[The world was ending tomorrow.
Okay, so that's a bit of an exaggeration. The world wasn't ending, but he would be heading out to face down another Alpha, and honestly? Derek isn't sure he'll be coming back.
Which is why he slipped into Stiles' room via the window (because doors are for humans, not wolves who can scale walls without even blinking and also he doesn't want to risk getting caught by Stiles' father, who is supposed to be working but you never know) and is just sitting there in his computer chair, watching the kid sleep. It's almost midnight. He's been sitting silently for fifteen minutes, listening to Stiles' steady, even breathing. The sound is strangely calming.]

[ Being a fugitive, for the record, is not Sebastian Moran's idea of a good time.
It's his idea of a rollicking adventure but it is not how he would voluntarily choose to spend a friday night. Actually, technically, it's Jim who's the fugitive, Sebastian's the 'hostage', but that doesn't really make the situation any better. The room seems like a prison though, too big, too empty, and too quiet for Sebastian, though it's more sterile and less comfortable than a prison.
Jim's quietude isn't helping either. ]
It's astounding you can be this calm right now. [ He has an arm against one of the counters, jaw cradled in his palm. Eyes set on Moriarty, the sad old sausage, Moran regards him with a half-lidded gaze, fatigue starting to set in after being on the run for god knows how long, and awake for even longer. ] We should be leaving London, perhaps the bleeding country. Head for South Africa, or India, hear it's nice this time of year.
[ Silence. Sebastian raises his hands to rub at his eyes with his knuckles. ] Should have never gotten involved with him. Should have never started, Jim. I told you he was trouble. [ A sigh. ]
