Well, that's a start This is a meme based on the Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, a tale from Greek mythology about a musician who lost his wife. All he had to do to bring her back from the after life was lead her out with out turning back to look at her. Unfortunately her silence unnerved him. Right as they were at freedom, he looked back and saw her as she faded back to nothing. There's the basic prompt, feel free to play from there. There comes a certain point where you think it might be time to lay down arms.

From everything he's been taught, he thinks death is supposed to be... peaceful? Your fight is over; you let go of all the striving and anger and conflict and let yourself dissolve into the Force, become one with all living things, perhaps see your family again (all of them, all of them there waiting for you, mother and father and uncle and grandfather and grandmother and even Bail and Breha, because grandfather and grandmother they are, too, and—)

Except.

That doesn't happen.

There's no falling into the embrace of the Force, no peaceful moving-on. Instead, it's like there's an anchor tied tight around his ankle, slamming him into a brick wall. A sudden break and a hard stop. There's a chain leading back, back to the world, a red thread knotted hard around a certain girl's heart, a bond that can't be sundered even by death, and so it stops him: one foot in this world, another in the next, and with the man himself trapped between, in the world between worlds.

There are blank empty stars stretching out all around, blinking in the darkness, and a road unfurling beneath one's feet. Windows and windows, glimpses into places he's never been or seen. Doors, shut and locked. Emptiness. When he cranes his head and looks up, it seems like the void could go on forever.

The path looks like stardust. In another light, it looks like a lonely railroad track going on and on. Or a barren desert burnt in the sun, or a rocky outcrop on an ocean planet. Or maybe just a long hallway that could be the familiar twists-and-turns of the Falcon; or the featureless expanse of First Order corridors. It's somehow all of them at once, whatever it is.

Wherever he is, Ben walks, and he waits, and he isn't even certain what for.

[ It's not a simple thing, slipping into the land of the dead. It's not something even a known sorceress would offer as a service because there are so many complications and dangers that could befall anyone that tries it. But it is something that can be attempted if the reasoning is solid enough, hard enough.

It's also not the same as what happens when the so called Lord of Light resurrects people. Honestly, Lillian hasn't quite figured that out in regards to their magic, because she isn't a follower and doesn't believe. Her own powers rival those of his followers but she follows a different path that's all her own, or well, her House's. Not that most know she practices, running a small tavern in a small town away from her family and their more lord-like influences.

She'd made friends when she'd first bought the tavern with a local girl, Lysandra. And Lysandra had been staffed at the tavern for as long as Lillian had been running the place, but all that came to an end when some warlords came through town. Lillian was picking up supplies and Lysandra had been left in charge. When she'd gotten back all she'd found was her friend's body and so much blood. But she'd refused to lose her friend in that way. Which is how she came to be carefully navigating the land of the dead.

There's the softest ball of pale blue light in her hand that occasionally pulses and occasionally she speaks to it as though it's talking to her. Arguing with it on occasion. Her guide, of sorts. But it's not Lysandra that it guides her to, instead finding a tall man with dark hair and an aura of pain. There's the slightest bit of fire that whispers around him too, at least for her, and she can tell that someone had tried to bring him back, to pull him to the land of the living, but hadn't quite succeeded. Some kind of inner turmoil she suspects, or giving in to his fate. She'd have to actually talk to him to be sure. There's also something a little feral about his energy, claws and teeth but of what animal she can't quite tell.

Her guide chitters that she has to bring him back instead. He's needed. That her friend isn't anywhere to be found, she must have fully passed on and won't be reached. And there's a huff from her a that information, but her eyes flicker to him again before she reaches her hand out to catch his shoulder and make sure that he's seen her. ] Hey. [ It's one word, but it's offered softly, delicately and like she doesn't want to spook or startle him. ]
