[ Everything about this was fresh and new, so they were keeping it secret. Secret from other competitors, secret from press, secret from nearly everyone. JJ spotted him at the post-competition banquet and god he wanted to be up next to him, on his arm. Keeping close. But he had kept up appearances, they both had. It was not easy for JJ to act like there was nothing going on. Even though he's putting on a good show, he's a terrible liar at his core. He...is doing the best he can.

He senses a moment, a break in everything - his parents are busy with some sponsors, and so he takes a free few moments to approach Otabek and offers a harmless offer. It's not like he can disappear for long, nor can Otabek - and certainly both can't without it seeming suspicious.

But he'd take a few moments of time alone to having to watch and pretend for the rest of the night. So, he leans a little in. ]

Can we talk a moment?

[ Otabek knew that JJ was having a hard time with having to keep everything a secret, the other skater wasn't exactly discreet. So when the other comes over to get his attention he doesn't bother telling him no. Instead he nods and motions for JJ to lead the way before following him. There was only one person he had told JJ that he would tell...Yuri. How could he not. If he didn't his blonde friend would be all over him wanting to know why suddenly they were 'friends' or why he did things like this, wandering off with the guy who basically is Yuri's tormentor.

When they get to a more secluded spot Otabek is already standing closer than he would out in public and he's grinning lightly. Just a small look. ]

You really can't handle not being near me can you?

[ JJ finds a side hallway, a place not far from storage closets that he had noticed no one was using. It was about as private as they could get when at one of these banquets, and to be honest, he'd take it. He'd take anything for a few moments alone. To have the chance to just close that distance and not pretend like they were strictly competitors. While Otabek steps in close, JJ closes that distance and wraps his arms around Otabek's shoulders, burying his face in the other's hair on top of his head.

He's not going to let go until he absolutely has to. And he's sure Otabek knows it. He sighs dramatically lifting his head but keeping his arms around him tight. ]

It's basically torture, Beks. You're out there looking as good as you do, and all I can think about is how you're mine. [ For a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve, to not look all starry eyed every time he glances at him, it was quite a task. ]

So if I can steal a few minutes, I'm going to.

[ The way JJ wraps him up has Otabek smiling softly, a smile that no one really gets to see often but it's something he can't help when it comes to the over the top skater. Instead of pulling away or pushing the other he lets his hands rest on JJ's hips, head falling to rest on the taller mans shoulder with a sigh. His shoulders sort of sag as he stays there soaking up JJ's warmth.

Sure he was able to hide things easier but that didn't mean the distance and faking didn't affect him too. He missed the subtle touches, the way JJ seemed to light up around him, it was something he hated hiding even if he knew there was a good reason for it.

At first all he can do to respond is hum, a content sort of sound, against JJ's shoulder. ]

It's harder than I thought it would be, especially at these parties.

Especially because you look so gorgeous dressed up.

[ It would be flattery from anyone else. But it isn't when he says it because he means it. He's always sincere with Otabek, though. Especially like this. His arms shifted a little, and tightened, holding Otabek there, close. One more moment like this, he decides. Just to hold the other, be close to him. He already feels better. ]

Whenever they ask about how I feel the other competitors did --

[ And a smile. ]

I must sound like your biggest fan.

[ And he just might be. ]

I'm not the only one.

[ His head falls once more on the taller skaters shoulder and he sighs, a happy content sound. ]

You really do, I heard one of your interviews. Careful, [ He teases. ] people might start to suspect something.

I love you, though.

[ He whines it out. He wants to talk about how much he loves and cares for Otabek. He wants the world to know that this guy is the light of his life. ]

I'll make sure to focus more on your routine next time! No talk about you...personally.

That's the only way I can do it, right?

[ He settles his arms around the other. ]
