The Dating Meme

Dating is, when you think about, really weird. It's a totally different thing for different people. Some are friends for years before they date; others start dating on the same day they met. Sometimes, there's a lot mushy stuff involved; other times, the couple acts just like friends. None of this is necessarily right or wrong.

Whatever it is, your character and the character you reply to are now dating. How? That's up to you. Whether it be awkward or not, the relationship will be uniquely theirs.

1. Best Friends to More: Oh, wow, you've been this person's friend forever! But then you realize you have feelings for them, and they for you. Will things change when you change your status?

2. The Sudden Decision: Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here I am, date me maybe?

3. Confession: You've had feelings for this person for, like, ages, and you want to ask them to date you. Or maybe the confession just slips out...
4. Hate Date: You really don't like this person; actually, you hate them. But you don't want them to be with anyone else!

[hawaii is actually hell on earth.

akira thought their class trip would allow them to relax a little. unwind. not focus on phantom thief stuff for a short bit and just chill. it's a shame futaba and morgana can't join them on the trip but at least everyone would be taking it easy, and akira looked forward to it. hawaii has a reputation of being a paradise and even seeing it from the plane had given him some excitement that he'd get to experience such a strange place.

of course he got roomed with mishima, who didn't talk about anything but the phansite. akira's used to it being the topic du jour with mishima though so it wasn't a surprise when he decided to chat his ear off about the latest polls and requests. it wasn't great to hear more about phantom thieves shit when they're on vacation but fine, whatever, it's something he could tolerate. at least he'd be spending time with his friends and taking in the local sights with them. having a roommate insist on bringing up the normal stuff from back home wasn't a deal breaker.

what was a deal breaker though was ryuji's attitude. his best friend was annoyed with the lack of 'foreign-ness' in their activities, their food, everything. he complained loudly about it all even when they were on the beach and akira was attempting to enjoy his fruity beverage, ann trying to salvage the situation to no avail. listening to ryuji's complaints wasn't all that terrible either, honestly, but today the world decided to kick akira while he was down and really give him a migraine.

the night before they'd all huddled together and talked about their types and he got to lie there and listen to ryuji gush about girls again and akira nearly pulled his hair out. the blonde talking about girls isn't news, certainly, but akira would have appreciated going a few days without having to be reminded of how obnoxiously straight he was. his own vague non-answers had been all he could muster up, trying to avoid saying anything that sounded like 'dumb, blond, incredibly loyal, brave.'

even that could have been ignored, even if it didn't exactly make akira feel good. he's gotten incredibly used to his feelings for his best friend, and even more used to pushing them aside in favor of maintaining their friendship. so hearing that he didn't meet any of ryuji's desired qualities, while it stung, wasn't really news. he likes to think he's made peace with the fact ryuji isn't ever going to see him as something other than a friend-- and that's ok, isn't it? ryuji's his first real friend, the first person he's gotten so close with, and while he wants more he also doesn't want to lose this.

the fact that it's all fresh in his mind when ryuji drags him and mishima up and down the beaches of waikiki looking for girls to hit on, though, that's what finally does him in. akira assumes mishima would be into looking for girls on the beach but even he seems uninterested at this point, and akira couldn't feign interest even if he wanted to. the girls are all pretty, certainly, and he's sure there's nothing wrong with any of them-- he just isn't interested. the person he is interested in is getting increasingly desperate as the rejections pile up, and akira is going to lose his mind if ryuji asks for his opinion on another curvy woman.

the sun is starting to go low on the horizon, akira is pretty sure his shoulders are burnt, and he's so tired of this. when ryuji insists they should keep at it, that night time beach-goers are also prime for picking up, he decides he's had it.]

Hey, Mishima, go back to the room. I need to talk to Ryuji.

[once mishima leaves them alone, akira lets out a long, tired sigh. he flicks his gaze over ryuji carefully, trying to gauge where he's at right now, but honestly, akira's a bit too annoyed with all of this to actually do much about it. running a hand through his hair he shakes his head, crossing his arms and giving ryuji an exasperated look.]

You've been dragging us all over the beach all day. I get that you want a girl, but these women don't even understand you. Can we just call it and go grab some dinner?

[ It's business as usual for the Phantom Thieves... get a request on the forum, then do some investigating. Their target is a con artist who hangs around the Kichijoji area... which means everyone has to split up and occupy a popular hangout spot in hopes of hearing the target's name. Some of their teammates are at the Penguin Bar, while others at the fried food shop. As for Futaba and Yusuke, they were designated to sit at the jazz club and keep an ear out.

This kind of feels like a romantic date...... if not for the fact that she brought her laptop to the club and is entirely absorbed in it. It's kind of a nice buffer, otherwise she'd be too preoccupied thinking about how this is definitely kind of a first date of sorts. ]
