Grooming is an important part of many species' rituals. It keeps them clean, healthy, and content. And a good bath? It can change the whole tone of a day from terrible to relaxed and blissful. But nudity is sometimes viewed as a weakness - and it is almost always sexualized - so bathing is often kept a private matter. If you do share these moments with someone, they're almost always a significant other or a sexual partner. Like you're doing now. Whether it be after a battle or after sex (or before sex, even), the two of you are going to get clean. Be sure to help each other out with that, won't you? After all, there are places on the back that just can't be reached... HOW TO PLAY: Comment with your character, your prefs, etc. If there are other grooming-related practices or kinks you'd like to include, like shaving, hair washing, mention them! Reply to others!

( Though the Shinkai family was not the behemoth it once was, it was still one of the few land-dwelling families with such deep ties to the sea. He hoped to use this professional relationship as his much-needed bridge from sea to land, so he could expand his business ventures further. After several months of negotiating with the Shinkais, he was able to move their dealings into the final stages. They would offer him influence and their connections on land, and he would offer them economic staying power and support from the sea. Now, all he needed was the approval of their "God." If he liked Azul, then the venture could go forward; if he didn't, then that was it. A bit (a lot) of pressure, but nothing he wasn't used to.

What he didn't like was that the Shinkais would like this meeting to be an underwater communion of sorts, between their sea god (Kanata, Azul learnt through research later) and Azul, child of the sea, which they indicated, in no uncertain terms, should involve Azul introducing himself in his mer-octopus form. Disgusting. But when would he have an opportunity like this again? Swallowing his distaste for his octopus form and for being so at a disadvantage as a sea creature on land, he waited until the door behind him slid shut to let his two legs unfurl into eight, and slide into the shallow pool housed in this chamber of the Shinkai compound, the room's interior dressed to look like something holy.

The water is just deep enough for him to sink down in until only his eyes peek up over the surface, and though the room is low-lit by candlelight, the shape of his eight, black legs spread wide along the floor of the pool. The stagnant water eases through his gills in an easy rhythm; an attempt to remind himself to be pleasant, agreeable! He needed this Kanata to like him and to agree to tell his family to just listen to whatever Azul says. Research tells him this guy is simple, and shouldn't be hard to convince— but he wouldn't let his guard down yet.

When he hears the sound of the door rattling, he rises from the pool, the slick black and greys of his skin reflecting dimly in the light. He does recognize this face, again, from his research; Shinkai's wish-granting god, Kanata. A deep inhale—from the gills, beneath the water—and he works up a smile. Whether or not Azul believed in this god deal, he had to act as if this kid really were one, lest he be offended or something, right? )

... Good evening. It's of the very highest honor to have audience with you. ( he places an emphatic, webbed hand on his chest. ) If I may be permitted to introduce myself, I'm known as Azul— Azul Ashengrotto. I believe I was given privilege to discuss some matter of import with you?
