[ dragging a hand through his hair, he sighs. it seems getting anything out of wolke will be like pulling teeth, but alec has met more daunting challenges than a reticent stranger. ]

Of course. With a fall like that, you'll probably need a few days rest at least. You can stay here or I can get you a room in town if you'd prefer.

[ he watches, quietly for a few minutes before getting up to stoke the fire. ]

Once you're fully healed, I can arrange passage for you either by land, sea, or magic. Given how you arrived, I'm guessing you'll prefer the latter.

[ glancing over his shoulder, he gives wolke a meaningful look. one that says the other blond can elaborate on what the hell happened, if he'd like. now would be a good time. ]

I'd rather not, actually. [He makes a face.] To unpredictable. [Plus can you trust a mage? No. Or at least not in 99% of the cases. They always have their own agenda. Granted, so has anyone else, but anyone else won't be able to pull surprising stunts to back their agenda up.]

Particularly considering how I arrived I'd rather not leave by magic. I had not been supposed to come out that high up in the air.

[ okay, that's fair. though he has a lot more faith in thero's magic than he does in whoever sent wolke here, he figures it's probably for the best that they don't resort to magic again.

alec is also noting that wolke hasn't declined staying in the manor. it seems like a small win, but not worth pressing. and while alec is familiar working alongside someone who keeps everything so close to the vest, he isn't sure how he stands with this man. ]

No magic, then. That means you'll need a boat if you want to get off the island. I can definitely arrange that, though it might take a while. My tali is currently out seeing to our manifests and our ships, but I can have word sent to him once you're better.

The question is: Where else? He's pretty sure this isn't Kansas any more, so to speak. The feeling aside, the way Alec talks about things paints the picture of a very different world.] There is no hurry, I don't think. [Both because he cannot go back and because he doubts he could.
