[ It had all started as a precaution — that's what he'd told himself at the time, anyway — but weeks into this particular... internment, precaution has turned to active prevention. Working in the shadows requires both foresight and insight, and nine times out of ten, one leads to the other. In the beginning, foresight had led him to believe this was the best way, and with more and more insight being gained every day, the justifications just keep rolling in. He doesn't feel he's in the wrong.

This guy's a danger. To others (but also himself). He's con man, a stalker, an arsonist, a thief, a murderer; hell, the rap sheet's so damn impressive, you might keep as small family of office printers fed full time on the content alone. It's actually a bit troubling how the he's managed to get away with it for so long. Even regular law enforcement has great interest, and yet nothing's stuck. And the flimsy excuse that his victims deserved it? Nah, not going to fly with this Bat. The one before him might have hailed it a brand of vigilantism not particularly distant from his own, but for R. John Blake, the successor of Gotham's most dangerous underground justice-driven role, there's very little quarter given for such things (if any at all).

Throughout the cave are mementos of past victories — everything from armored helmets to comically large props used by even larger-than-life enemies — not to mention one occupied containment area. At least as far as "prisons" go, this isn't the most uncomfortable option afforded a person. The guy's well-fed (practically doted upon by the butler that tends to him when Blake's away). Granted, it's not the Ritz Carlton, but it's loads nicer than any roadside motel. Too bad the chance for escape is relatively low, and for some reason, the proprietor isn't taking anything from the suggestion box.

Fortunately for him, he's got money and access to all the best tools, and unlike Bruce, he hasn't been in any bit of a sharing mood with the research and development Wayne Enterprises has been doing on the down low in the past years he's been doing this job.

Late afternoon finds Blake perched in front of the massive bank of computers, a statue as unmoving as the collection around him. This is typical for him, the twilight hours reserved for research and some small amount of recovery on his already-punished body. He's practically a mask all his own for how unmoved and focused he seems to be.

And so it goes, at least until Blake can decide exactly what to do with the guy he's been so valiantly holding back in an effort to curb the chaos. ]
