Comment with your character, preferences, preferred role, and any information you'd like to include.
Your character has either been injured/sick and had to be taken in (possibly against their will) or has been the one to help somebody like the former. Through the mending process, the two characters in a thread have fallen in love - or at least grown closer and more affectionate.
[ Jaskier doesn't tend to regret following Geralt. He puts himself in danger knowing full well that the other man won't let any real harm come to him. Probably. He'd like to say that Geralt is all bark and no bite, but that seems like the wrong sentiment when they're both covered in what's left of the monster that had found Jaskier a much more interesting playmate than Geralt.
The Witcher had gone into its nest alone, but the creature hadn't been there because it had been too busy stalking Jaskier through the trees outside. Luckily, Geralt had returned before Jaskier had been turned into a meal for a beast, but he'd cut it close.
Jaskier's alive and his limbs are all still attached, but he's covered in more scrapes and bruises than he can remember ever having before and it hurts more with every step he takes as he follows Geralt through the dark woods. He refuses to ask the other man to stop, but he knows he can't keep up with Geralt much longer with the way he's favoring his right leg. He's already starting to fall behind when he stops to lean on a tree and catch his breath. ]
Geralt--
[ He's nearly breathless with the pain by the time he speaks up. ]
Although hidden beneath a veil of illusion, the area surrounding the Silvergrove isn't particularly dangerous. It's also not particularly unusual for any one particular Moonshadow elf to wander out beyond the borders of their home, perhaps for gathering moonberries, or even simply to explore and go for a walk.
Ethari does take the occasional walk by himself, although it's more of a hike, and it tends to last most of the day, but he has a specific destination in mind. Just past a wide but shallow river to the east is a cave he had once come across by chance, and inside, if one knew how to look, gleaming moon opals could be uncovered. In the riverbed, too, colorful stones worn smooth by the rushing water and sand could also be used for appealing adornments.
Ethari only ever ventured here when he had a particular need for such stones, and even then typically only for pieces to be crafted for very special occasions.
...or for very special people.
It's a path he knows well - well enough that he doesn't bring anyone else along, content to enjoy the trip on his own. Of course, Ethari would have been terribly pleased to have Runaan with him, but training had to come first; and besides, he wanted his little project to be a surprise. He even goes on foot, choosing to leave his mount behind.
It would prove to be a rather ill-fated decision.
It's later in the afternoon, after already having gathered a few stones deemed satisfactory, when he begins on the hour-long trek back to the Silvergrove. The heavy summer rains had changed some of the terrain, making parts of the path somewhat more treacherous than before, lose stones sliding beneath his feet. Ethari carefully picks his way down the edge of a steep ravine, taking his time - but a sudden noise like the cry of an animal distracts him just enough that his next step lands poorly.
The stone shifts, wrenching his ankle painfully and stealing his balance, sending him tumbling over rocks and twigs and roots, down into the narrow ravine. At some point during his fall, he feels the jolting shock of a bone fracturing, pain seizing sharply through one shin before he comes to a sudden, painful stop against an old tree.
Battered and bruised, sunlight streaking through its canopy is the last thing he sees before unconsciousness claims him.
He'd been fooled. For years. By Xue Yang. He knows it now, and Zichen had come for him despite the painful words Xingchen had been sent away with. In leaving, Xingchen had pushed himself between the two men, feeling one blade pierce his side and another (because by feel, Jiangzai had been split into twin blades for the battle) to a leg.
Not that it matters, so long as Zichen is safe and unharmed. He remembers the scream Xue Yang made as Song Lan carried him away, but dismisses it as simply anger at having his toy taken away.
She's not naked when he comes around this time, but that same terrifying look is there. Her hands move from the center of his chest, dispersing the stream of healing magic that had saved his life. Repairing what should have been a fatal arrow that pierced his heart.
There's dust, dirt, and blood all around them. Bodies litter the ground. It looks like quite the skirmish had happened.
"Next time, when I tell you to stay at the campsite with Geralt, you'd better listen."
Still the worst nurse ever, but then again it's never been her job to coddle him.
