Parent and Child

1. The surprise child option - You didn't even know you had a kid, and now they're showing up at your door just announcing you're a parent. Good luck with that.
2. The surprise parent option - No, I am your father.
3. Let's just get through today - it's a special occasion! Whether it's a birthday, Christmas or some other celebration, it's a big day and there's a lot going on. Control the sugar rush and avoid tears before bedtime, and you might just survive it.
4. What did you do!? - The dreaded call from the school has come, and now you've got to march down there and find out what your wayward child is up to today
5. Sick Day - Nobody's going anywhere today, call into work and notify the school, because your child is ILL.
6. Big shoes to fill - This is not your child. They're your little brother, your niece, your best friend's son, their real parents are gone and you're the only one who can step in.
7. Other - Got another idea? Fill your boots! No, not with that, oh god, who's going to clean this up?

Parent and Parent

1. Playdate - Oh my gosh you'll love my friend, he has a kid too! It's a blind date based solely on being parents, and your kids are there as well. Oh this should be fun.

5. Your child did WHAT? - You're both called in to the office because your kids have been fighting. Or caught making out. Or otherwise getting in trouble. Who gets the blame here?

1. Parent/Teacher Conference - Since he started school your child can't stop talking about their amazing/terrible teacher, and now you get to find out for yourself! (Oh no he's hot is optional)

Calls from the school are few and far between but lately they've become more regular. They rarely have to do with Dick's grades or his general attitude toward the teachers. Respect is a behavior Dick could muster sincerely. The calls from the headmaster often involve... movement. 'Have you thought about putting him on Ritalin?' was a question floated by an insensitive administrator at the most recent parent-teacher-admin conference. A question that was greeted with an intense glare and harsh words from Bruce.

He leaves the Mercedes parked in the fire lane and wanders in like he doesn't have a care in the world. Only the tightness in his shoulder muscles betrays his anger and concern.

Maybe they weren't exactly single parents, but they did just happen to be two married men struggling to make it in a very insane life somewhere between Auradon and The Isle when a ten year old little girl with magical powers was suddenly dropped into their home and lives. She was said to be of wicked and human parentage, but no one seemed to know more, so of course, this would be the 10th time already that they both had been called to the principal's office at Auradon's Middle School.

Supposedly, she'd conjured up a demon during history class, in order to teach the class the true story of Mickey and the Night on Bald Mountain. Although, how she would have known that was completely a mystery to anyone who might have been around. It was supposed to be just a tale after all, but in these parts-- it always seemed if all tales had their roots in facts.

But if only Jay didn't have to close up the Jewelry store he owned early to go meet with his daughter's principal over it; it would have been a tale he might have enjoyed another time. He just hoped that Harry would be able to meet him there this time. They'd barely been able to see each other in passing lately. Raising a new daughter, a troublemaker nonetheless, was nigh to impossible, and while they did their best, it was a weary test of exhaustion and communication on their relationship.

[ Technically, A-Ling was probably too young for play dates. Also, technically, Jiang Cheng had been less-than-thrilled to see his adopted brother the last time he'd tried to come home (totally reasonable, by the way) and so Wei Wuxian had tried to respect those wishes.

But in a moment of extreme weakness -- fueled by a not-insignificant amount of alcohol -- he had sent a text before stumbling to bed: see you tomorrow. And then he'd turned off his phone, so he could pretend he didn't see any angry refusals.

He'd even gotten up early! Eleven o'clock on this Saturday morning found him standing in front of his (adopted) family home, A-Yuan on his hip and a necessities bag slung over one shoulder. His little boy spoke quietly (and incomprehensibly) to the grass butterfly he held in one chubby hand, and Wei Wuxian couldn't help but smile.

Then he gathered whatever courage he'd managed to reserve from his night of drinking and rang the doorbell. ]

Kids going somewhat feral because the world they should have grown up in had ended? No duh. Erin had however been easy to sort of tame back into at least listening to the adults. Until in fighting started too close to her. Somehow she got herself up on the roof of a building and wasn't coming down. Not until things cooled down more.

She is probably going to get into huge amounts of trouble for pulling this though. Erin really doesn't care just so long as things are quiet. Erin didn't care for a lot of noise because noise was a great way for something dangerous to find you.

Speaking of being found? Yeah, Erin is pretty sure one of the adults has spotted her. The one who has actually been way better at running herd on her than the others. She huffs at him which is the most noise she has made since this whole thing started.

"I'm not going back down," she says pretty much using half her vocabulary for the day. Tiny angry child mode has been activated.
