It was so hot it felt like simply breathing the air was enough to sear his lungs. The red-orange that deepened shadows and seemed to compose the entirety of Mustafar only added to the impression of heat, seemed to make the physical temperature higher, and harder to get away from.

Listening to Anakin, who was seemingly entirely out of his mind, knowing Padme was lying unconscious on the ground....

He was frustrated, he was frightened, and he wasn't far from angry.

He only narrowly avoided lighting his 'saber. Equally narrowly avoided committing himself to following his orders from Yoda by telling Anakin he would do what he would have to.

Instead he simply kept his hands empty and lose at his sides, and forced himself to keep his breathing slow.

"Anakin.... Stop. Just... stop and think. Breathe." Something. Anything.

called to speak to the Senate, he leaves frustrated, irritated, and often with a headache.

That didn't mean that he disliked all politicians as individuals - he had friends among the senators. It was just the process--

He stopped his thoughts, turned to look at Garrik and shook his head slightly, somehow seeming apologetic as he did. "You look every bit as frustrated as I feel. Are you certain you chose the right career?"

Jay had to chuckle to himself a bit before falling into step with the famed Obi-Wan Kenobi. He looked out of the large windows over the city and shook his head.

"If I am honest, Master Kenobi, I had seen myself as more of a scientist than a politician. An old friend of mine teases me relentlessly about it. And sometimes...I miss the fresh air and skies of Keystone. May I join you? A recess has been called and I certainly do not wish to sit with a bunch of other stuffy senators."

His smile was slight, but it was absolutely sincere. "Of course. Though I can't promise to be stuffy, I can at least be a different sort of stuffy." A stuffy Jedi, instead. "I haven't been to Keystone. Tell me about it as we walk."

He was just going to go find the quiet place, honestly. Destination, for now, was less important than the journey.

And assorted other Zen nonsense.

That had the dark haired man chuckle as well as he walked along the hallowed halls with Master Kenobi, feeling a sense of peace with him.

"The buildings aren't as tall as they are here. And, as I had mentioned, the oxygen levels are lovely. And so much greenery that one wouldn't know what to do with themselves other than to bask in the rolling hills of our parks and wildlife. Not without our own troubles, as with many cities, of course, but people are kinder there. Life is a little bit slower. I long for the visits home so that I could just walk down the street and enjoy a lovely burger and shake," Jay chuckled.

"Not that this sort of work isn't important. I found it to be important, giving our planet a voice, as it were. There were many other representatives that came forth, interested in taking a seat in the senate for us."
