(I can't be the only one who kind of wants one of those, right?)

You died. It was probably pretty tragic and somewhat epic. But you got better. You're back! You're alive! This is pretty awesome! Or is it?

• Post with your character.


• Tag other people.


• Come back to life. But that's vague, and so if you're stumped and just need a little bit of inspiration on how to get things moving, hit up the RNG and roll some numbers or just pick from one of the following:
  
  1) If you died you died but briefly and bringing you back was no problem at all. Maybe somebody just used a phoenix down because it wasn't a cutscene death? Alternatively speaking, it was a mistake: you ingested a potion which put you in a death-like sleep for a time or something along those lines. Either way, rumors of your death were greatly exaggerated and it really was no big if it did happen, which allows you to move onto better and more important questions like what happened to your stuff, what happened to your friends, and hopefully no one did anything incredibly stupid like charge the big bad in your name and get killed for their trouble.
  
  2) You died. Bringing you back was the end of a long quest which may or may not have used the powers of good. (Hopefully no one did anything too drastic like fall to the Dark Side or closest equivalent thereof in the process.) No matter what, though, it's the end of a long and dramatic journey for someone.
  
  3) You were brought back, but as some shambling hideous abomination and...wow. This is going to be awkward.
  
  4) You died. And you're not exactly back...see, you know those spirit guides or voices from beyond which guide some lucky person on their own quest of salvation and hope? You got a job doing that.
  
  5) You died. But now you're back, complete with a heroic resurrection in the nick of time with dramatic music and an accompanying power up. The downside is that these heroic resurrections tend to come with missions, quests, and flying off to battle the ultimate foe. Hope you weren't planning on kicking back and relaxing for a bit, there's stuff that needs doing.
  
  6) ...okay, so maybe your death was a little bit faked...Brazil was nice this time of year and uh, now you have to silence some people who may have spotted you.

[ It's weird, but Alex never expects anyone to die. Even though he probably should, after Darwin, but he just shoves that to the back of his mind and tries to act like it either a) never happened or b) was a one-time thing. He can't endanger anybody else's life anymore, he played that card. ]

[ So when Hank hits the dirt, it takes a couple of seconds for Alex to believe it. In fact, he doesn't believe it even when Hank is taken, pale and bloodless, to the lab and laid out on the table like some kind of experiment. ]

[ He does believe it at dinner, though, because there's an empty space at the table, so despite protests he gets up and leaves, heading to the lab again. Just to check. He has to prove to himself that somebody else is dead. ]

[Generally speaking, Death didn't much care to stand on ceremony. Certainly, the occasional king or far-traveled warrior would expect a bit of a show but, by in large, Death preferred not to be seen going about his work. Death, after all, was at its best when it was a permanent, unseen presence in the world.

It was fortunate, then, that Elves, while terribly skilled in the perception of magical things, were utterly unaware of him at all times. (Unless, of course, they were very recently stabbed through the chest or set aflame.) As this company had just parted ways with the small fellow who carried a rather ominous and tasteless bit of magical jewelry, the likes of which would have made him quite plainly visible, had recently lost their Wizard, albeit temporarily, and had left the realm of the forest witch, Death had no problem doing his job in relative peace.

Well, no problem aside from the fact that this stubborn person absolutely refused to die.

His chest had been introduced to a few arrows the general thickness of human femurs, he'd killed a passel of orcs (all of which had been set on their way, grumbling darkly, while he waited for this fellow to bleed out), and was currently giving a rather moving speech to a grubby-looking-kingly chap who'd arrived just after the nick of time.

If Death had ever needed a watch or felt the need to accessorize, he'd be staring at the time-piece in exasperation. As neither of these things had ever happened, he just stood alongside the little funerary gathering of quick-witted but slow-footed warriors and waited. Finally, just as they were scrambling about to prepare and load him in a boat so they could be on their way, Death was able to swing his scythe clean through the man's neck. Oddly enough, it didn't seem to disturb the corpse very much at all.]

[...and that was...something. Jack looked at his hands, turning them over; he was half-expecting some sort of revelation, a thought like, "I can't believe I'm alive," or "My body feels...different, strange, new." Instead, it just felt like the usual. He glanced over at Conner who was doing whatever it was he was doing.

To think that he had/Connor had/both of them had died (or "died") and then came back to life and all of this took a half hour tops to resolve.

It felt like it was supposed to be more significant. More of a thing. But...no, not really.]

I don't know about you, but I was expecting something...bigger. [Overall, it had about as much ceremony as ordering burgers, which wasn't something Jack had personally experienced but he had seen happen in his meandering lifetime and knew wasn't that dramatic.]

[Sherry didn't know Piers. At least, not that well. They'd met a few times, most of them hostile, most of them in the heat of something much bigger than any of them. It didn't stop her from volunteering to oversee his examination--she knew he'd ultimately end up like her in some ways. Being prodded at, being made to sound like a science project (which they are, she knows not to sugarcoat it in her head, certainly), and then... wondering why you are who you are, and how it all came to this.

So. She's here.

She's not sure what to say about the arm when he comes to eventually. It's wrapped enough to hide, but she knows he'll feel it the moment he opens his eyes and remembers. Or more like... eye. One side of his face is considerably scarred from his body attempting to reject the virus.

She realizes there was one small comfort, for her. That the G virus never morphed her body, that they'd gotten a vaccine before that. All they could do for Piers was sloppily cook one up after the fact.

It never goes away, though... just adapts. Adjusts.

She sits in her chair with a book, because she's been doing this for a few weeks now: just walking in after a mission or odd-job, sitting down, waiting until there's a possible sign of waking. She mostly goes home once it gets dark, but until then she thinks about a lot of things. Like... if they should tell Chris. It's against regulations. The rules. They couldn't tell his family, either--not with his appearance right now...

... It's strange, getting to know someone, even though they're far away sleeping. She feels like she knows a little too much; that it's an invasion of his privacy. Something she knows the feeling of all too well.

She sighs, looks over and notices his sheets are just slightly askew, so she leans in and pulls them up a little.

Case in point: Tim somehow managed the impossible feat of coming back alive... as Dick's new NPC spirit guide, complete with hideous glow-in-the-dark powers, the ability to walk through walls, and the stupidest urge to just yell at Dick to STOP AND LISTEN ALREADY, dangit!]

[It hurt, being shot. Grantaire thought, staring down armed soldiers with Enjolras at his side, that death was imminent. He could have gotten away with his life, but what did his life matter if Enjolras died? It would haunt him for the rest of his own, and he would have drank himself into his deathbed. He hadn't expected how much dying hurt though, in the valor and the glory. It exploded and fractured in his chest, sent him crashing to the ground. He couldn't breathe, and the world faded out through the warmth in his chest.

He hadn't expected to wake up. There's no breath in his lungs, only the heavy echo of blood as he coughs. He heaved, desperate for air as he sat up, his hands shooting to his chest. There's so much blood, through his vest and shirt, pooled around him and cooling against the wooden floor. It had him in a panic, that the pain was all but gone but the blood was all too real, and he tore open his vest to reach into his shirt and feel. His chest was sticky with blood, but no holes punctures his skin.

It was impossible, a miracle.

Enjolras.

If he's alive, then maybe he's not alone, maybe it wasn't all for nothing. He looked around frantically, darting to the window and grabbing at Enjolras' leg. He had to pull him up, had to get him out from there and into the room with him. It was a surge of desperate energy, stress welling up behind his eyes at the hope and possibility that Enjolras could be alive. It took every ounce of energy in him to get the other boy's body back into the room, and in that instant he dropped down to cradle his head.]

Enjolras...be alive, please, wake up.

That life had been spent at the beck and call of the Triad. When she was too old to smuggle drugs in her backpack with an innocent smile, she became an accomplice to trafficking people. Unable to continue, she ran and began a new life, one with meaning.

But there was no meaning except waste written on the thirsty pieces that soaked in her blood. Liang left her there, to study her lives, to give her time to know that the struggle was useless, fruitless, meaningless. She should have spoken to the detective, but she had not trusted that he meant no harm.

Either the goddess of the moon was hiding her face, or this was at its end.

With the problems he's having at home, the very last thing he should be doing is perusing the database for potentials. He suspects Harry would tell him as much, but his father's voice has been strangely absent this time around. And when the hair on the back of his neck prickles, when he turns his head just so in dim the solitude of his office, the figure he 'sees' there doesn't necessarily surprise him so much as set him on edge.
