Coffeeshop? Go for it. College, soulmate, slice of life, sports anime? Go for it. Hell, get abducted by hot aliens and go to town. We hear serial killer aus are hot right now too. The point is, the only thing limiting you here is your own imagination. Gen, romantic, or smutty, we're here to party.

what they neglect to mention is this: it was the work of an assassin.

every report that comes in from raphael's information network speaks of the same crisis unfurling in the northern city of ishgard: prominent figures in the ruling clans found dead one way or another. first the patriarch of clan durendaire and his sons, sparking an internal dispute over the succession. then another death in clan fortemps, with lord haurchefant lost in what must have been a struggle in all but name, the evidence carefully erased. the tensions are mounting, various clans pointing fingers at each other. allies turning into foes, with the sheer level of mistrust that has spread throughout the city, seeping into every clan that has called it home for centuries.

clan canaan had been careful to monitor the situation for any further upsets, everyone on standby, waiting for the other shoe to drop. and then—and then—another assassin had come for lucifer's life.

there had been no question of how to react. he was only thankful he was there to tear the assailant apart before she'd even had a chance to touch lucifer.

sandalphon, lucifer had said, solemn and resplendent even in the aftermath, wiping the blood from sandalphon's mouth. please know this is not a request i make lightly. i would like you to go to ishgard to look into the recent incidents. clan haillenarte has recently petitioned for our assistance—an alliance, if you will. we must find the root of this before more lives are claimed.

it had taken days before he finally agreed to leave lucifer's side; michael would guard him in sandalphon's place while uriel investigated the southern clans, and gabriel, the western ones, as raphael continued keeping a pulse on the reports from his information network. sandalphon was not known the way the others were and the only one who would be able to keep a low profile among the other clans. it had been a simple choice.

which is why he finds himself in ishgard now, riding up to the the haillenarte manor, cutting a dark figure in his cloak. the streets of the city are quiet at this time of night; even the mortals who share this city with their otherworldly counterparts have gone to rest. but sandalphon sees through the cover of darkness as clearly as if it's still daytime, his eyes crimson under the fabric of his hood. in his traveling pack, hidden amidst his other belongings, there sits a small box smothered in containment seals, carrying inside it the broken tip of a peculiar spear: evidence, for the haillenartes' inspection, so they might pool their knowledge in discovering what secrets it hides. a piece of the weapon that had nearly claimed lucifer's life. the magics overlaid on it bespeak a level of craftsmanship no ordinary individual could dare to attempt.

it all paints the same picture: this is a weapon designed to hunt vampires. someone had knowingly forged this.

when sandalphon arrives at the gates, a manservant comes forward to greet him; after a careful examination of the missive he carries, emblazoned with an authentic haillenarte crest, the servant escorts him inside. they head up the stairs, crossing the quiet lengths of various hallways until they reach a study.

"lord francel," the man says. "a contact from clan canaan has arrived."]
