Castiel was still getting used to being more destructible than usual. He had made himself the Winchester's guardian, and he did not think before shoving Sam out of the way.

It was a fatal flaw. The angel was without his powers, and the Demon's blade sank deep, pain bursting through him with unfamiliar surety. He had known pain before, pain far worse than that of a simple stab wound. But this was different, and Castiel realized his mistake a little too late as he stumbled back a step and fired the rock salt round into the demon.

After the shot, his glance dropped to the handle sticking out of his chest, the gun slipping slightly in his hand.

She hadn't known what to think, about the "human" creatures moving about. The air crackled with fire and reeked of death, the smell threatening to ruin the caster's composure. These beasts, whatever they were, were a lot stronger of an opponent, and much faster, than she'd ever encountered. Some of them seemed to have human intelligence, while others moved and groaned awkwardly, from the looks of it. It was hard to tell when she felt genuinely afraid. It was hard to tell when it took a lot of willpower not to collapse from her own fears.

Lisa hadn't expected to encounter them at all, but when one's spells backfired and twisted around in a one in a million chance, sometimes these things happened.

Whatever world this was, it certainly wasn't hers.

But the fire seemed to be working well enough, filling the air with the stench of burning flesh, hair and cloth. The fire flowed from her hands with nigh reckless abandon, the flames catching the wind (also under her control) and riding on them to tear through the massive ranks like giant throwing spears.

But, even only partly mortal, her energy would only last for so long, and her willpower might only last a fraction of that time. It took everything in her not to look at the blood that was shed from the piercing and shredding quality of the wind.

And however long it took for the caster's other personality to surface would be that much closer to her own death.

She dared not turn her back to these opponents, and used a free hand to tug her tattered, travel-worn cloak closer to her body, more for comfort than anything else.

The distress beacon had been a total failure, badly planned out in hindsight. But James didn't dwell on the past, not when he'd had the present to focus on quite so vehemently.

The start had been rough, coming to terms with his willing capture that had turned sour. He'd fought tooth and nail through some of it, while playing along with other parts, listening, learning and silently plotting. The island made for a virtually impossible escape, his only real chance of getting off the island rested with a yacht that wasn't even there half the time. If nothing else, he was somewhat grateful for the long reign he was given as time went on.

The company wasn't anything to complain about either. Silva did at least provide intelligent conversation, fine alcohol, exceptional food and in-depth discussions that Bond tended not to actually say much during. The psychosis from the other wasn't anything unmanageable (no worse than the innuendo and constant hints at sex) and despite everything, James could see similarities. It was difficult to entirely resist those charms at times...

The first time was a mistake, something he blamed on too much alcohol and far too long without the company of a woman. He'd sworn to himself it wouldn't happen again...

The second time was an error in judgement. Clearly he wasn't thinking straight...

The third time was just fucking ridiculous. Running out of excuses and not even bothering to promise himself any further. Every time he even remotely tried to resist, his body tended to have other ideas.

Good trust builder though, he argued to himself, and hell, it even meant the option of getting onto that yacht, yet still with company in tow. He liked the yacht, though. It presented a level of freedom that he'd always loved with sailing, the ability to travel virtually any where and anchor up wherever the mood struck. Plus it gave him the chance to spend hours up on deck tinkering without ever really focusing his mind on much, and James was always so good with his hands.

The yacht had been anchored up near one of the tropical looking islands near China on a ridiculously hot day. Bond was quite gladly sat on the bow, occupying himself with sorting out a frayed line with steady hands, something that should have taken minutes but had been occupying his time for a good hour or so, just for the sake of something to do.

She doesn't think much of finishing a bottle of wine on her own anymore. What that says about her and how she spends her nights can't be anything positive; but she has long since given up on wasting time with what people thought of her habits. Usually they're something medium bodied and warm. Suited to the winter nights but nothing wholly remarkable. Nothing that needs to be shared. But this latest find, well. Adele hasn't uncorked it yet but the label is handwritten, faintly yellowed, and sealed with proper wax over what might be a hand cut cork, indistinct initials stamped on top in what could have been gold foil.

Mass produced wine you can drink on your own. Something like this, though, where the sweat and blood that went into it is so much more immediate? Begs to be shared. Not that she has anyone with which to share it. There is the man a few doors down, and it's a strange thing to ask, she knows. She's also curious about the wine, about her almost neighbor, and for once she's tired of being cold and without conversation for the night.

Bottle in hand, two glasses dangling from the other she makes her way down the narrow hall to his door and knocks. He might be asleep. He might be out. It can't hurt to try.
