star☆crossed L O V E R S

When two people come together in a relationship, it's a beautiful thing. What can be wrong with love, right? Right? Except when the union is completely and totally wrong, for whatever reason. Then things can get a little messy.
How To Play
1. Comment with your character, listing their name, canon, etc, along with any preferences. 2. Comment around to others, using the RNG to determine the scenario. It doesn't have to be a lovey-dovey relationship, obviously. There can be hate, sorrow, lust, whatever. 3. Thread! Have fun! Do things!
Scenarios
1. Warring Factions: You belong to rival organizations, armies, clubs, etc. Whatever it is, you're not on the same team.
2. Soldiers on the Battlefield: Or maybe you are on the same side, but this is the wrong time and the wrong place. Plus, attachments cause distractions.
3. Bodyguard and the Guarded: Just like the movie with Kevin Costner! One of you has been hired to protect the other for some reason, and feelings are starting to grow. Are you a professional and cut things off, or do you give in?
4. Prince/ss and Knight: Similar to the above, but with a whole 'nother level of wrong...one of you is royal. Courtly love is okay; still, don't forget your place.
5. Enemies: This vendetta is personal, and you totally hate this person! Don't you? Perhaps you're maybe just rivals, or something as serious as superhero and villain.
6. Family: The ultimate taboo. This person is related to you, so there's no way you should indulge this desire, even if it's the most pure love there ever was.
7. Age Difference: The years between you should keep you both at bay, but it's easier said than done.
8. Teacher/Student: Teachers and students have a unique bond, and to corrupt it is a dangerous thing. Will you dare to act on emotions that could put you both in a destructive place?
9. Already Spoken For: One or both of you are already involved with someone else, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Just know that you can't have your cake and eat it, too.
10. Not Compatible: Your personalities or jobs make it so it's hard for you to be together.
11. Not Compatible...in Another Way: You're both different species, which means you're either afraid to take your relationship to a physical level or you can't because of differences in biologies.
12. Not Ready for Love: You took a vow (or celibacy, of chastity, of dedication), you're married to your work, or you just don't want to be involved with anyone. Too bad!
13. Rich and Poor: One of you has the money while the other is from more modest means. Can the 1% and the 99% ever be bedfellows, literally?
14. Hurt Before: Your heart has been broken, and maybe there's been no time to heal. But here you are.

Rey ✨ Star Wars
this popped in my head at random, hope you don't mind. some time ambiguously post-TLJ maybe?
As her new Whisper cut through hyperspace — her Silencer was just as fast but she needed the near-stealth capabilities of the new model — she tried to also limit her own presence in the Force. Something made more difficult by some warring thoughts in her head. Was it foolish, seeking out Rey in a bolder way than simply across the bond that had been struck between them? Possibly. Probably. Dangerous without a doubt. She shouldn't even be caring or allowing herself to care. That was a road that only ever lead to pain. Hadn't she had enough by now?
But it was something she wanted to do. Needed to do. To see her with her own eyes and not across space. Brianna had a need to reassure herself that the other woman wasn't simply a phantom in her mind, a memory twisted, something conjured by herself or someone else.
She didn't know what had brought Rey to this particular planet or this part of the galaxy, and to an extent she didn't care. More of a concern was that she couldn't be entirely sure Rey was alone. But she did know she could count on Rey's desire to help and keep her friends safe to allow for at least a brief solo meeting. So after hiding her ship and traveling several kilometers on foot, Brianna stopped trying to keep her presence toned down and reached out along the ever-strengthening thread that bound the two women together.
"I do hope I'm not interrupting anything important, Rey, but I would like for you and I to have a chat."
❤️💖 it's fabulous!
She slipped away, her comings and goings obfuscated comfortably beneath the blanket of 'jedi things', business nobody understood with the exception perhaps of the General. Leia however had her hands full and it was that absence Rey now used to her advantage, taking off for the greenest grass anyone could tell her about. The cause wasn't forgotten, and Rey could never forget her place in this, but she felt fragile - a feeling she loathed. It was a small matter of inventing a lead within the aging pages of the sacred texts and she was off, grasping for the few shreds of time she could make her own as she lay in the soft, tall grass of a world where the most pressing issues centered around things like farming and the crops coming in on time. The heavy hand of war didn't destroy anything here, and for now she could be still enough to catch her breath while she tried to pull herself back together once more.
Under the warm afternoon daylight it was easy to think of nothing but the gentle way blades of grass dappled at her cheeks as gently as the brush of a hand. Here in the relative peace of this green world Rey's thoughts could quiet enough that the endless loop they ordinarily seemed to whirl in slower to a temporary stop - at least for a little while.
That stillness was disturbed as easily as it had been won. All the green grass and gentle breeze could never truly hush the roar of Rey's entanglements, and the pull of Brianna, reaching out within the Force brought that realization to stark focus.
Rey opened her eyes, frowning up at the powder blue sky above as she let the call of the other woman wash over her awareness. Brianna - three syllables, and an army's worth of pain. Rey hated herself for the way her heart fluttered with a giddy breed of energy when she felt the other woman within the Force.
"About what?" She sat up slowly, her mind swimming with thoughts of fair hair and fierce eyes as she looked ahead, focusing hard enough to bring the other woman close enough within the Force to see. "What's left to say Brianna?" They had chosen their sides hadn't they? Rey hated to admit it, but even on opposite sides of a wall they both seemed inclined to brick up and tear down simultaneously she still felt a sadness she hadn't known to be possible. Did Brianna even know how close they had come? Did she even care?
sorry again for the delay
Snoke had been right — her soul was torn, but it always had been. At least as long as Brianna had been aware of it. Recent events made new wounds and inflamed the old, and she hadn't yet been able to determine if her connection with Rey would join that list.
"If you really thought there was nothing left to say, I don't think you would have answered." Or maybe that was just her projecting.
With the both of them focusing on the bond it made it easier for Brianna to get a sense of where Rey physically was, and she shifted her own path in that direction. It didn't matter that she could see Rey clearly through the Force; she wanted to see her. To what end, Brianna wasn't exactly sure. Maybe once they were face to face it all would become clearer.
no worries! i'm looking forward to writing these two
"You're moving, fast." Rey didn't have to stretch far to sense the way Brianna seemed to be cutting a hasty swath through the galaxy, she could sense the other woman's urgency and it made her heart suddenly too large for her chest.
"Are you coming closer?" She looked at Brianna, shrewd and conflicted and suddenly almost desperate to see her face to face - to what end she did not know, only that she wanted it to come to pass very much.

When the sudden question came there was a fleeting moment where she had to fight not to crack a smile; she told herself it was merely from a hint of pride at how Rey was improving at using the Force and sensing things through it. Brianna didn't answer immediately. Her focus was somewhat split, though at least there wasn't a need for her to lessen her focus on their active connection since there were scarcely any distractions on her path. Surprising, in a way. Or maybe she was just too accustomed to having to fight her way through problems to get to where she wanted to be. Somewhere as tranquil and removed from galactic politics and problems as this? It felt a bit like a path of least resistance.
"I wanted to see you." she at last replied, honest even if she tried to minimize any emotion that crept into her voice.
And soon enough she did — or at least, Brianna could make out Rey's form in the distance, and she relaxed her pace slightly. It was only then, as she approached with little caution, that it occurred to her she might have been wise to prepare for an unpleasant encounter. Normally, usually, she would have but something about Rey made her not want to consider such options.

Muttering under her breath Rey took a few more steps forward, and then a few more after that. She tried to keep the pull towards Brianna out of her step, attempting to approach her with the same leisurely confidence that her unexpected visitor had while coming closer to her. Rey had her doubts about her success.
She was able to breathe normally - or at least had figured out how to appear like she had - by the time Brianna was less than a yard away. Rey paused in her step to watch, studying the curves of the woman's face, taking in the relentless intensity of her eyes. For a long moment Rey only looked as though she were on the verge of speaking, as no actual sound managed to make its way out. Her eyes were wide and the surprise was evident in her face, the edges of it softened by that trace of unexpected happiness she was unable to prevent.
"Was it worth the trip?" Brianna had come to see her after all, and now there they were, almost in arm's distance without a battle to fight in sight.

A spike of something caused her pulse to quicken and she straightened her shoulders, willing herself to hold to that certain aloofness she tended to carry. Was there a point though? Really? That she had gone out of her way to physically see the other woman — something that was bound to become clear to Rey if it wasn't already — said well enough that she was far from unaffected.
Brianna slowed and at last stopped when they were near to each other. Perhaps too near, depending, but it had seemed like neither of them had a terrible want to keep their distance. It did please her to see Rey seemed surprised by her appearance, as it meant she'd been successful at restraining her presence at least to an extent. In the wake of Snoke's death, she had been putting more effort into having control of herself in as many ways possible.
"Yes," came out before she could think of something more eloquent and somewhat guarded to say, and Brianna tilted her head slightly as she regarded Rey. "And I take it you're at least not horribly unhappy to see me, given you haven't raised a weapon."

Rey raised both of her hands a bit before she dropped them to her sides. "No weapon to raise at you, and I don't want to fight." She knew Brianna didn't either. There was a sense of contentment that seemed almost wary at its edges, but it was certainly a far cry from waging war.
Staring across the small distance between them Rey appeared to turn something over in her mind for a long moment. Her hand came up slowly, extending towards Brianna as she looked at the other woman with wide, hesitant eyes.
She wasn't entirely sure what she was going to do should Brianna actually take her offered hand, but she knew very certainly that she wanted the other woman to all the same. It was quiet here far from the demands of either of their respective sides, if there was a way to put everything aside at least for a little while Rey could be happy with that.

The urge quickly came and went, with the protectiveness noted in the back of her mind. It wasn't a surprise exactly, especially not now after they'd fought together even if it was only the once. But it still wasn't a sensation Brianna often had toward others. No one really had given her a reason to have it.
Her brow furrowed slightly, head tilting, when Rey offered her a hand. It felt strange to be on the other side of such a gesture. Brianna — well, no, Kylo — wanted to leap to the defensive and point out how Rey had rebuffed her own offer. But Brianna hadn't come to fight, or argue, or be hostile. She didn't want to fight. That was all so... exhausting.
Hesitating, after a breath or two she came forward another step as she reached a hand out to take Rey's. She felt like she should say something, anything, yet instead all she did was gently grip the younger woman's hand as she drew another step closer, looking at her almost curiously.

She took Brianna back to the spot on the grass she had been watching the day pass only moments ago, the Skywalker lightsaber discarded in the grass nearby, along with her pack. While this had been largely unexpected - though was it ever really, as close as the other woman could feel at times - she had needed to see Brianna, needed to feel the other woman's hand in hers, their fingers laced together. It made her heart skip a beat to think it was actually happening, but it didn't intimidate Rey away from the idea as perhaps it usually might have done. Being close with another person was a new concept for the scavenger, who had spent most of her life keeping away from others for her own safety, but she was learning to be a little braver, to trust.
Rey sank down to sit in the low soft patch of grass, trying to move carefully enough that she wouldn't have to let go of Brianna's hand to do so. There was a sense of peace and connection that came from the touch that, when coupled with the depth of Rey's feelings for the other woman felt, well, right. Now that she had it she didn't want to give it up until she had to.
"We can just stay here a little while, can't we?" Rey's gaze flicked to Brianna's face and there was no mistaking the hopefulness in her eyes.

As she quietly followed Rey she found her focus lingering on her, even though normally she would be cautious and sizing up her surroundings. Just because a place was peaceful one moment didn't mean it couldn't fall into chaos the next. It felt strange to not feel the need to be on guard like that at present. Fleetingly, she wondered if that was how most people managed to feel, at least those not involved in the war, or any war.
There was a sense of grace to her movements when she joined the younger woman in the grass, still holding hands. Her eyes did flick to the lightsaber, lingering ever so briefly, but Brianna didn't feel as compelled toward it as usual. More so, she just... wanted to share a moment with Rey. She didn't want to talk about or do anything that would churn up the reasons for them to be at each other's throats. Brianna met that hopeful gaze and she found herself briefly squeezing Rey's hand without thinking about it. "We can, if the galaxy sees fit to allow it." It was a slight joke, or meant to be in any case.
Letting out a quiet sigh, Brianna turned her head to look across the grassy field, taking it in even as her senses remained primarily on what was right next to her. "It might sound silly, but part of why I wanted to see you was to make sure this — you were real. Not just... in my mind." She cast a sideways glance to the ground briefly before almost forcing herself to look at Rey. As much as she wasn't fond of feeling vulnerable, she did prefer to be honest. And somehow, somehow she felt like Rey wouldn't judge her for what she was saying. Or at least Brianna hoped she wouldn't.

When Brianna looked away to survey the sprawl of the rolling field that stretched around them in all directions Rey couldn't help but steal a long glance at her. A smile curved the edges of her mouth as she studied Brianna's profile, her hair moving slightly in the gentle breeze that swept across the landscape. It was easy to get a little lost in the sight and disregard all the reasons why getting this close to Brianna was probably an unwise idea.
Rey was not wise, but she was very aware of that indefinable feeling rampaging across her psyche, making her bring her free hand across her lap to rest on top of the hand she already held. Whatever it was, whatever it meant Rey was happy to be there with her.
The color on her cheeks deepened a shade when Brianna spoke, reflecting on why it was she had come this far in the first place. Another breathy laugh escaped Rey as she nodded in firm agreement - as Brianna had said to her once in less friendly circumstances; she felt it too.
“I’m real - I don’t know what we’re meant to do with,” tilting her head from side to side Rey’s eyes swept the area before landing back on Brianna. “This, but,” stars whatever it was Rey wanted to do it very muhc.

Sometimes a person had to believe in a thing and ignore all other possibilities or doubts lest they go mad. (She knew that she hadn't, despite how some of her outbursts could prompt such whispers, and despite all that she had been through.)
"I don't know what it means either." Brianna confessed quietly. It was easier to admit to such things, to allow some weakness — no, vulnerability, they weren't the same — when she knew it was just the two of them. There was no need to put on a display here, to project the image of strength she needed to have constantly. Perhaps she should but... she didn't feel the need for it. She didn't want to be that, here and now, with Rey.
With a light sigh she shifted, turning a bit more toward Rey. There was an urge to touch the other woman's face but Brianna held it back, instead placing her other hand over theirs for a moment and brushing her thumb across Rey's knuckles, her eyes dropping to gaze at their hands. "It should bother me more, the not knowing. And it does, bother me, but..." Her brow furrowed a little, hand moving to rest on her leg, leaving her to look at her single hand in the other woman's. A gentle, caring touch, not restrictive.
"It's nice to not feel so alone." she finally said quietly, lifting her eyes to look at Rey's face.
