hygge meme.
Hygge (Danish, noun): a complete absence of anything annoying or emotionally overwhelming; taking pleasure from the presence of gentle, soothing things.
Dark winter evening: it's raining outside and it's cold, you're stocking up on blankets, lighting all the candles you can get your hands on and the tea's already brewing in the kitchen. Fend off the darkest season as the Danes do and have a good time with people you love.
First summer picnic: the sun's shining from a clear, blue sky, the temperatures have finally risen after half a year of depressive icy greys and it's time to go outside, bring a picnic basket and break out the wine and strawberries. Enjoy the sunlight while it lasts in a park somewhere or in the forest, if you're adventurous.
Autumn stroll aftermath: the winds are harsh and the leaves colour everything golden and red. Coming home from a walk that has left your cheeks red and your hands cool, go make some hot chocolate and fix up a bowl of marshmallows, it's time to get cosy.
Springtime playtime: the outdoors are turning a fresh green and the sky is bluer than it's been all winter. Bring sodas and sandwiches and go play in the garden. Some exercise should be healthy for the mind as well as for the body, because a game is the best way to shake off winter and reconnect with friends.

Autumn
His steps take him towards the kitchen, as he finds himself craving a warm drink. It would certainly feel good after coming in from the windy outdoors!
Although it's not like Shokudaikiri Mitsutada-dono is a permanent fixture in the kitchen, it's a little surprising to not see him there, and find Ichigo Hitofuri-dono instead. Smiling warmly at the other man, he greets him as he enters the kitchen.
"Good afternoon, Ichigo Hitofuri-dono. Windy today, isn't it." Tonbokiri then looks down with interest at the drink Ichigo is preparing. "What do you have there?"

Ichigo glances over with a smile before turning his attention back to the drink he’s making.
“It’s called hot chocolate and those white bits are marshmallows. My brothers tried this the other day and really liked it, so I thought I’d give it a try too. Would you like a mug as well?”

Ichigo's offer makes him try to curb his eager smile into something more appropriately modest.
"Thank you. If you have some to spare, I could give it a try." (As if his love of sweets isn't one of the worst-kept secrets in Honmaru.)
"Your brothers are always finding new things to try. Their enthusiasm is admirable."

With that, Ichigo starts working on making another mug as he laughs.
“Yes, they do have lots of enthusiasm. It’s sometimes rather hard to keep up!”

"Your keeping up with them as much as you do is equally admirable," he compliments seriously. He himself has enough trouble keeping up with Muramasa. But then, Ichigo's brothers are far better behaved than that one capricious sword. He shakes his head once at himself to dispel such thoughts.
"If I may ask, do you find time alone refreshing?"

Then he falls silent for a moment as he thinks about his question. “Well, I suppose it is. I mean, it’s fine being around other people but sometimes, one just need time to themselves to relax, recharge and do what they enjoy.”

"You have a hobby then? What do you like to do during that quiet time?"

“Yes, I usually practice yabusame or just go horse riding.”

"Yabusame! Should you ever wish to perform for New Years or another festival, only say the word and I shall assist you however I can." Leave it to him!
He then thanks Ichigo for the mug and sips at it, cautious of the temperature.
"Ah, it's so sweet! The march-- marshmallow, is a good texture." He blushes a little at the mispronunciation, but doesn't dwell on it. Such is the way with new words sometimes.

“Thank you, Tonbokiri-dono, I will do so when the time comes. I do intend to go to the stables later today actually. Would you like to accompany me?”
Ichigo takes another sip and looks out the window at the autumn leaves. “Yes, and this sweet warmth goes perfectly with this cool weather, doesn’t it? And what about you, Tonbokiri-dono, what do you like to do in your leisure?”

"I couldn't agree more! You well understand how they go together. Mm. As for hobbies, muscle training!" He smiles confidently, then becoming more thoughtful he adds, "and horse riding, too. I do like to read books as well..." He trials off and laughs with a touch of embarrassment. "There are many things for one to enjoy in this form."

Ichigo laughs at that. “Muscle training? Surely you don’t require more of that?” He really can’t imagine the other getting any bigger than he already was! Then he nods. “I see. What sort of books do you like reading? And yes, there certainly are.”

Chuckling in return, he takes a cautious sip of the drink before answering.
"One must work hard every day to maintain what was bestowed upon us, no matter our form. However I also enjoy the exercise. It feels very satisfying to hone one's strength." He nods firmly, then becomes more thoughtful. "Mm. As for books, I have been reading some history books. Well, the history of the world, but it is the future from when I was forged. It is fascinating to read about the great leaders in other countries, and the wars they fought."

He's not that kind of Muramasa!"Ah- perhaps after this, let us do that. It is important to start while you're thinking of it, and keep that momentum."Smiling encouragingly, he takes another small sip of hot chocolate, then hums thoughtfully.
"Something that could help our battles? Of course, their situations and battles were quite different from ours. But I would say, it is valuable to study the events in retrospect, and see how each turning point came to pass." He rubs the back of his head, abashed. "I admit, following Aruji's orders is enough for me. However it's perhaps a good thing to think about the big picture from time to time."

He smiles back. “Sure. We could do that. Where do you usually go to train?”
Ichigo nods thoughtfully as he mulls over what Tonbokiri has said. “I see... In any case, I think it’s valuable information to have. You never know when we might meet a similar situation to those in the books you’ve read and it might provide us with important insight into how we might avoid any mistakes that these leaders have made before.”

Ahh... that he could be the one with an important insight-! That is not usually his role, but, he will do anything to be of use to Aruji. He nods firmly. "In that case, I shall continue to read about a variety of situations."
As his hot chocolate is cooling, he can take a longer sip, and catches up some marshmallows. All too soon the delicious drink will be finished, sadness... But he perks up at the continuing topic.
"As for training, Aruji very kindly gave us a room especially for muscle training! There are several types of equipment to use, so we can refine our strengths even further, and build up any weaknesses." He tilts his head curiously and says kindly, "I will have a good idea of what training might be best once I see your muscles for myself, but is there anything in particular you think you'd like to work on?"

Ichigo turns back to his drink as well and he takes a few more sips to finish it. “I see... Do many people use this room?”
He hesitates for a moment upon hearing that Tonbokiri will have to ‘see his muscles’. He really doesn’t want to remove his top... But he is soon roused from his thoughts by his next question.
“Anything in particular I want to work on....? Hmmm.... I’m not sure. I’ve never tried muscle training before so... I suppose I just want to increase my overall strength and health?”

Nodding again, he continues to answer the earlier question, “Just a few of us use the room consistently. Doudanuki Masakuni-dono, Yamabushi Kunihiro-dono …” He puts a hand to his chin, his smile fading into a contemplative frown. “Come to think of it, I wonder why more swords haven’t joined us.” But he smiles easily again. “There are many ways to train, and everyone has their own way.”
