As I found mine in a place I never wanted to be.

Perhaps that is true. And ultimately all we can do is walk the paths we are on.

You saw many things of me, but I doubt I successfully navigated either route.

Walked it, never the less, and survived.

The cost was steep for us all. Yet, I still wonder why I wish sometimes those better than me took my place. I may not know, either, which side that wish comes from.. the human or the beast.

I wish for better things for them, yes. Living in this world, rebuilding it, picking up the pieces.. I don't know if that would be better for them.

Nor withstanding the many years to come of those who would take the mantle of steward of the world.

If Gaia tells me to intervene, to help or stop.. Mostly, I will be here to record the progress, to be a steward in my own right, of the stories that have come and gone.
