Billy had been working with Marcus for a good few months now and it had taken him this long to talk the guy into catching up for a drink after work. He’d sounded grumpy and reluctant but Billy has come to learn that that was just how he was. At least the man smiled now.

And it’s not a date, not really. Just two guys getting a drink after a week of work, but that doesn’t stop Billy from putting an effort in. His injuries are long since healed but his tanned skin is marred by horrific, shiny white scars that he doesn’t try to hide with the way his shirt is open all the way to just above his navel. He’d survived a monster, he wasn’t about to hide the reminders. He’d earned them.

He’s sat in a booth in the corner, back to the wall and waiting, two beers already on the table in front of him when Marcus walks in and Billy waves him over.
