Grooming is an important part of many species' rituals. It keeps them clean, healthy, and content. And a good bath? It can change the whole tone of a day from terrible to relaxed and blissful. But nudity is sometimes viewed as a weakness - and it is almost always sexualized - so bathing is often kept a private matter. If you do share these moments with someone, they're almost always a significant other or a sexual partner. Like you're doing now. Whether it be after a battle or after sex (or before sex, even), the two of you are going to get clean. Be sure to help each other out with that, won't you? After all, there are places on the back that just can't be reached... As one of the youngest slaves, his father had sold him when the young boy had pulled a knife on him late at night on his cot. Brice had been laughed at when he'd tried to get into the ring to earn his freedom. While he thought he had a nice physique, even the people at court tended to overlook him. He assumed his past had followed him, as even the older males tended to shy away from him. This had left Brice with little to do that made him worthy of even staying alive.

So, he found jobs to do, becoming the whipping boy for the other slaves and trying to weasel his way into the gladiators' good graces. Which, honestly, had brought him into Agron's presence in the first place. There was to be a dinner and display that evening, and all had to look presentable, but some had to look ready to impress. The four buckets of water steamed up from the pole across Brice's back as he gingerly made it into the small, cramped tub room.

He knew better than to look up, unsure with which gladiator would get the cleanest water. He had also been given scented oils to apply to the bath and then directly to the skin, but most of the time the fighters simply broke the clay vials. "I'll have the water ready in a second," he apologized, leaning back far enough that the buckets finally touched the floor before Brice twisted himself out from under the pole.

[ Ember Island. It's a place with a lot of complicated memories for Zuko... some good, some bad, many in-between. The war has been over for years now, and things have... changed, to say the least. The pendulum between the "are they" and "aren't they" for him and Mai has finally settled in the direction of the former, but not without some significant discussion.

The vacation had been his uncle's idea. He could handle the affairs of the Fire Nation in his stead; Zuko needed some time to relax. More than that, Iroh told him, he needed to spend time with the person he loves.

One of the perks of being Fire Lord is that he has the family summer home to himself. It's obviously a bittersweet memory, but having Mai there makes it worth it. And the bath is pretty nice... room enough for two people, anyway. And being a firebender means he can keep the water warm. ]

I don't remember your hair being quite this long before.

[ He's not complaining. It was his idea to wash her hair for her, anyway. But it was mostly just an excuse to run his hands through it, to try and spoil her a little. The fact that it means she's all but seated in his lap as he does it is a nice plus, too. ]
