The HOLY GRAIL WAR Meme

Seven Masters, magi of the present day. Seven Servants, heroes of days past.One Holy Grail, granting whomever claims it a wish. Only one team of Master and Servant may claim it.
Who will it be?
For those unfamiliar with Fate/Stay Night or Fate/Zero, you can find a better explanation of the Holy Grail War here.

Instructions
1. Comment with your character. In the subject line, put that character's name, canon, and which role (Master, Servant, or either) you would like them to fulfill. Add other preferences if you would like. (NOTE: If your character can fill the role of Servant, I suggest you state which class(es) -- Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, or Berserker -- they fall into.)
2. Reply to others' comments. Pick your character's role (and the other character's if they list "Either" as their preference), then use the RNG to pick a scenario that fits the two characters' roles.
3. Enjoy! Though there might be triggers, depending on how the prompts are interpreted.


TWO MASTERS

1. Battle. Who says that Servants get to have all the fun? After all, most Masters try to kill each other, too. Whatever the circumstances, the two of you are locked in a fight. Neither of you are willing to use your Command Spells just yet, so no Servants here. Just two magi duking it out.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action aginst it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. Protection. Uh-oh! One of you has lost your Servant! Unfortunately, there's no way you'd get to the church safely on your own, so the other one will help you get there! Or maybe you don't trust the priest presiding over the Holy Grail War and are giving shelter to them yourself? Given their track record, no one would blame you.

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. You, Too? Surprise! You may have been friends before, but you've just discovered that you're both Masters! How will you handle this revelation?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!


MASTER AND SERVANT

1. Are You My Master? The summoning is complete. Whether intentional or not, catalyst or not, a magus has summoned a Servant. What kind of meeting was it? Was everything totally under control, or did a hitch occur? Or maybe it happened in the middle of a life-or-death situation!

2. Identity. Either the Servant has flat out told the Master their identity, or they unleashed their Noble Phantasm. Either way, the cat is out of the bag. How will the Master react, now that they know their Servant's name and legend? Will anything change between the two?

3. Battle Aftermath. A battle has just ended. Who participated? Are either of you hurt? Did the Master have to use a Command Spell? Any number of things could have happened here.

4. Discord. Uh-oh. It looks like the Master and the Servant don't get along. Here come the arguments! Don't do something stupid, like waste a Command Spell over a triviality...

5. Love. And then, there's the opposite. Sometimes Masters and Servants fall in love with each other. How will this affect things?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!


TWO SERVANTS

1. Battle. This is what usually happens when two Servants meet -- they duke it out. This probably says enough as it is.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action aginst it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. The Grail Dialogues. Maybe you're not interested in fighting just yet. Maybe you just want to sit down and talk with the other Servant. Find out what they want, what makes them tick. Get some wine while you're at it -- nothing like good wine to go with good talk!

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying...again. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in this War in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. Identity. Congratulations, you've just learned each other's identities! Will this change the situation, or will you press onward?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!

[As a Master: Etna is the last remaining member of a talented magus family adopted by another magus family incapable of producing an heir. Participating in the HGW to prove she deserves to be considered the legitimate heir. Because of her whimsical and capricious nature, she can have a broad range of behaviors toward her Servant that will definitely vary depending on who they are.

As a Servant: Lancer-class. A mishmash of her canon background and the mythology revolving around the 'real' Etna/Aetna (both the mythological nymph and the myths of the volcano named after her). There's a surprising amount of stuff, but she and her volcano are involved in Greek, Roman, and, surprisingly, Arthurian mythology. No matter what, she will be something of a lazy, high-maintenance big sister figure to her Master.

Can be either a classic HGW, an Apocrypha scenario, a F/GO singularity, or something set in Chaldea for shenanigans. Servant/Servant and Servant/Master shipping is A+. Good with pairing her with someone in their teens or anyone over 18.]

[This magus family at least had the sense that if they were trying to summon a Foreigner, something eldritch and unknown to this world, they shouldn't link a human up to it. Ten homunculi crumpled under the stress of the magic circuits needed. Maimakterion was the 11th. The intent of the family was to use him to summon something so overwhelming that their victory was guaranteed.]

[They succeeded in the summoning. However, once the chaff of the was wiped from the war, they had a problem. Some of the remaining Servants might actually have a chance.]

[Maimakterion stared down at his hand, where the familiar mark of command seals was now unfamiliar. He'd had to use one. One of his three excuses to exist was gone. He can hear his handler from the magus family talking in the other room. They're trying to decide if this whole incident was a fluke or if "that tool" wasn't capable of using Foreigner to their true power. Tools could be replaced. For the first time in his brief, empty life he felt fear.]

[He picks up his book and walks away from the sound of people discussing his existence in hushed, sharp tones. He enters the room designated for him. He wasn't an expressive "child," regardless but there was certainly a pointed blankness to his face.]

[The name that had been decided on in case they needed to not arouse suspicion among "normal" people. Maimakterion never used it. He simply kept his mouth shut and let the handlers talk among humans.]

[From the moment he had summoned Rider, Athrun had wondered why she wore a blindfold. Or was it a mask? Could she see through it? He had no idea. All he knew is that it seemed to have no effect on her ability to sense the world around her, so either she could see through it, or her other senses were acute enough to compensate without significantly affecting her awareness.

Well, that ended after a recent battle. They had been up against Caster -- a hideous, twisted man who summoned otherworldly demons to fight them -- and Rider had finally removed her mask and revealed why she wears it. As Athrun watched in astonishment, every demon that fell within her line of sight quickly turned into stone. And with Athrun having been taught classical literature, that was enough for him to figure out who Rider really was.

Unfortunately, they were unable to defeat Caster that night. There was no end to the demons being summoned, and it was clear that Athrun's mana stores, large though they may be, would give out before Caster's did. They were forced to withdraw. They managed to elude Caster and make it home just after midnight. Athrun finally spoke on the subject once they were inside.]

I understand now why you didn't tell me your identity straight away. Never in a thousand years would I have figured you to be Medusa had I not seen you release your gaze tonight.

[It was evening, and Athrun was finished with work for the day. However, before he went home, there was something he wanted to check out. There was an investigation into the owners of a jewelry store located in the downtown area -- one which had ended in the death of the founder. It was an odd case, especially since he had been murdered in jail, in the middle of the night, under security. The officers on duty had no recollection of any intruders or unusual incidents prior to his death, either.

Once he arrives, Athrun shows his identification to the officer on watch and proceeds into the store. He looks around and, seeing nothing out of the ordinary in the store, heads into the back. He finds himself in a storage room, which seemed ordinary except for the ring of gemstones on the floor. They were a bright blue -- sapphires, maybe? He gets closer to take a better look, and realizes that the stones are opaque. So, not sapphire. Maybe they're lapis lazuli. He doesn't touch them or get in the circle, though. He has no belief that arcane rituals exist, but his instincts tell him not to test it. He circles around it partway, then turns back.

But in the dim light, Athrun fails to notice that a container of uncut diamonds spilled onto the floor next to the shelf where he is walking. His foot, unable to gain traction on the gems, slips out from under him, and he falls backward. He reflexively throws his arms out to spread out the impact, and lands flat on his back -- inside the lapis circle. A previously invisible rune lights up, and the circle begins to pour out vast quantities of light. Due to the shock of what's going on, all he can do is shut his eyes to avoid being blinded, and remains flat on the floor until the light dies down.]

they're partners in this, and she's not about to let his state get any worse. she wishes that it was a simple mercenary understanding that if he dies, it's right back to the throne of heroes with her and neither of them are getting what they want. there's more to it than that, that she doesn't dare voice. ]

Either way, she has high Madness Enhancement and will absolutely consider her Master her husband (whether they're male or female), and care more for wanting affection and being a good wife than participating in a war. Has intentionally sealed her strongest Noble Phantasm away out of shame/concern, like Vlad III's Legend of Dracula in Apocrypha, so a Master forcing her to use that could backfire.

Definitely looking for Servant/Master shipping here, but a Master to play the straightman to her thirsty nature would be best, especially a girl not sure about being a 'husband'.]
