sit in right next to hers, and pouring himself a glass of wine while he waits for her to come back. ]

( she glances around at the several drawers, a weird embarrassment comes over her and she doesn't ask what one they are in. instead, she opens several of them until she finds the forks.

holding them in triumph she returns to sit next to him, holding out his fork once she's settled. )

Do you really need that many junk drawers?

((ooc: also I'm sorry, somehow I misread your previous tag... could've sworn there was a bit about her heading back to the kitchen. wtf brain? thanks for rolling with it!))

[ He accepts the fork, tilting his head a bit at her comment. ]

Junk drawers? They're just drawers. What did you find in them?

[ Oh boy. He sure is going through a rushed list in his head right now, trying to remember if there was anything particularly embarrassing that she may have found in his kitchen. ]

[ hehe, no problemo. we gotta work together to make this work! 💖 ]

Nothing too embarrassing.

( at this point she's just giving him a hard time before digging into the food. she practically melts when the first taste hits her mouth. )

Mmm, so good!

( he's like perfect husband material and somehow an eternal bachelor. )

[ He sighs in relief at first, but then his eyebrow twitches. Nothing too embarrassing? So maybe something a little embarrassing? What did she find in there?!

Luckily she's trying the food before he gets too deep in his own thoughts, and he's soothed by the joy that he feels that she seems to enjoy the meal so much. ]

There was a little left over, if you want seconds when you finish.

[ He digs into his own plate for now, enjoying the meal but especially enjoying the way they get to sit so close together like this. It's not really a date, he knows, but no one can come after him for indulging in that selfish little thought for just a few minutes. ]

Do you know how to cook?

I couldn't possibly eat any more!

( she says as she rubs her stomach, clearly she enjoyed all of the food since her plate is clean.

without putting much thought behind it, she leans against his side. her head propped against his shoulder slightly. )

Does baking count as cooking?

Well... it does, but I know you can bake. [ All those sweets, mmm. He doesn't get too lost in that thought much when she leans against him, but he's more than happy to accommodate her against his side, moving his arm to wrap around her, ignoring the mild pain to his side. ]

I meant other things. Meals like this one.

( happily she snuggles again him, blissfully unaware of his sore side. a content sigh comes from her as she closes her eyes, enjoying how she seemingly fits perfectly against his side. )

I can make the basics, but I lack the imagination to how stuff together as you did. I'll just stare at the pantry for an hour before deciding on a sandwich. Mostly just follow recipes or things I've seen other people make.

But, I mostly make simple things since I'm on the go a lot with school and work.

[ So far as Hades is concerned? She fits just perfectly against his side, pain or not. He can certainly withstand that, if it means he gets to have her right here, huddled up close to him.

He does shift slightly, trying to ease some of that discomfort, having her weight settle more against his shoulder or his front than his side. ]

You should try looking for recipes, those will help you get more ideas. Most of what I do are recipes I've found somewhere at some point or another. Ah... I have a few recipe books, if you want to take them with you? A few of them have easier, quicker recipes too.

( she notices him shift her weight and begins feeling a little selfconscious. )

Is this uncomfortable?

( there are those stupid boundaries she put up, but she doesn't want to think about them right now. she wants to enjoy this moment and closeness to him as long as she can. yet, she moves away slightly, not wanting to crowd him if her closeness is making him uncomfortable. )

I would love to try them out if you don't mind me borrowing them.

Oh. No, no, it's just... my side is a little sore. It's nothing serious, please-- don't move away.

[ It comes out a little selfish to him, and he smiles sheepishly, but he doesn't want her to move away now. He's handled worse pain than this (much worse, in fact), it's not a little bruising that's going to get to him now. ]

Not at all. You can keep them. As long as you want, I mean. [ Or forever, he's not particularly attached and she always makes him want to give her a lot of gifts all the time. ]

( his words cause her heart to flutter slightly as she leans back against him, careful to keep her weight away from his side this time. )

Thanks, ( her voice soft as she rests a hand gently on his chest, her fingers gripping the fabric of his sweatshirt slightly. )

So much for boundaries, huh?

( with how close they are to one another, she's feeling a bit foolish about putting them in place. )

[ He feels a tightness in his chest when she speaks. His lips curl downwards, but he schools his expression. Or he tries, anyway. He's never been very good at keeping his strongest emotions from showing on his face. And the more he cares for someone, the more difficult it seems to be.

It's never as difficult with anyone else as it is with Persephone. ]

I'm sorry.

[ He still holds her a little tighter, hand squeezing just once before easing his hold again. ]

You can... go, if you want. I know I'm not helping, I said I'd respect those boundaries but I'm not.

I'm also not respecting them because leaving is the last thing I want to do.

Rather hypocritical of me since I'm the one that put them in place.

( her fingers tighten their grip on his sweatshirt, but once she realizes she's holding onto him tightly she loosens up her grip. )

I guess what I'm trying to get at is ... what should we do? What do you want to do?

[ He wouldn't have ever thought of that word for her, no. Maybe she's just having as difficult a time respecting her own boundaries as he is. It's a nice thought to have, for a moment. To think that she wants to be near him so much that she doesn't even care about the reasonable boundaries she tried to establish herself. ]

I want you to stay. [ Forever? Forever sounds good. It sounds amazing. He feels horribly selfish the moment he says it, but his fingers still curl firmly over her arm, his head turning so he can nuzzle into her hair. ]

If you want to go... that's fine. I just want you to do whatever you want, Persephone. But know that I'll never want you to leave, and I'll never want to send you away. No matter what.
