( affectionate physical contact. )

the affectionate physical contact meme

you love spending time with your significant other. but sometimes, just "spending time" with him/her isn't enough. you need to have your hands on each other every now and then.

➝ post your character below, with your character's name and series in the subject.

➝ tag other people, using an rng with range 1-8 to roll a scenario.

➝ roll as many times as you want, play out whatever you want!

one; hugging.
you just want to give your loved one a warm embrace. be it out of happiness, to comfort them while they're down, or just to give them something warm to latch onto, you just want to wrap your arms around them.

two; kissing.
whether it's a peck on the cheek or a deep kiss, a kiss good-bye or a romantic kiss, you find yourself compelled to kiss the other person! be as tender or as passionate as you so choose.

three; holding hands.
it's a simple gesture, really -- to reach out and take someone's hand. but that one simple gesture can convey any number of sentiments. what the sentiment is, is up to you, but you find yourself reaching out to take your significant other's hand.

four; carrying.
is your loved one hurt and needs a lift? do they want a piggyback ride? or do you just want to spare them the effort of walking? whatever the reason, you're now itching to pick up your partner and carry them to their destination.

five; i love you.
you've said it before or maybe you haven't but now you have to say it again or for the first time.

six; dancing.
kick up the music, because it's time to dance! but no lone dancing allowed -- you need to have a partner! you can do whatever dance strikes your fancy. personally, i recommend the slow dance, but you can do whatever you want!

seven; massaging.
did your significant other have a rough day? did they get hurt? or do you just feel like doing something really nice for them? whatever it is, you're giving them a nice massage now. they'll feel wonderful in no time!

eight; flirting.
the easiest way to break the ice or maybe you're just an overly flirty person.

nine; cuddling.
sometimes there's just no better feeling than curling up next to each other on a warm sofa. hold each other, lie next to each other, fall asleep on each other -- it's all good here.

ten; wild card!
reroll, pick an option, or come up with something else!

[Even Linhardt has to concede that moving furniture is a pretty Big Deal. He would only bother doing such a thing if he was really serious about something.

So obviously there was no getting out of this now.]

All right, all right. I give in.

[He sighs, a bit dramatically, before stepping closer to Lorenz. Even if he doesn't know how to dance, he's certainly seen enough people do it to have an idea about the basics. Maybe.]

How do we start?

[Don't try to out-drama him, it won't happen. He is, at least, chipper for this late night hour, patiently waiting for Linhardt to get with it. So. Thanks for getting with it, bud.

He holds his hands out for Linhardt to give him his, so he can show him where they should be. Baby steps.]

Stand up straight, Linhardt. Imagine you have a ballroom full of eyes on you just waiting to be impressed!

[But also,] Give me your hands. I will lead first, then it will be your turn.

[personal profile] sleepyscholar 2020-03-02 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[He may not be able to out-drama Lorenz, but he can come pretty damn close.

At least he isn't being purposefully rude today. An argument doesn't sound particularly appealing just now, especially with Lorenz. He'd probably end up feeling scolded by the end.]

That... doesn't make me feel any better.

[That much attention isn't a good thing, as far as Linhardt is concerned. Still, he does straighten his posture, just to please Lorenz, and holds out his hands as well. But since he doesn't know what to do with them, his stance looks rather awkward.]

All right. Lead away.

[If they got into a contest of drama, it would last about two minutes before Claude reappeared to make fun of them for it; such is the law of the universe. It's better this way.

And, ah... he's awkward. It softens something in Lorenz to see that, to see more than just laziness contributing to Linhardt's reluctance to do this. Not that he's going to call it quits, not a chance, but he can tone down his own drama... Hmm.]

In a moment, [he says, taking Linhardt's hands to arrange them for a Perfect Noble Waltz, or, like, one held, one on his shoulder. Perfection.] Surely where to put your hands isn't that difficult to remember.

[He nudges Linhardt's feet a little into proper position, sliding his other hand around to the small of his back. Ah, hm. Now that he's gotten this far...]

It appears I have neglected the music, so we will have to be a trifle inauthentic. Please forgive my oversight.

[It's not that big a deal, and yet.]

[personal profile] sleepyscholar 2020-03-03 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[That would be what happened, wouldn't it? Sometimes Linhardt feels that Claude is magically attracted to these sorts of situations. It's maddening.

As for getting his hands and feet into proper position? Well, Lin can follow instructions well enough. His one hand settles and remains on Lorenz's shoulder with the other grasped together.

He can't help the slight blush that crosses his face, though, when he feels Lorenz's other hand rest at the small of his back. While Linhardt might have followed instructions, he's definitely standing more stiffly than he should.]

That's okay. Just please, don't ask me to sing.

[Oh, this is going to be embarrassing. How will he possibly learn enough by the coming celebration?]

Ah, another thing you would be wise to practice before we are all thrust into the spotlight!

[He is serious, this is a valuable noble skill, but-] Perhaps one day you will indulge me with another opportunity to teach you, but for now, let us keep time the old-fashioned way.

[Counting, that is. Get ready to count to three a lot with him, Linhardt. Lorenz glances down, checking their respective starting positions at a glance one last time before he stands straight once more and clears his throat seriously. Okay. It's time.]

Follow my footwork, [he suggests, and he will start slow, step by glacial step, rather than simply sweeping Linhardt into a whirlwind of fancy movement. One-two-three, one-two-three... He keeps an eye on Linhardt's face, which is totally not a little bit much this up close. Hm!]

I cannot help but notice you look unwell.

Learning to dance is one thing. I don't think there's anything to be done about my singing voice.

[He always hated singing in the cathedral. It was always best to just keep his voice as quiet as possible.

But now to focus on dancing.

To his credit, Linhardt does put effort into keeping up with Lorenz, doing his best to solidify each step in his memory. He certainly has a mind for memorization, even if he lacks the grace that's supposed to go along with an art like dancing. For Linhardt, it's more mechanical than elegant.

With his focus on each movement, he tries not to let his gaze linger back on Lorenz's for too long at a time. They are awfully close, but he shouldn't be noticing how handsome the other has grown over the past few years.

Surely such thoughts would be seen as deviant for a noble. He shouldn't hint at them.]

Maybe I look unwell when I'm trying to focus. It's possible.

[Lorenz moves as smoothly in a simple waltz as he does in battle, which for him really does mean practiced elegance, so rest assured - it's more obvious with every step just how well Linhardt is taking to this dancing thing. That is to say, not at all, and Lorenz can conceptualize things like, say, naturally not being a good dancer... but come on. Such stiffness is practically laughable!

Practically. Lorenz does not laugh, but he does scoff at Linhardt's, hm, defense? Is it really a defense...]

Now Linhardt, I have seen you focused on your work, and I would wager the only time you could look more content than that is when you've dozed off somewhere you shouldn't have for the dozenth time.

[He's had plenty of moments to pass by and shake his head at yet another catnap, and at some point along the way the irritation he initially felt upon seeing Linhardt dozing in the wrong place must have given way to a sort of fondness. It's kind of endearing, not that he could possibly admit that. Good gracious, no less than half a dozen of their friends would appear at once to ensure he never lived it down.

But anyway. He presses his hand just a smidgen more firmly against Linhardt's back to guide him into a turn, considering him.]

Could it be that what I said about the audience is bothering you? It is only the two of us here, as persistent as Claude would like us to think he is with his meddling.

[personal profile] sleepyscholar 2020-03-04 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I hadn't realized you were paying attention.

[So maybe Lorenz deserves a little teasing for his comments. And keeping up some semblance of a sense of humor helps with his terrible lack of skill. Linhardt knows he's only just starting to learn, but this feels truly pathetic compared to his teacher's easy grace.

Of course, his attempt to tease ends up fading into a deeper blush when that hand presses a bit harder against his back, and he feels like he might trip over his own feet when Lorenz leads him into that turn.

This is absurd. A foolish crush is distracting him, and he feels like he's back in school once more. At least nobody attempted to teach him to dance back then.]

I'm not bothered. I'm just a bit distracted by a few thoughts. Very un-noble-like ones, I'm sure. You wouldn't want to hear.

What can I say? I am blessed by my keen awareness of those around me.

[Dohoho.mp3... He is observant to the point of being critical, this is known, but in some areas he can certainly be— well, the opposite. Completely oblivious. To wit, he doesn't consider it all that suspect that Linhardt blushes every time Lorenz so much as shifts his hand a centimeter or so; he's a novice! This is novice behavior!

But, ah—]

It is... equally unlike a noble to pit my curiosity against my propriety, Linhardt. If you phrase it like that, it's only natural to be interested, is it not?

[Hmm! Give him a hint.]

Is it something you require help with?
sleepyscholar: (82)

[personal profile] sleepyscholar 2020-03-05 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
If only I could be so blessed.

[He actually does manage a smile at that. Knowing what he knows, after all, and how completely oblivious Lorenz is to his true thoughts. Sometimes there is a level of amusement to keeping secrets.]

Help?

[Linhardt pauses, musing. Now he's a bit more focused on this issue than following the dance routine. He will fully embrace the excuse of being a clumsy novice.]

Actually... maybe. Could you explain to me the best way for a nobleman to express his romantic interest in another person?

[He'll just keep is very, very vague.]
hotproblems: (001)

[personal profile] hotproblems 2020-03-05 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Oh? Romantic advice?

[That's more serious than learning to dance! Not that Lorenz is giving up on leading, no; he can multitask, but his steps slow just slightly, while he thinks about this.

Well, step one: don't do anything he used to do at school... How embarrassing. Is he qualified to answer this question, actually? He still will, but oh boy.]

Well— be direct, but leave it open-ended, in the event that the other party is sadly not interested. [Life lessons he learned through many Professor lectures, take note.] Sending a letter is tried and true, if that's more to your tastes.

[One-two-three... turn... one-two-three...]

Above all else, be confident!
sleepyscholar: (77)

[personal profile] sleepyscholar 2020-03-06 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Linhardt has no intention of writing a letter... that would probably be a disaster. But being direct but open-ended isn't bad advice, nor is confidence. Too bad he doesn't have much of that.

And while Linhardt isn't much of a trickster, not like Claude, he can still be a bit sneaky when he wants to be.]

Would you mind using me as an example? Tell me what you would say if you were asking me on a date, or to the ball, perhaps.

[After that, he turns some of his attention back to the dancing. While his stiff posture is still a problem, he's starting to get a better hang of the steps through sheer repetition.]
hotproblems: (051)

[personal profile] hotproblems 2020-03-07 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[No, write a letter, that's iconic... But ah! A demonstration, is that it? Lorenz hums, pursing his lips to consider his options while he moves through the steps on automatic. He ought to take his own advice, he thinks; after all, in the middle of wartime, he's done his best to conscientiously put a pin in finding the ideal marriage prospect...

Well, he's out of practice, that's all. But let no one say Lorenz Hellman Gloucester is a quitter, so!]

I would begin with a casual remark— 'Linhardt, my dear friend, you are looking as handsome as ever this evening!' To which you might generously concede that I, too, am immaculate as always—

[Haha! Jokes! Not really jokes. Ahem.]

And then without further dallying, I would inquire directly as to whether or not you would like to have dinner with me, privately, most particularly not in the dining hall.

[Or, as he leads them into another turn:] Or in the latter case, I might say something like, 'Someone as lovely as you deserves only the finest of escorts to the ball, and as it so happens, here I am!'

[Just remember that none of Lorenz's charm actually comes from his smooth lines.]
sleepyscholar: (12)

[personal profile] sleepyscholar 2020-03-25 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[What does Linhardt know about charm? Just about nothing. What he does know is that Lorenz's lines make him smile, amused, partly because of the self-compliments. Others might not like such comments, but he's doing his best not to chuckle.]

How kind of you to say, Lorenz. I accept your invitation.

[And he falls silent after that, fully intending to leave it there and see how the other man responds.

Meanwhile, he turns his focus a bit more on making sure his dancing is at least a little more acceptable. Slightly less stiff. Maybe he wants to impress a little after pulling that little stunt.

...He hopes Lorenz doesn't react too badly. At the worst he'll take it as a joke... right?]
hotproblems: (TMeAxYt)

[personal profile] hotproblems 2020-03-25 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lorenz chuckles and nods, as if to say yes, that's precisely how a gentleman should accept an invitation! And the shift in Linhardt's dancing is noticeable, so give him a moment to be quietly proud of that, his teaching skills—

And then another moment for Linhardt's words to sink in. Oh. Oh!]

Wh- mine? Really? That is to say, of course you would! But. Ah— Linhardt...

[One-two-turn... hmm,] Which invitation would that be? There were two.
sleepyscholar: (89)

[personal profile] sleepyscholar 2020-03-25 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[The silence in response worries him a little, but when Lorenz does reply, it's in a way that doesn't suggest anything like disgust.

In fact, he puts Linhardt off guard with his comment about two invitations. So there were! With that reminder, he answers readily.]

Either. Or both.

[Dinner together would be pleasant, and if Lorenz can consider the idea of attending a ball with another man, then that would be lovely as well. He won't hold it against him if he would rather do something private for the moment, however.]

I know I'm not the ideal companion for a large party, but with a few more dancing lessons, I can at least participate. [See? He's trying. A rare event.]
hotproblems: (RRMGFx6)

[personal profile] hotproblems 2020-03-25 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Linhardt that is still a non-answer—]

Dinner first. [Dinner is simple, private; attending a ball together has implications beyond just the both of them being men. For all that it's... a little charming, the way Linhardt just tricked him into inviting him anywhere, there are social obligations he's not prepared to meet in the middle of this war with anyone, charm aside.

There's still time, besides.]

Dinner and another dancing lesson. And then, who knows! [...] I hadn't realized you'd... taken an interest.

[Like yeah, of course Lorenz Hellman Gloucester(tm) is a total catch, but not impressively attentive, actually... woops.]
